Great review! I ordered one yesterday. A sleeping giant. I hope that the iphone mix/minus works with a cell service video call in Whatsapp, Zoom, or FB live...that would rule the world! The "old way" is to use "an interface" like irig stream for the iphone to mixer, run mixer USB to PC, then use OBS to send audio to the phone. Then ofcourse, connect a DSLR cam to the laptop and config that in OBS. And if you have 4 people, 4 mics....most mixers have one headphone out. Great. So, the L8 does it all?

Thanks for the nice overview. This seems like the exact mixer that I was looking for when I bought mine, but I didn't know anything about mixers and went for a simple old-school analogue mixer instead, the Soundcraft EPM6, which is great, but I think I'll upgrade (or add) one from this range one of these days. Probably the L-8 as it seems the perfect size for a one-man synth band. It's a brilliant user interface allowing for a compact and light mixer too without sacrificing too many features.

I have the L-8 and love it. It is so portable. I have a RavPower 26800 mAh power brick that runs my L-8 in the field for hours.

Kenny Briggs that’s an awesome suggestion with the power bank. I’ve not tested how long it will run with a fresh set of batteries in it, but the power bank is a better (renewable option)

Just subscribed to your channel. Great review! Could you do a video on how you set it up to Adobe Audition or Garage band? Thanks!

Great suggestion. I think I'll put that together as I have it now set up with audition now and can easily do it with GB. Stay tuned.

I have a question about this machine... I want to be able to dial up my background tracks that have already been mixed and saved on a single stereo track so I can just pull up that master stereo track and play my guitar to it. Can you tell me if this machine can achieve that?
@bluecowmarketing4 жыл бұрын
You can play back other pre-recorded tracks and then dub into a new track the guitar. Don't know if that helps answer your question.

So are you plugged into the monitor output Xlr? When you play back is it showing any levels on the board when you bring up the master?

It's on the bottom. There is an area that the USB plugs into them follows a track out to the back.

No f computers are not always needed this is a standalone item and yes you can but learn , as musician I’m glad at prices multi track recording and mixer’s are so. Deceiving because they make you think they are and they’re not this truly years and it’s praiseworthy I never like computers but necessary one day are use it but not for extra track now for fx

The biggest problem i have with the newer versions primarily the L-20, is the sliders don't move automatically as you switch between the layers and or scenes. The newer versions also moved away from the podcaster by removing the hot sound bite buttons as well as the dedicated phone input. It becomes more dedicated to live music production versus what i thought it was doing which was challenging the rodecaster for pod casters live board. For this I think the fact that the faders don't slide by themselves switching between scenes is an issue. This version is perfect for what it is, the later versions are much better but move away from the pod caster. I'm not too familiar with boards with automatic sliding faders but i think the lack of that feature is going to kill them because of price tag on the later versions. The later versions are GREAT for live sound broadcasting but again i would do price versus feature comparisons before you look at the anything past the L-8. I think the L-8 is perfect if all your doing is a couple mics, phone and external audio source then you will be able to do a great podcast as well as record on the mixer for future edits... Thats my 2 cents

I think it’s pretty unreasonable to expect what youre saying at this price point.
