Hey, I'm the owner of the Vadrok discord and have the list on the cedh decklist database. We have just under 200 people and about 20-30 dedicated players, but only like 3 of those are casual so you're kinda right lmfao. The cat dragon is definitely a little underwhelming at first glance, but extremely powerful in practice, definitely one of the better things you can be playing atm in cedh.

If prasmatic piper had the text “this creature is all creature types” like most shapeshifters would it be playable?

It would help, could allow Piper to be used in budget tribal lists, or partner with other commanders that are about a certain tribe. But the Piper served its role for draft, and have inspired people to build decks around it. I've seen many people make a core deck with a Partner and then have cards set aside so that from game to game the Piper could be different colors. Makes for some fun jank.

One great thing to remember about Sakashima is that you don't have to turn anything into a creature, it turns the legend rule off completely, so things like Mirage Mirror, Phyrexian Metamorph, Thespian's Stage, and a highly underappreciated card, Mirrormade, are able to copy your other legendary permanents other than creatures

You can get into an arbitrary loop with twinflame and a ritual if you can always win and lose a flip and go “infinite”

Krarkashima is a really fun pairing to go with, made a draw to win casual deck with them with the wincon being self mill with laboratory maniac on the field, using things that give you no max handsize, as well as some zap spells for dmg coverage and a few mana generators, one of my faves being actually spell swindle, using multiple copies targeting each other.

I play Krark and Esior, Esior is definitely valuable as partner since I can't run as much counter magic as a normal izzet deck would. It also gives me access to cantrip's, turnabout, high tide and ways to tutor out the thumb.

Looter il-Kor and equipment like Mask of Memory are a nonbo with Ghost of Ramirez DePietro. Ghost has to choose a target when the damage effect triggers, and you can't choose a card discard by LiK or MoM as their ability goes on the stack at the same time.

Siana and Eligeth was my first both partner edh deck, but also my first mono blue deck. TBH it is not usual blue deck, it is more or less a creature deck with flyers and scryers :)

Effects like Esior, Wardwing Familiar (or Propaganda or Kazull, Tyrant of the Cliffs) are great because they often convince people to play their removal (or direct attackers) at other players in a desire to be efficient.

Prismatic piper is my favorite deck commander. I made four 50 card nongreen half-decks that are different mono colored tribal. Then i partner it with kodama and a mono green half deck. The green side has all the ramp and draw, so each game is a random pairing with one of the colors.

Commander legends literally just powered up my Becket Brass pirate deck. It added more options for Brass to actually steal stuff from opponents. Before legends it was hard to get Brass to actually pop off with steal effects. Auto includes are Ramirez, Hull breacher and Keen-eye navigator amongst others. Brass was a pet deck for me and its made me so happy that it got a hand up from this set.

I built bird tribal with esior and Ishai. Two birds in the command zone actually makes a big difference with several of the cards, plus esior protects Ishai if it happens to get really big

One of the first (non-Commander) decks I ever made in magic was a mono-U deck that just went bananas on Scry effects. It took me a couple of games to realise that you need to have something else to actually DO besides get a sneak peek of what your next Scry card is going to be, but it did give me a great appreciation for Scry as an effect, and a decent awareness of a bunch of good cards that have it. So for me, while it's clearly not the best partner in U never mind in the set, Eligeth is very, very appealing

Sakashima is great and having the equivalent of a second spark double in each deck is amazing. I recently added it to my Sevinne deck (sadly no longer under $100 because of Sakashima), and being able to get even more value off of spells just makes it insane

please explain krark interaction with sakashima. so you cast a spell and then trigger krark 1 goes on the stack then the other goes on the stack. flip 2 resolves first and you fail so you return the card back to your hand. does krark 1 trigger till resolves when the spell is back in your hand?

I've built a Sakishima + Prismatic Piper deck. It has a set number of 68 cards, and then 5 sets of 32 cards that make up a "sideboard". The 68 main part of the deck is a clone tribal package, and then which 32 cards I pair with it depends on which color I pick for Prismatic Piper, and all have unique win conditions (black uses Etrata, green Biovisionary, etc). I know I could just use 5 different commanders and it'd be better, but it would feel too much like 5 separate decks. Plus Prismatic Piper is a shapeshifter, so he fits thematically.

I don't think Sakashima works with Krark quite how you said. If the first trigger is a lost flip, then you return the spell to hand and the second trigger fizzles. It's 50% you lose that first flip, fizzling the second. 25% win the first lose the second, so one copy and the original back to hand, and 25% you get 2 copies plus the original on the stack. Edit: I'm wrong. Krark doesn't target, so nothing fizzles

the piper would allow some uncertainty until the colour is announced, so you can have a subset of cards with their colour to play with when you decide what to sort out and lock in. malcom looks to be strong, just good it was limited to pirates. next round of partners hope to get some more obscure races like Cephalid, homarid. edit; oh and drake.

I actually think that emberclaw familiar is very good with both ghost of remiero DePietro and Malcom, both as the partner and in the 99, as it makes your commander deal that damage to everyone, meaning if you can hit one of you opponents with your Commander, it will trigger 3 times, and normally there is at least one that you can easily hit. Especially with ghost of remiero DePietro wich only cares about itselg dealing damage, trippeling the trigger can be extremely strong. Ghost of Remiero DePietro + Emberclaw Familiar + Burning Anger. Tap your Commander, get 3 cards back.

I built the Krark of a thousand faces deck. It’s super sweet and not fun to play against. Basically you continue to copy Salashima who is a copy of krark and then cast rituals repeatedly until you get a super high storm count and win with like grape shot or the mill one. Problem is you don’t ever actually go infinite so you can’t ever just show a loop and win so you have to sit there and play it out. Which is fun... for you.

I actually use Esior in my main deck and I love it for the fact it’s a attention drawer. It’s 2 mana, forced opponents to pay 3 extra to target my commander, and basically exists to be another thing to take care of before hitting my commander

Regarding Esior, as someone who plays cEDH in some circles, I would say only in very niche situations, as most partner commanders already have a suitable pairing (I.e. Tymna, Vial Smasher, Thrasios). If you have a playgroup where they know what you're doing though and will target your key permanents on sight, it may be worth experimenting with. But overall I think you're better off playing your partners your deck was built for.

Just going to leave it here, but I have an EDH Vadrok Tool-boxy/Control style of deck, that focus on bouncing whatever creature Vadrok is mutated to, in order to recast and overhelm other players with small increments of value, tokens, or making them draw so many cards the mill out. So would love to know if any of the other supposed two Vadrok players are around and how did they build him.

I created a deck with two prismatic pipers as the commanders. The deck consists of 5 mono color 45 card half decks and 8 artifact card sideboard.. The mono color and sideboard cards are all just good stuff. Beginning of game I just randomly choose two of the decks, then add the sideboard.. Turns the deck into a true good stuff deck. Tis fun to pilot and stuff

I'm going to be that guy and mention that it's not actually a legal deck, because it's breaking the singleton rule. (It would be legal within a draft because draft doesn't use the singleton rule.) The card doesn't itself mention that a deck can have any specific number of copies of it, so the limit is still 1. That being said, I bet anyone will let you play that deck just for the fun and flavor factor :)

I wish they made Prismatic Piper with text that said, ‘You may partner any Legendary Creature with Prismatic Piper.’ Give any random commander a chance to pair with another color using it, and at least doesn’t add any extra abilities of its own. So I run Ghost of Ramirez Depietro in my Sidisi, the Blood Tyrant along with Tormond, the Desecrator. I typically have wonder in my graveyard or aqueous form on sidisi to be able to attack along with Ramirez, i mill three for attacking with sidisi and with how hard it is to block Ramirez on top of him having flying from wonder with trigger and i can retrieve another self mill creature card and that will trigger Tormond. Possible 2 2/2 zombie tokens. Throw a parallel lives on top and it starts to get nasty!

I'm surprised there's no mention of the rather straightforward Sakashima + Kodama combo. Anything that can bounce itself, such as a bounce land, goes infinite instantly. (The two abilities are separate, and thus they will trigger alternately as the permanent keeps reentering the battlefield.)

My only interactions were a spellslinger izzet deck in Standard that faced a gruul deck running Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, and facing a Tasigur, the Golden Fang Commander deck that cared about negates and big spells as resources to advance their board state.

Yarok out then Sakashima means you get a Yarok copy and a copy of something else. Have generic etb copy resolve first, say Mulldrifter, draw two, then Yarok copy trigger.

I have been building a mono-blue tribal sphinx commander deck for a while now, kinda just collecting certain cards over the past year or so and eventually going to make a deck out of it all. My original choice for the commander was Alhammarret, High Arbiter but I am now going to go with Eligeth and Siani, partner style. I already pulled a foil ext. art Sphinx of the Second Sun and have Sphinx of the Final Word, Sphinx Mindbreaker, Sphinx of Enlightenment, Scholar of the Lost Trove, Sphinx of Foresight and Windreader Sphinx to name a few of the big bad flyers. Just need Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign for the sphinx cost reduction and I'm in business!!! Lol. Jeweled Lotus, Thought Vessel, Sol Ring, Worn Powerstone, Hedron Archive for the rocks its on from there. What do you guys think?

Eligeth and Sisai are a good partner combo but the problem is that there are hardly enough good fliers in blue to make it a good aggro. There are like 10-15 fliers i would include but besides that you have to resort to other creatures.

I had partnered Sakashima with Kodama and it was disgusting and to easy. So I partnered him with Ravos Soultender and it's great, a lot of really good clone targets in white, and black. A little recursion, and the +1/+1 anthem is great because generally whatever you clone, your is now just better and can win in combat(:

Does anyone have a link to coin flip rulings for the case of Saskashima and Krark? Are they two separate triggers or do they happen at the same time, and is there a case where you can choose one result and disregard the other?

There's no specific ruling, but abilities can only resolve one at a time, so you always flip first for one of them and then for the other. (Things that use the stack, like abilities, can never happen simultaneously.) The interesting case is when you lose the first flip and win the second. The first flip will bounce the card to your hand. However, the second flip still creates a copy of it, using its last known information - like any other ability that uses information (in this case, all of the spell's characteristics) from a spell, card or permanent that is no longer in the zone it used to be in. There's actually a ruling on Gatherer for this particular case: "If you win the flip, but the spell that caused Krark’s triggered ability to trigger isn’t on the stack anymore (most likely because it was countered), the copy is still created." Note that while that ruling was written with counterspells in mind, it still applies when the spell leaves the stack for any other reason (such as being returned to your hand).
