I would like to buy the book you mentioned. Could not find ...."encyclopedia of North American Boletes". Found this: North American Boletes by Bassette and Roody. Cover is mostly yellow. Is this the book you were speaking of? if not what is the author of the book you mentioned? (Encyclopedia of North American Boletes") Thank you

Yes, that is the book. I think I just misremembered the name 😅. You will love it.

Nice. I was also told the same thing about staying away from blue staining boletes but there are many blue staining boletes, like the xerocomellus mendocinesis

I have blue staining boletes here that turn blue so fast you almost can't see any of the yellow. I remember reading that some of them have psilocybe in them, and I was fairly sure I IDed one of them, but I wasn't going to take the consumption test 😂

I wish I could send you a picture of a beautiful mushroom I found in the backyard….in my book”the complete mushroom hunter “ it shows a yellow “ Fly Agarica Amanita” I’m trying to get a spore print. It is beautiful.

Awesome! I've been itching to get out but its been just as dry down here in the hudson valley/downstate area. Hoping to get out this weekend. Not sure if they're out yet but im determined to find some black trumpets this season. Dont know too much about boletes but I'll have to keep my eye out and learn as I go now.
@RenegadeMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
For trumpets focus on areas of moist forest with sparse ground cover and lots of moss. Trumpets love to grow in and around moss. Usually hill sides where or near creeks are best for me with oak, beech, and hemlock trees.

all that rain you got just missed me on the northwest end of lake Ontario & its still really super dry here. (no mushrooms, just bracket fungi) its been so dry that some of the natural springs are no longer pumping out water. i am getting worried that the fall mushroom season is not going to happen or is going to be very limited.

We had 3 days of rain finally out of that last system, but honestly it still wasn't enough. The ground is still dry in the woods and I'm thinking it's going to be a slim Maitake season.

@@RenegadeMushrooms oh man, I hope we get soaked than cause Maitake, Honey's & king boletes get dried & are for my winter stock of mushrooms. I have some really good spots here as long as we get the rains!

Any idea why the hole eaten by the slug was still yellow orange?
@RenegadeMushrooms Жыл бұрын
Probably the mycelium sealing itself off from the wound. They tend to eventually crust over damaged areas.

I wonder if the slime made a barrier to prevent the oxidation while the mushroom scarred over

Do you have a store/website where you sell your mushrooms? I'd be interested in buying...I like that you share so much info, but don't try and sell anything!
@RenegadeMushrooms2 жыл бұрын
I mostly just sell to herbal apothecaries and people that make and sell medicinal extracts. Thank you for watching, and for your kind words though 😊

What about xiamo jen jen (the little people) the ones that Janet Yellen ate in China.
@RenegadeMushrooms Жыл бұрын
I have no idea what that means but I like it.
@planethopper335 Жыл бұрын
@@RenegadeMushrooms Janet Yellen supposedly ate a type of blue staining bolete, a delicacy in that area. I guess like puffer fish a just enough poison is left in the fish to numb your mouth. That these mushrooms must be thoroughly cooked or you will see the xiamo jen jen or 2cm tall little people, usually armies marching all around. Some mushroom guy went to China too investigate these mushrooms. Ate them and waited quite sometime and said to himself nothings happening. For some reason he lifted the tablecloth and there they were 100s of them 2cm high marching in uniform and cadence. He put the tablecloth down and lifted again only this time all of their heads were torn off and stuck to the tablecloth. All of their heads were smiling and grinning at him.
