Maresca has impressed me by realizing the squad isn’t ready for his ideal style so he just reverted it back to basics to make it easier. In the preseason and the first game there was a huge focus on one touch,two touch passing strictly. After that city game he saw it was too soon and relaxed that. I only see him yelling to move the ball quicker when we’re being trapped in the middle of the pitch. As the season progresses I think the team will naturally learn how to play the way he wants more and more.

Start Nico on the left and Nkunku up top, Palmer in 10 and Neto on the right wing. This is our most energetic attack for our stongest pressing. Neto will feed Nkunku well. Also, the front line can switch in game.

@@Blackstari if you already have a RW and a striker that basically act as a front two, it’s still useful to have a ball playing LW in sancho. Neto or mudryk would be nice but debating the fit of each of them would be endless because the reality is Liverpool away presents an opportunity to attack that each of them has a skillset to exploit. I’d be more interested in playing a LW that suits what the RW is doing for the cohesion of the side. If maresca picks a very direct RW, he will likely go for sancho on the left. It would make the most sense to play mudryk late if Liverpool pushes for a goal. If Liverpool decides to sit back, sancho or Felix will be on the left late game.

This is more of a test for Liverpool than Chelsea, since they haven't played any of the top ranked teams in the league yet. There is more pressure on them to win the league than us and they are expected to win at home. We should be more relaxed entering this game. I just feel they are more like where Tottenham was at the top of the league at the beginning of last season, playing a new system without much experience with that style of play, then they came crashing when they started to play the better teams and a few injuries set in.

If you guys were the managers we would certainly get beat most times than not.Every time you change the lineup and some of these changes make no sense. 1.Neto played 2 times on the LW and wasn't good but yah lets remove someone who has been good there and put him. This game is not even about who has pace (because konate,trent and van dijk aren't slow) but its who has the technic to beat the fullback and shoot. Neto is a touch and run winger which worked at wolves(because liverpool will generally play a high line there) but do you think they will in this game 2.And why would you invert veiga and let gusto be a 3rd centre back when you know more times than not Van dijk and trent will be spraying balls up top but yah one of our shortest player is in the CB the only change that only makes sense is lavia for caicedo and play a diamond mid when we invert such that we have potentially 6 players who are defensively capable when we defend but caicedo and gusto can also join the attack when needed. 6 attack 6 defend
