Fishing aboard the Tomahawk out of Fisherman's Landing San Diego, We fished mexican waters. Weather was awesome. We found yellowtail and bluefin tuna.

I am really impressed with your tranx 500 setup. That rod absorbed all the sudden pulls of the fish putting less sudden pressure on the line and gear. Very impressive video. Going on my first 3 day trip on the royal star may 5th. Thanks for putting up this helpful video!

Kevin 213 braid to flouro knot caught the guides, caused backlash. I usually have a shorter leader but that day it was about 15 feet
@Raking2223 жыл бұрын
@@mdirtbikeah I see, that is why my leader is usually really long or really short. My top shot usually about 100 to 300 feet of flouro. I never had a knot connection caught on to the guide before. By the time your jig reaches 100 feet plus spool spinning speed had decreased dramatically. I had Tranx 500 2 years ago, did not like it, sold it and went back to my old Calcutta 700CTE. Anyhow, I saw a lot of your clips, good job. I wish I can get out on the water as much as you do.

It would be fine, pretty much anything from a 6000 diawa BG and up would do, some people say it’s easier to use spinning gear for light jigging simply just because of the style. A fiberglass rod would work wonders as well

My crew and I were on this boat last week on an overnighter and this boat (captain) sucks. I’ve never been on a boat that constantly moved. Fish were jumping all around us. On one of those moves I actually had time to take a nap in the galley. They hardly trolled. They defrosted a couple of flying fish and they never used the kite set up. The bait was not cured. When we pulls up on boils they chummed conservatively. Even though I was the only one on the boat who caught fish, I was still not happy

@roscoebrown89183 жыл бұрын
Ger rid of the level wind reel and you can cast a bait a lot further , its not that hard to learn how
@davidkirksey852110 ай бұрын
Deckhand style rod, but not a deckhand reel, no level winds for any salty deckhand. A deckhand knows the level winds do not cast as far(this defeating having an 8 foot rod)only put more stress on the line as it pulls drag, and has a drag not a smooth. Not to mention the level wind worm gear and gearing is just another part to break.
