This video is a departure from my normal fare, but this video documents our recent trip to Indianapolis to attend the Drum Corps International World Finals to see our youngest son perform with the Blue Devils, an elite drum corps. This trip was bitter sweet for us because it is the last time we will see our son perform and compete on the competitive scene. This was his age out year and marks the end of his competitive marching career…though he still has one more semester of Longhorn (party) band before he graduates this fall!
There is no sound of the performance footage (just my voiceover) due to copyright, but down below will be a link to the Blue Devils’ channel showing their Victory Run performance for those who are interested. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the activity, you’ll be amazed at these talented young people!

My grandson did his first summer with the Blue Coats this year. My daughter was in the stadium for the finals. We saw them in Annapolis this summer. what a production! grandson comes from several generations of high school marching band. He was in the Marching Royal Dukes at James Madison University last year. There is nothing like a marching band-it’s the best! congratulations on the win!

The Bluecoats had a fabulous show this year! Marching band is the best. Lots of valuable life skills are taught in marching band. With this being your grandson’s first year with Drum Corps, you have a few more years to enjoy his participation in the activity. My son has aged out, but we still plan to attend the local shows here in Texas. Lucky for us we get the San Antonio super regional not too far from us! I will be rooting for your grandson next year!
