Wow! What a neat piece of pencil history! 10:00 Epcon was the new process developed by Hasbro (toys) for their Empire Pencils subsidiary, for making extruded plastic pencils. So that would place this set at the tail end of the 1960s or into the 1970s. Very cool!

Thanks for the good information, MAMO! My suspicion was that these were of that era, but it's always hard to know for sure. I wasn't aware that Hasbro owned Empire Pencils - very interesting!

Just shows how pencils are better than pens 😊 All of those pencils fully useable, even after all of these years!

So true! The pencils will always work - no matter how old they are!

I remember those pens with the flared end. I never knew that was for dialing a rotary phone. I always assumed it was for grip comfort. Paper Mate had one similar called the "Contour".
@DinnerForkTongue
@DinnerForkTongue 10 ай бұрын
They were originally for dialing phones, the confortable grip was a happy coincidence. I'm not surprised Pilot in particular has imitated this grip format for their budget offerings since ages ago.

Hi lincmerc - I don't remember the Contour, but I'm sure there were a number of similar styles at one time. Thanks!

As far as bridge pencils go, MAMO has an interesting video analysis of them both as a phenomenon and as a writing implement ("A Skinny on Bridge Pencils" for those interested). And those Stanley house party pencils you've reviewed a while back count as bridge pencils, with how thin they are.

Hi DFT - I always enjoy MAMO's videos. I couldn't tell you the last time I heard anyone mention playing bridge. It was quite common when I was growing up - seemed like a sophisticated grown-up game and I always hoped I would learn how to play someday. Thanks!

You should put ASMR tags on your videos you would probably get more views, we need you to make some money to fund all the new items you have to review 😁

Thanks, Hennessy. Do you think my videos are ASMR? I don't create them for that purpose but the nature of what I'm doing naturally lends itself to that kind of sound.
@OShackHennessy
@OShackHennessy 10 ай бұрын
@@AlwaysAnalog Absolutely. I watch a lot of ASMR but that’s not specifically what I found/watch you for but yes. You have a very calm speaking voice, the writing sounds, the package openings, the erasing, and sometimes when you rummage through pencils too. You absolutely will draw an ASMR crowd if they get wind of it. Let me tell you though that you should not change how you do videos because in my opinion ASMR is better when it’s unintentional. Then it just gets annoying in my humble opinion. But as someone who appreciates your channel I can tell you that tagging your stuff with that hashtag or even putting a few titles with the word in there might bring in the views. Look up ASMR and see how ridiculous some of the channels are with views/subs. Get yourself a fancy mic and you’ll be giving these people eargasms. 😂

@@OShackHennessy I disagree. That'd bring in a crowd that is _much_ less about the purpose of the channel. I'd call Kevin's content "ASMR-esque", not the true thing.

@@DinnerForkTongue why would anyone care what crowd comes in to watch a video as long as the creator benefits? He clearly likes making a specific type of content with a niche following but him benefiting financially would only benefit you as a viewer by showcasing more/better products.

Hi Racoon - there was a lot more human interaction when these were made. No online ordering - you actually got to see the thing you wanted to purchase. Thanks!

What are your recommendations for black round pencils for writing?
@AlwaysAnalog
@AlwaysAnalog 10 ай бұрын
It's sometimes a challenge to find round pencils, especially in black color. One of the best round pencils currently available is the Musgrave Tennessee Round, although it is natural in color. Look on the Musgrave Pencil Co. website and you may find something. Thanks!

Anyone have any recommendations for a decent pencil case that will hold a few pencils and an eraser that I can stick in my small messenger bag?

Sorry, I don't know any specific brands. An art supply store would have a variety to choose from. Thanks!
