Depending on the boat a 1.5 day trip like this one is around $400 you are allowed to keep 2 bluefin tuna, i think yellowfin limit is 5, yellowtail 5, dorado 2...

How far can you fly line a sardine with that set up and are you adding a 1/4 oz egg weight with your leader line? Cool video
@mdirtbike
@mdirtbike 5 жыл бұрын
Sal Garcia no weight. Idk probably toss it 10 yards. The key is to get a good bait that wants to swim away from the boat, i was belly hooking the baits, seemed to work better for me
@Briguy1027
@Briguy1027 5 жыл бұрын
@@bluegas101 If you are using sardines the best bet is to not add any weight. Sometimes you need it with small anchovies. But I think bluefin prefer sardines. As far as distance goes, he's right -- it's more important for the bait to be lively. I caught a nice bluefin on a five foot cast that was terrible, but the sardine wanted to swim and went out there and got bit after a long soak, so mine was probably nose-hooked.

@@webmossWhat are You casting to that's 100 - 200 lbs? Avet's are great reels. I've also used a Penn Fathom II 2-Speed 40NLD2 and its a fantastic reel with I believe 40lbs of drag and like, 48" or so of line retrieval that is easy to cast short distances. You're not going to be casting say a 2oz bucktail 40-50yards Comfortably all day, but it can be done.

Level winds are great for yellowtail and smaller tuna. But when the fish are in the 80lbs and above range, don't be that guy. Nothing worse than seeing the school of foaming tuna disappear into the distance Cuase the guy with the calico setup has been hooked up for the last 45min and on his 8th lap around the rail.

@acgonefishing
@acgonefishing 5 жыл бұрын
putting the reel in gear may turn your live bait so reel back with your thumb. Also to know if a fish bite, put your thumb on the line gently while the line is going out. If it is a bite, you there will be resistance for the line to stop, then set the hook or reel into the fish
