Just bought this and I can't wait. Former band member here, so I understand music theory. I have my own home music studio, but when I first heard this instrument ( three weeks ago through pandora stations), it captivated me soooo much. Maybe its because, through my grandmother, native indian is part of my bloodline. I do plan on finding out what bloodline and how much of the bloodline I have. Anyway, for some crazy reason as I listened to it, it grabbed my spirit and the tears came pouring out of my eyes non-stop. After my tears finally stopped I felt a real sense of peace that I cannot describe. Maybe my native ancestors have come to comfort me through life's journey. (I don't know). One thing is for certain...my spirit man desires me to learn and master this instrument. P.S. i haven't listened to the radio in 3 days because all I want to hear is the native flutes on pandora😅

Greetings! I have a sawgrass reed flute of yours and it's still lovely after 10 years! 🙌💞🐻 I had not heard of Googol, but I heard a band called Gogol Bordello lol don't listen to them anymore, they're a Roma/European punk band. And it's a bit of a shame that native style flutes are being made overseas, I wouldn't choose one unless they were made in Tuvon, Bhutan, Tibet, or Mongolia in a ceremonial fashion by indigenous people. Maybe I'm not open minded but it's a special instrument to me. I feel the same about drums and that's a horse of a different color. I love your videos and work, thank you for keeping the traditions alive and full of beauty!

Pine, like Western Cedar, sounds wonderful. These look and sound great! I purchased your book and through that and your online teaching I am very successfully making a pretty large batch of Native American “style” flutes for Christmas presents for our extended family. Knowing what it takes to make a flute I can say this… I have no idea how you are able to sell these pine flutes at the price point you have them at. They are a tremendous value. All of your products deliver high quality authenticity at amazing prices. Your company philosophy in my opinion delivers the most authentic flutes available. Sorry to gush on but my hat is off to you.

Charlie, that’s a beautiful flute and it sounds fantastic, being a cherokee flute maker myself I believe If a flute is to be identified as native it should be made by a native! Or if not at the least identified as a native STYLED flute.
@BlueBearFlutes
@BlueBearFlutes Жыл бұрын
Thanks for saying that and I'm sorry I didn't respond to your comment sooner! Since my flutes are Native American made, I definitely won't be calling them "Style" anything. The reason that I'm offering this flute as it is, is because there are natives out there who sell chinese-made flutes and call them Native American made. This is a problem. Even the department of interior had tried to change the language of the Indian arts and crafts act to allow them to do this which is very frustrating to me. Glad to hear you make flutes and are a fellow Cherokee. Keep up the good work!

This is a wonderful flute so happy to see you do this and I can't wait to get one. I have seen many imported flutes, a lot of them from the UK that look nice but are just somebody's cheap copy. They seem as fake to me as a nine dollar bill so I wouldn't consider owning one. Part of being attracted to Native American Flutes is about the authenticity and craftmanship involved. Buying a cheap factory made flute is no different than molding one from plastic (they do that too!) but where is the love in that?

A googol is the number 10 multiplied by itself 100 times (written out, it would be a 1 followed by 100 zeros). That's a big number! The mathematician who came up with this asked his young nephew what such a big number should be called. The kid replied "A googol". And history was made!

Hi! I've been looking for a flute and I have considered a Native American flute. I have heard it played on TV [rarely] & I listened to you play on part of your KZbin video. it is a wonderful mellow sound. consider me a beginner on a flute. a friend gave me a recorder years ago. it's a resin material? its difficult for me to play. i am not musically inclined. A flute with 5 holes- do you have a book that shows how to play it? Anyway, for listening. Sincerely, Dia

The only import I have acquired was a "native american style" 3D printed plastic import flute from a British maker. Reason being, I needed something I could abuse - permanently in the car trunk (at 200+ degrees in Florida), crammed without protection in my off-trail backpack gear, etc. - you get the picture. The first thing I did with it was remove the crappy unicorn totem (yeah, I know, right?), remove the leather tie, and super glue the block down. I've literally immersed it in sandy seawater and it's still truckin', LOL. It definitely wasn't represented by the seller as being some kind of authentic Native American flute. I think it's dishonest when imports are passed off as if they're authentic.

I agree with the philosophy that if a flute is advertised as "native American" made, it should be made by native Americans. That's why I purchased my flute from you. My grandfather was half Cherokee and quite proud of it. It is because of him that I have an appreciation of native American culture. My Blue Bear flute is a cherished possession. Thank you Charlie! 🤚

I have one of these 3D printed flutes (low D which I can take apart for kayaking) and it's a lot of fun. To his credit, the builder never pretended to be Native American. But I have seen online sellers pushing the imported flutes claiming to be authentic Native American.

Finally, I got my Googol flute and it sounds beautiful. However, I do not know why it made so bulky. Also the sound piece is large and blowing hole still had ashes from burning tools. Charlie, should we oil the flute first? I did. Thanks
@BlueBearFlutes
@BlueBearFlutes Жыл бұрын
Hey, glad you think it's beautiful! What you may have seen fall out of the mouthpiece was certainly not Ash but rather a piece of charred wood. Sometimes, these types of things lodge themselves inside of the flute while we're making them and don't come out until later. We do everything in our power to prevent it however. You can oil it as you like to. Please be sure to follow some of my videos on doing so for more information. With regards to it being "bulky", this flute was designed based on the tone being in G and the countless requests from thousands of customers over the years. The size should be mentioned both in this video as well as its listing. I do offer a beginner flute which is sizably smaller if you're interested. Thank you again!

@84patking 2 ай бұрын
@@BlueBearFlutes thanks for your response! Don't get me wrong, I don't think 432 hz is the magical frequency, but I think it may be closer to ideal as far as sound. I actually think 421.6 hz ("Mozart's tuning fork") sounds nice. But what is really probably more important - and what likely sounds "off" to people - is equal temperament. To me, comparisons between equal temperament and true tones does yield some differences. I spent the last 20 years or so not really enjoying much of any music, preferring silence. Never formally learned an instrument. Learned one-handed piano awhile back and how to read the sheet music. But I have been researching the different scales, and I like the idea of pentatonic scales and Pythagorean tuning and have been playing with tone generators and maths. 😂 Probably overthinking it, but that's what I do. Anyway, after reviving my love of (80s) music with my nostalgia for cassette tapes, I find myself wanting to create my own music as a form of expression, and the native flute is appealing to me. Thanks for all your videos. I'll work through those 432hz videos to see your take on it.

@84patking First of all, your comments are highly appreciated! Not speaking down to anyone, only showing my forte for statistics, but typically when people have differing options, they are usually polarized against one another, so our discourse is very valuable to me and regardless of outcome, does present hope for the human condition. BIG THANK YOU! This aside, and withstanding my own philosophy of "one's experience is most valuable/to thy own self be true", one must always consider the possibility of even the tiniest failure of one's own self. "If everyone else is able to enjoy something, then I should also be able to". (Of course aside from anything considered culturally inappropriate.) This is just a consideration and not a condemnation. It is what I do myself on a daily basis. 🙏🏼🙂🙏🏼
