@@USSAnimeNCC- the Japanese did that to the Ninja in real time. The story of Jiraya, Tusnade and Orochi was the most popular story of Ninjas for a long time and it only moved from there with the idea Ninja’s were basically Wizards that knew martial arts. If you know anything about the Yiga from Legend of Zelda they’re ironically more accurate to how plenty of people viewed Ninja in the day. Ninja we’re deadly and efficient but also extremely weird and eccentric because the lengths they went to be able to do the things they do were insane. From their diets, their plans, how they snuck around and disguised themselves. Three of my favorite trick of theirs is sneaking in for several days of the home of your target to feed the guard dogs in order to gain their trust, using cats to tell time based on how their eyes Dilated, and bringing a sheet that’s the same pattern as the wall and hide behind it.

I think that says something in general. Running a needed (or at least very wanted) business consistently is going to turn out much better in the long run than hoping to strike it rich on raw luck. Basically the difference between the guy who owns your local hardware store and the guy you see scratching a pile of 12 tickets in the corner of the gas station

@@1stCallipostle Short run as well, someone selling hot meals would make a lot more in a day then many miners would. On top of that, it was the frontier, railroads wasn't a thing yet and it was very dangerous territory. Not a lot of people wanted to risk their lives by selling bean stew and some booze in the middle of nowhere. If you did however, chances where good you had an unintentional monopoly (unless there was a big scale mine owner in town because if it was you'd bet your ass they owned the saloon as well) because not a lot of people where lining up to provide competition.

Yeah because we would rather romanticize the genocide of the indigenous instead of focusing on the fact that white people were killing each other over slavery long before the Civil War actually started. Oh also the Mormons would very much like it if everyone would ignore their own history of violence and terrorism they committed against other Americans in their failed bid to establish a theocratic monarch in the US.

Arizona still has places like Kingman, Hardyville, and Oatman with historic sites like Fort Mohave, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Gold Road Mine. My grandpa told us a lot of tales about what it was like living here in the west and according to him it was BORING. He said that the most exciting thing that happened around town was when a group of counterfeiters were found and so a bunch of people went to arrest them. And for those who are wondering he lived (still does) in Arizona and since they were a small farm (only had about 100 cows according to him) nobody was dumb enough to steal from them instead of the large farms which is much easier to steal from. Edit:grammar and I realized that if this was true my grandpa would be really old. I made a mistake and I would probably take what this comment says with a grain of salt. Thanks for the comments clarifying for me

The whole point of western movies is that when the big gunfights, robberies, Indian raid, stuff like that happened it was memorable. @@BlueJayYT My esteemed audience, back in my day, the world was but a strange and surreal place, where esoteric truths were whispered in hushed tones and danced on the fringes of perception. But alas, the tides have turned, and we find ourselves in an era where frenworld has become clownworld, a carnival of absurdity and incongruity. Amidst this chaotic tableau, let me tell you a tale of a shy girl of Indonesian descent, hailing from the quaint province of Brabant, Belgium. She, in her uniqueness, stood as the sole beacon of individuality among three girls who had found solace in adoption. From an early age, she bore the weight of a diagnosis known as ADD, that enigmatic acronym signifying "Autism Denial Disorder" in the language of the English. Maya, for that was her name, embodied the stereotype of a NEET, though she defied the norms by being a female. Within her, social withdrawal grew like a tangled vine, entwining her spirit and rendering her dependent and introverted. Few friends graced her presence, and the walls of her autism crippled her ability to engage with the outside world. A peculiar existence indeed, for Maya was no stereotypical hero, devoid of courage and burdened with apathy and reluctance. Her relationships were marked by passivity, her social anxiety casting doubts upon the worth of her being, leaving her disheartened, yearning for a raison d'être. Seeking to fill the void, she sought solace in the realms of anime and offered technical support to a certain Coco, whose nature eludes my comprehension. But what, you may ask, does this enigmatic tale have to do with the Jacks and the soy? Fear not, for I shall connect the ethereal threads. Within the realm of these strange communities, a Jack is but an entity, bearing the essence of soy, embodying a symbol of submission to a particular narrative. Gem and coal they may be, akin to upvotes and downvotes in other realms, each carrying its own weight and significance. Cobson, however, traversed a different path, as a coal forced into existence, forever marked by his inauthenticity. And so, my dear compatriots, as I stand before you today, stripped of levity and armed with this harrowing revelation, I beseech you to heed my words. Behold the shifting tides of our existence, where war has assumed the mantle of deity, casting its shadow upon the fabric of our lives. In the depths of "Blood Meridian," I discovered the indelible truth, woven by the pen of CornCob Muccarthy, whose likeness bears a disquieting resemblance to the essence of my own being. War, my friends, stands as an undeniable force, an unsparing arbiter of destiny that transcends mortal boundaries. Through the pages of that unforgettable tapestry, I bore witness to the relentless march of violence, an all-encompassing tempest leaving nothing but chaos and ruin in its wake. The divine authority it wields surpasses mortal limitations, demanding our attention and reverence. Therefore, as we stand on the precipice of this epoch, let us not falter, nor turn a blind eye to the perils that surround us. Embrace the revelations of CornCob Muccarthy's illustrious prose, for within its pages lies a path to wisdom and understanding. Let literature guide us in this tumultuous journey, as we navigate the enigmatic labyrinth of our world, seeking solace amidst the swirling storms of war, absurdity, and even the enigmatic realm of Israel.

The bit about the bison shows how Canadian and American history are pretty similar actually. Canada had similar ambitions as the United States in wanting to populate its Western area using railroads... and the wiping out of the bison which led to conflict with indigenous people, specifically the Metis (indigenous ppl of mixed French Canadian and indigenous descent).

I knew a man who was a real “cowboy” in Montana in the 1940s-1950s. He was an orphan, adopted by a family that owned a 10,000 acre ranch. He didn’t miss it when he got old enough to leave. Doing 2 week shifts living in a remote “line shack “ with his horse, checking fences, helping cows give birth, repairing windmills, breaking ice on ponds and troughs in the winter so the cattle could drink, slathering Vaseline on cow’s udders, because they got sunburned from sunlight reflecting off of the snow, and they wouldn’t let the calves nurse because it hurt. The winters were brutal.

Dont need to go to a restaurant and a cinema when you can play cards with your friends drinking moonshine (bimber), play football in the park or whatever. The only places with truly miserable work would be the few poorest countries in Africa... thats kinda it. Being poor in Asia or South America is still ten times better than being a coal miner anywhere two hundred years ago.
@josecarlosmoreno9731
@josecarlosmoreno9731 2 ай бұрын
@@aw2584 High infant and maternal mortality, low life expectancy, ease of debilitating injury or illness, violence from crime, blood feuds, war, a state of fear of the government or local mafia, struggling to afford basic necessities, long work hours, unsafe working conditions, vulnerability to the weather, etc. Not everyone in the 3rd world is poor, and a lot of parts of the 1st world may as well be 3rd world level. A lot of people also just either cope by or are dumb/delusional enough to simply accepting a horrible life as normal and therefore "acceptable". It seems the vast majority of people in the 1st world I've known suffer most of their lives and simply refuse to admit it to others, but if you count up the days they're tired, in pain, depressed, it far outnumbers the moments they aren't, and that's with all the comforts afforded by parasitizing off the 3rd world. If people weren't miserable then how do you explain the suicide and murder rates, war and crime, drug addictions, malaise, domestic problems, loneliness, popular unrest, etc? It's not the luxuries like cinema that affect the level of misery, it's the physical, health and economic security and the level of atomization that affect misery. I don't know about Poland but I know much of Eastern Europe was absolutely brutalized by economic liberalization with children being prostituted on the streets as the whole economy was transformed from somewhat serving the public to serving private interests both domestic and Western. Though Poland also doesn't count afaik as 3rd world as it's still part of the American imperial core even if it is among the poorer of those nations, idk.

When we finally got to the old town gallows the guide spilled the beans about how deadwood was an extremely safe and peaceful community. She explained that in the 40ish years between the founding of the town and 1905 there were only two murders within the town limits and that both killers were dualy tried convicted and hanged for their crimes.

This is a great example of how tales get churned and turned over time and when the real facts and context is stripped away, it all seems so magical and cool. Humanity is only now (as in, within a little over the last century) able to "properly" capture events in real time by means of video recordings, and even then now we still have to deal with stories being manipulated into misdirection arguably even faster than before.

Red Dead Redemption main story unfolds in second game that take place in 1899, placing it squarely in the Wild West era. The epilogue occurs in 1911, so it's accurate to consider the game as part of the Wild West genre.

RDR2 is meant to show the death of the wild west. They made that very clear. The western outlaw lifestyle is going extinct. There are numerous lines in the main mission dialogue like "there ain't no room for folks like us in the world anymore" "our way of life is dying" and shit like that. It depicts industrialization taking over, and the Pinkertons hunting down the last of the outlaws. The Pinkerton Detective Agency was actually the only name that was kept from real life in the game. They were depicted as villians in the game, but in real life they were far worse. They slaughtered factory workers for going on strike. They were hired by both government and large corporations to go after outlaws and workers who wanted rights.

4:00 I know you're trying to make it sound like it was just as much federally controlled as anywhere else, but it genuinely was as far from control as you could get. While papers nearly a thousand miles away claimed the land for the Union, it wasn't like they had a hard enforcement of the area. Land borders on paper were rigid, but hard to truly enforce. To us living in the age of instant communication technical and practical ownership may seem one in the same, but the further back you go the more you realize just how much wiggle room you had.
