The differences between people who hunt and spend a lot of time in the outdoors and bushcrafters is always amusing. Nice video comparison and thanks.

Recently received my Garberg carbon and I'm pleased as punch with it but no more than I am with my five or six Companions . Have them in HD , stainless and standard thickness. Keep them scattered between several gear bags and vehicles . Most used is my Companion standard thickness carbon because it is a better slicer . Carry one on an easily breakable bead chain as a neck knife in its original sheath every day . I have dressed out and butchered five feral hogs with my standard Companion . Never had a problem with any Mora and never broke one . Likely because I treat all my knives with the same respect I give any valued piece of gear regardless of price . Knife snobs always like to honk their own horn about Mora being a "budget knife ." Have carried and used the Companion and a yellow handle Case Trapper in carbon every day for many years and will continue to do so eventhough I have numerous more expensive knives . Nice review , Sir .

Yes. "Budget" just means it's easy on your wallet. It doesn't detract from the knife's utility in any way.

I just got the companion hd and basic 511 a few months ago. Their original purpose was to live in "vehicle bags" that I put together for the cars. The problem is that I love the companion so much that I'm constantly using it around the house/property/ different weekend projects. I think I need to buy another one. If people are concerned with the blade patina, they do offer a stainless version of the HD. All of that being said, I just ordered a kansbol to be my new hunting trip/camping knife.

This story is so common. I might buy about 20 of them and basically never have to pay for another knife for the rest of my life... And give the other 18 out as presents! 😂

The advantage of the Companion is the curved handle, much more comfortable IMO. Full tang is nice but not at the expense of less comfort.

Good vid. All mora work well. It more about your preferences. Have the bushcraft black,companion and pro.I seem to use the pro more I like the shorter blade and handle. The black is great but it is not as slicey as thinner blades. If i am wanting a baton knife I like a blade of at least 6 inches. I just carry a small ax for fire preep.

I have several Mora's The Companion HD among them as well as the BCB, but not a Garberg. My CHD has a bolt built into the hilt to act as a hammer pommel. I also put a forced patina on all my HCS blades!

I have many Companions, but only one Garberg. I use my HD Companion, my Garberg is still brand new. I keep expecting the Companion to break but it keeps on going strong. I beat the snot out of it too. Fatwood is so knotty, but my Companion bashes through it.👍🏼

Mora uses C100 high carbon steel. It's the European equivalent to 1095. So far, I haven't been able to find out which brand they use. Some say, it's from Germany. Their stainless steel is from Sandvik, Sweden (12C27 / 14C28N). I couldn't find out if Sandvik also produces a C100 type steel.

The holes at the bottom of the knife sheath is useful for blowing air to the fire to, not only for remove water. Just blow thro the opening to the fire.

The cost of the Garberg cannot be justified in any reasonable way. If you find the 1/1000000% superiority of the Garberg, you died trying to find it. The Garberg cost is just not justifiable. NO. I am old and I got my first Mora many years ago....I have always had one on my belt or in my pack or somewhere, both the stainless and the carbon steel ones(and Opinels, too) Why spend too much money on not enough???

Garberg is way overpriced and not very much of an upgrade other than the sheath. Just save yourseld about $50 & get a Companion.

Its a very hollow full tang in the garberg, split off the handle and there is more air inside than there is metal, so its really not full tang even when they call it that.
@ODXT Жыл бұрын
Misinformation, you can look up how the tang actually looks like online (there's videos of people shredding the handle off). It looks nothing like a hollow skeleton tang or anything. It is literally a full tang knife.

@@nikolajc7617 Drawing or videos of people shredding the handle. It's literally a full tang. Not skeletonized. You know what, send me the video of this Garberg with more space than metal in the tang of this blade. You'll find like 3 holes at the top, 1 at the bottom, and two on the sides. The rest is solid metal.
