Picture last call at your favourite bar in your hometown: waitresses are cleaning up empties, telling the guys it's their last game of pool, and if you don't drink 'em, she'll dump 'em, lights are coming on, in one corner, some guys are crying and hugging, in another, a couple are dancing, and a few guys are about to brawl in the parking lot. The Mounties are doing their usual, Saturday night walk-through, and just as you're about to grab your jacket , you look up at the stage, and see these guys. Playing this song. Then, somehow, as if on cue, everyone in the bar stops and starts singing along with the last chorus. That's the video I see.

"Lost Together" - it's a song I've shared often on my feed, and while it started as a love song, Blue Rodeo almost always close their shows with it now, and almost always make it a COMMUNAL moment, having other artists join them on stage, wherever they are playing, and also having the audience sing it with them. Everything we do right now needs to be a COMMUNAL moment, needs to be about all of us and not just self... Love this song. Goodnight, friends. Pay it forward.

isn't it weird that we seem to spend so much time searching for someone who we think are meant to find?? but the more we search, the less likely we're going to find them, because our minds are so set that we need to find them that the right one might just slip by because we are so focussed on the one we imagine is right.. that one is actually waiting but not for someone to find but to cross paths at the exact right time and the exact right place because it was already planned from the time you had your first heartbeat. the stars are what people always followed to get to the right destination and it just may be that it is also the stars that guided you to that person that was meant for you and then your journey beyond that, you will never get lost, unless you get lost together...but then again, is it really lost, or just the beginning of a new journey.......together???

Gregg Keelor's voice is rough and amazing...this song is incredible. Most always refer immediately to Jim Cuddy when talking about Blue Rodeo; let's face it Cuddy is awesome, but the whole band is dynamic and kudos have to go out to the whole ensemble. Keelor is underrated he's fricken awesome...love this....he wrote it.

….absolutely…..we were standing face to face… with our arms stretched out, and our hands tangled in a chaotic fashion as only lovers can decipher its’ dis-entanglement, but not just yet… we allow ourselves to sway to the music, the area rug is our dance floor… with the blinds rolled up so high that they seem to disappear… the sun floods the living room highlighting only us… and yet no prying eyes could see us… for they would not understand or even know how to deal with our energies bonding us as one… our four legs, criss-crossing to allow an air tight contact between my chest pressed against your breasts….… two hearts listening to one another and synchronizing to beat as one… with eyes closed, we dance to the music as our cheeks caress one another, we grant our senses to fall in love too… our lips meet, and the utmost of a sensual kiss is shared… the gentleness of our lips tells and may even remind us how important it is for us to be Lost Together… ...excerpt from the novel Paper Cigarette (modified)...

What amazes me is how Beatles-esque this song is. In the last stanza, the way Greg Keelor is singing reminds me of John Lennon.

It's got a lot in common with Whiter Shade of Pale as well...The biggest Beatles similarity is the drum fills in the verse, which liken it to A Day in the Life.

So I was just watching the M*A*S*H* Christmas episode, which ends with Father Mulcahy narrating about moving "from one disaster to another". And I gotta wonder, did Blue Rodeo use that line in this song, or did the expresson pre-date the episode?
