The word Swede is pronounced as the country Sweden minus the "n" at the end. This was released in 1974 and peaked #1 at Billboard which was the first time ever that happened to a Swedish artist/group. On the very same day this hit #1 at Billboard ABBA Sweden's biggest music export ever got their breakthrough on the so called Eurovison Song Contest.

Blue Swede is a word play. It’s a Swedish group, thus Swede, but they’re obviously referencing Elvis’s blue suede shoes. But it’s not Blue Suede, it’s Blue Swede. In a roundabout way though, the term suede for leather comes from French, and of course Sweden is Suede in French. The original meaning of suede thus is ”Swedish style leather”.

OOGA CHAKA! (I LITERALLY have that opening chant as my phone's ringtone). As for its origins and meaning, this 1978 song is actually a cover of a 1959 hit, where the original artist started with 'Ooga Chagga', stating that he allegedly came up with it so he could have a distinctive 'reggae-like' launching point for the song. While the end result didn't sound very 'reggae', he supposedly liked the sound enough that he kept it in just for the fun of it.

They did a really good job but I think BJ Thomas's voice has a better tone but they're pretty equal as a whole. BJ's version was the original but with this beginning, you can't forget this one.

This is a cover. The whole uka chaka thing is only on the cover. Swede in this case means in English Suede, like the song "Blue Suede Shoes". I really like the lead singers voice.

Blue Suede totally ruined this song which was originally sang by BJ Thomas in the late 60s. If you want to hear the other version it is on KZbin. Sadly BJ Thomas just passed away last year. Another good song that he sang was Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head which was used on a movie called Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid. I starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Robert Red ford is still alive but not Paul Newman.

Song writers sometimes don't know how to fill out the song to make it of an acceptable length. They try crazy ideas and good ones, until something clicks. It doesn't have to have a deeper meaning, it just has to work. Do you know how to say swedish, from the country? Just take the end off.
