+Stereophonic You should do a video with the same setup playing the MOFI 45RPM Kind of Blue to show DarkMalfunction just how good properly pressed vinyl can sound on a quality rig (I have it, and I know just how good the 3D soundstage is on that version; I also have the 33/33/33/45 Classic version from the mid 1990's and that version is a big warmer in the midrange) ....or use the Music On Vinyl 180gram version of Charles Mingues Ah Um ;-)

Please do! There needs to be some more Grado love in the Audiophile community. Also, thank you!
@TD402dd9 жыл бұрын
+Stereophonic I think some in the community are more impressed by cost than competence. That said, this is no cheap cart, and calls for something like VPI Scout or even a much more expensive ($10,000) table. Even so, the Scout does an amazing job allowing the cart to work at its best.

This video is great, I'd like to know if that is a reissue (seems to me like it is but I want to be sure. I've got this song in a compilation that was released only here in Argentina, "Frank Sinatra and Nelson Riddle, 20 greatest hits". EMI-Capitol released a lot of compitlations during the eighties, specially quite a number of 20-greatest-hits records, and the good thing is that they took the original masters and made the compilation from these tapes, not very common over here. I love the arrangement that the double bass plays in 3:06, a little pause and then that 5-times-repeated note.
@Stereophonic339 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a reissue from the original masters tapes. I believe this one is from 2012. I also agree! Brian May's arrangements are pure genius and fit the style so well!

+Stereophonic Sorry, meant to say Nelson Riddle.

A courier sits at top a grave yard hill, looking at the signing lights in the distance, one day he thinks I could make it there, no more local runs around town. He is suddenly interrupted by a man in a checkered suit with men dressed in old tattered motorcycle leathers. The last thing he remembers are the words "ring a ding ding baby" as a flash of bright orange fills the couriers view.

You have listed that the recording you are playing is the 1998 Digital Remaster. If the record you show is the record being heard, the audio is not a digital remaster (with the exception that the audio being heard has been digitized so as to be heard over KZbin). From the source record though Mobile Fidelity does not digitize their recordings for their vinyl issues. They produce on vinyl only direct copies of analog master recordings.

Very good! Nice rig you have there, but you mentioned the Blue Snowball mic as part of your recording chain. Does this mean that you've recorded the music with your speakers and the Blue mic? It doesn't sound like a microphone recording!

Good recording, but audio on KZbin, to my knowledge at least, is always converted to 128 kbps AAC format, which is not close to FLAC at all, and surely nowhere close to hearing vinyl recordings IRL. This is a very good recording though since the source is very clean. Some artifacting can be heard, but that is probably the fault of KZbin's audio compression. This is a very clean audio recording by KZbin standards. Keep up the good work, man. Keep spreading the knowledge of better audio quality. :)

That was beautiful! Thank you. In your opinion, what would you consider the best quality turn table or record player brand? Both classic players and current if you don't mind?
@Stereophonic339 жыл бұрын
Thank very much for the kind words and happy new year! The "best" will always depend on your budget. Cheapest modern turntable I would go for is the AT-60. Cheapest classic being an belt driven Thorens turntable. What is you budget? That would be useful to know.
@bazazam9 жыл бұрын
+Stereophonic Hi, I got the same question. My budget is $500, what do you think will be the best?
