I had Julie!!! I loved Julie!!! Then, my mom got freaked out by her telling us her batteries were getting low and to turn her off now. 😆 The best doll I ever had, hands down.

I had her when I was about 8 and loved her so much. I used to put her in the freezer and she'd say something like "Brrr, it's cold in here" or say that it was dark. I have never forgot about her. She got left behind when we moved and weren't allowed to take anything with us 😢

Awww you got a Julie doll. :-) She's a surprisingly charming doll when you get to play with her. She's even more charming with the voice cards in. It expands her memory a bit so when she reads, she'll launch into topics. As a person with interest in tech, I found her fascinating. Texas instruments did her voice tech. She's related to the speak and spell apparently. Same lead guy who is well known in voice recognition studies.

Louise Cooper She can't remember where she's been. She's just a simple doll that talks. She has sensors for light and dark. She can tell if she is being picked up. And she can sort of tell if it's cold or warm.

I vaguely recall this doll or another one exactly like it having its own one-shot cartoon -- meant to promo it of course, The doll grew into a life-sized girl when she did her stuff I recall. Most memorable was the cartoon's perky song, that was "We're or Want to be Friends" or something like that. I most caught her commercials during Captain Power and Dragons & Dungeons cartoon show and the Small Wonder girl robot sitcom. You're right that that it was like a prototype robot. Looking back, that was one darn advanced doll for its time. I can't think hearing of anything today like it.

The button on her back isn't a reset button hence why she didn't do anything when you pushed it, it's the teach button when pressed you could teach her to understand another person's voice. I read the instruction manual online and found out that was what that button was used for

This is most likely one of the Texas Instruments chips. Although it had recorded speech, it still needed a carrier to set the pitch.

The speech is recorded, though it is in an odd format called lpc which is all about using sawtooth waves to generate everything. The original ferbies used this kind of speech as well.

Since she said that Talking Julie was the last thing that WOW made and this just so happens to be her last video, I find that to be a very interesting, cool, and subtle way to end her channel. Though i'm sure we all wish she would come back it looks like she unfortunately wont. I just hope that she is alright, we miss you, Blueoctopede.

Well, I've got 3 Worlds Of Wonder Teddy Ruxpins which sort of work but none of them work that well, My BackPack and Yes versions of Teddy Ruxpin are still working pretty well, but I've kind of lost interest in Teddy a bit to be honest. I still love Teddy Ruxpin, but I've just lost interest in it.

Lachlant1984 I have 2 worlds of wonder bears and 1 playskool teddy. one of them is a 3rd gen teddy and he works fine. my other teddy is a 1st gen teddy, and his cassette player and upper mouth work fine, but I cant get his lower jaw or eyes to move. and my playskool teddy's 8 track player works fine, but his facial movements don't move.

+Yuki Cross You will have to search the second-hand/used market, and maybe Thrift stores, though I have not seen a Julie in a thrift store for 15 years now. WoW made them only in 1986/1987. History I heard: Toys-r-Us insisted on being sole retailer, though WoW wanted to sell via high-end toy/doll retailers. TrU forced such a low wholesale price on WoW that manufacturing profit was very low, speeding the demise of WoW. TrU shot self in foot however as there was no money for advertising. TrU was stuck with HUGE stock of toy that no one had heard of. TrU eventually sponsored TV screening of 'Meet Julie' special, but without months of pre-Xmas adverts it was not enough.

Since you came back I saw this video and I'm pretty sure I'd seen it before, but I also remember that I once had a talking doll when I was very small, like 4 or so, but can't remember exactly which doll it was. I remember talking about it before and I think someone mentioned it might've been this one. The only things I remember about it was that it said "apple juice" a lot. I think I thought that was the doll's name. I do remember the doll's mouth moved, but how I remember it is that it moved more in and out rather than up and down, but I'm not 100% about that. I can't recall if it blinked and I'm pretty sure I never had any of the books as, much like the Teddy Ruxpin I had, chances are it was acquired secondhand as this came out several years before I was even born. Do you think it could have been this doll, or if not, do you have any ideas?

It could have been this doll, yeah! There was also a doll like Julie named Pamela, also made by Worlds of Wonder, but her eyes and mouth didn't move. The only other thing I could think of that your doll could've been is one of the early Baby Alive dolls.. I don't know about either saying "apple juice" a lot though.

I think I can name your doll for you. I believe her name was “baby loves to talk“ by toy biz. You could program her to but she wasn’t as interactive is Julie is. When you first get her, she will say all sorts of weird baby words and you have to teach her the correct way to say those words. Once she learns to talk she says stuff like “baby like apple juice“. “Duck says quack quack!“ And daddy and mommy and all the other normal baby stuff. And to answer your question, WoW (Worlds of Wonder) filed for bankrupt in 1987, was liquidated in 1988, and permanently shut down in 1990.
