This, the Mormonism aspect is not being addressed enough. I hate that people TIPTOE around Mormonism because it’s been normalized as a legit religion , like no, they deserve to be exposed and criticized. Loudly. Maybe then people would feel more comfortable leaving and seeking therapy afterward. His behavior is very much as you described, cult induced trauma in need of deprogramming. The joking about his “blood boy” is just… very deranged. He’s pretty far removed from having any perspective at the moment. The things he’s accomplished are incredible, it’s clear he capable of functioning on some level but where he’s at right now is so concerning. Mentally unwell and unfathomably wealthy are not a good combo for an individual’s well being.

This guy is a nut case, but I kinda get certain points of the whole "fighting aging" thing. I have issues with hypermobility, and it's causing me to develop really early onset arthritis in most of my main joints (hips, knees, elbows, etc.). It's painful, really painful, and if someone looked me in the eyes and said "doing ______ will completely reverse your joint damage", I'd at least heavily consider it. But that's not how joints or bodies work, and I have to accept that. I can't imagine going that far down the rabbit hole for my own personal, and completely theoretical, gain.

This is common to many people who leave their faith. There's a whole cottage industry of atheists on youtube (not *those* guys) who make content discussing these topics. Belief It Or Not, Paulogia, and Emma Thorne are some of my favorites. Aron Ra has also been a *long time* activist for atheists in the US and is a generally progressive, well-intentioned person although a lot of his content is also focused on specifically pushing back against creationism, and sharing his interests in various fields including archaeology and taxonomy.

That’s an interesting perspective. As an X Mormon also, I actually kind of felt the opposite. I was born with a disability, and never really felt like I belonged no matter what ward I went to, and I also never really felt or heard the Holy Ghost so when I found out it was a load of crock, I was so relieved. I was so glad I didn’t have to try to live up to these ridiculous standards, and that I wasn’t just going to hell because I couldn’t measure up or hear the spirit. The becoming a god yourself stuff seemed kind of cool, but all the stuff you had to do to get there was kind of insane. I could absolutely see why someone would try to live forever if they attempted to deconstruct, but still had a dread for hell or eternity. It took a few years to shake that for me.

i was raised religious and even when i lost faith, i kind of always accepted that there would be something after death.. idk.. the afterlife was just taken for granted. and then Alan Rickman, of all people.. died. I've had a crush on him since Robinhood. i don't have a lot of family. i honestly hadn't seen someone i related to die since i lost faith, so i guess i was never challenged to think about it. and it sounds dumb, but it was literally the first time i thought of someone being dead and realising that there is nothing after that. that you would be buried or whatever and you would just cease to be. and my religion wasn't anything like mormonism - just a regular anglican, maybe went to church a few times as a child, type of thing. but it was scary to think about just not existing, it still kind of gives me the heebees because it IS an existential crisis, your sense of self and your place in the universe is forever changed I get why Bryan would be terrified of dying, of needing to hold on to this plane because everything he was raised to look forward to is a lie... but whats the point of clinging, if you're not even happy?! he is trapped in his existance, all over again and its not a way to live

I think another hilarious thing about all the pills he takes is that without a doubt half of them are canceling the effects of the other half out. As an example, a calcium supplement blocks the absorption of an iron supplement if taken together. Although the greatest danger is some can increase the absorption or effect of others. So he’s literally burning money doing it, and damaging his body.

As a non-Mormon who lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 7 years, it sounds like this guy went through what most ex-Mormons go through after he left the church. When I was dating, I met a lot of great people who basically said "I spent my whole life following whatever the church told me to do and listening to their morals. And as soon as I left, I had to figure that all out again for myself. There was no baseline anymore." Except most people didn't have millions of dollars to waste on bad science that would turn them into living AI chat bots. I think the only thing good that will come from his bad science is that he's funding the bad science no one else will and is proving why it's bad. I think it would be better spent funding a Journal if Failed Medicine and Other Science that publishes all of those doctoral and whatever experiments that the vast majority of students sign up to do but produces no results so they (1) Don't get published, (2) Face delays in finishing, (3) Are duplicates of other studies that didn't work but no one knows about because there's no way for them to have known they were already done so itd money any time straight down the drain, and (4) Stifles innovation because instead of duplicating what does work they could instead be looking at the variables to figure out what might work thereby contributing to overall well-being. The worst about science is that we only celebrate what produces sexy results. We shouldn't be afraid to talk about what works, or only discuss the things that don't work for sexy topics. Instead of looking at it that it's equally as important to know why a vaccine works on this set of pathogens as to know why other things don't improve hair growth, we should be looking at why something doesn't inhibit tumor growth or changes colors of orange varieties without changing flavor.

is it possibble to safely take 100 different supplements if the dosis in each one is low / adjusted to what your liver can handle well? or would consuming such a large variety of ingredients that are isolated from their natural food source always put more strain on you organs than a healthy diet with whole foods?
@Cattafang
@Cattafang 7 ай бұрын
@@sophiemay9645 it *may* be possible if the dosage in each supplement is low, though taking that many at one time does still run the risk of going past a vitamin's upper intake level, which is the maximum amount of a vitamin a person can take without risking an overdose. some vitamins, like vitamin B or vitamin C, are water-soluble, so the body can just remove the excess in urine. however the fat-soluble vitamins, like vitamin A or vitamin K, can't be removed that easily since they normally get stored in fatty tissues or the liver, so excess can build up over time and cause issues. ultimately, the safest way to get your daily vitamins is to try and eat healthily, as well as to be aware of what vitamins you get from your food, how much of it provides to your daily intake, and what vitamins you might be missing or not getting enough of. taking supplements can definitely help with giving your body additional amounts of vitamins and other minerals that your normal diet might lack, though using them as a replacement for a well-balanced meal like bryan is doing is definitely not the way to go about taking them.

He was taking mega-doses of hundreds of supplements a day, and had a big routine and schedule about when to take what, while eating certain things. It was really pathological. After a couple of years I "intervened" and took all his bottles to my house. He was kind of mad, but eventually we came to negotiated solution, where he limited how many pills a day he'd take, and cut out the mega-doses to RDA. It's taken him all these years to say calmly, "Everybody has to die eventually". We're both pretty healthy physically, but I think we're in the ballpark of not being insane about it.

They claim that the body is acidic, which is complete nonsense, however, even if it were true to “alkalize the body” one would have to alkalize the blood. But our body maintains the pH of the blood between 7 -7.4, which is already alkaline. If you were to alkalize it further, you would not have to worry about illness because you would be dead. Don’t worry, though, about alkaline water killing you. Our stomach is strongly acidic and any base that enters is immediately neutralized. The still acidic contents of the stomach then pass into the intestine where they are neutralized by alkaline secretions from the pancreas. So all of the water we drink ends up being alkaline anyway. I remember seing so much misinformation about that during the pandemic, I saw a thing being shared on whatsapp saying that the covid virus couldn't survive in an acidic environment (?), therefore you should consume alkaline foods (??), and it gave a few examples, including lemon juice (???), and some other examples were said to have pH values of, like, 21 (????). It's bullshit, it's people confidently using terms that seem complicated to a lot of other people who didn't get a great education, knowing that that's enough for them to be believed even when it's just wrong and potentially dangerous.

Coming from a chronically ill person, there's a lot wrong with this. From the waste of medical resources he doesn't need while others struggle to afford their lifesaving treatments, to the idea that people might buy into this "healthy" routine based on false information. Honestly the guy just seems like he needs serious mental help, and to have people in his circle tell him that. He has so much money that it doesn't matter to him whether, or not these ideas are reasonable before funding them. This obsession with not just being fit, but being a literal teenager again, and this weird compulsive behavior to achieve it is just so unhealthy. He has to be scrutinizing every physical detail 24/7, that's mentally damaging AF Imagine the effort his body must go through to process 100+ pills everyday on limited calories. He also took a bunch of prescription meds at one point. He consistently looks sick, and frail compared to how he looked before. He seems to have a savior complex while being completely disconnected from the people he wants to "save". Probably left over from the church, but instead of being one of many chosen people to save the world.. he's gonna do it all by himself, or make his own line of chosen ones. Like if he can't get everlasting Mormon utopia in the afterlife, then he'll create that utopia in this current life? I wonder if he still holds onto fears of his soul being damned, so he can't ever let his current life come to an end? Maybe without the promise of forever in heaven, life seems too short for him now? Whatever it is, shits not helping him. Idgaf how much they're being paid, why tf are doctors allowing this in their presence? Like at the very least theyre keeping him alive.. good god that's a low bar though. Get that man a damn therapist, and pleeeaase stop giving him my meds! His son was also in a pretty vulnerable place when he agreed to do the blood, and plasma transfusions. His son had just left the Mormon church, and likely had no one else on the outside to turn to. Him, and his father had not talked in years prior to this. His family dropped all contact with his father after he left the Mormon church. So the combination of wanting to reconnect with a father you havent been allowed to speak to all these years, leaving everything you had ever known behind, AND the power imbalance of his father having massive amounts of wealth/influence.. yeeeaa that's pretty fucking questionable. The nerve to even ask that of his son knowing the vulnerable position he was in, and that it absolutely was not medically necessary in any way is beyond baffling. His son may feel like it's no big deal, but from an outside perspective it's looking pretty messed up. Very bizarre priorities for a father to have. He should be ensuring his young adult son has proper support, and fulfilling experiences. Rather than trying to reclaim his own sense of youth. For anyone unfamiliar, when someone leaves the Mormon church, they are excommunicated from their community. Often that means families, and friends do not talk to loved ones who have left, unless they agree to come back to the church. People who leave have to drop all contact, they are not allowed in the temple which means no access to weddings, funerals, baptisms, or other significant family events held in sacred spaces. If the church finds out a family kept in contact with someone who left, that family will be shamed until they break contact. This isn't always the case, but it is incredibly common. Often people who leave Mormonism have no support system at all, they've been cut off from everything they ever knew. People who are "lucky" know someone who already left the church before they did, and can hopefully go to them for support. This can be especially nice when the person you turn to DOESN'T HAVE A TENDENCY TO ASK FOR YOUR YOUNG BLOOD JFC WTH!? Pure insanity.

Thing is, most therapists I've gone to can't work through the grief the loss of my dad left me, like, it's just one example, but losing him as a kid was one of all issues I had. My mom goes through therapy/psychologists to cure her 40 year old trauma from being left out from Jehovas witnesses, yet, she still isn't cured. I deeply don't think that 99% of therapists could handle Bryan and his unique thinking, therapists are quite okay at teaching out some of the most basic breathing exercises that sometimes work in a panic attack. "go to therapy" is something people who want to seem full of empathy, but has no clue about what that is. I think Bryan is quite wacky, but to say "he needs therapy" is.... well.. it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It strips agency from him and makes him seem like a person we are to talk about-- not with. Is every eccentric thinker someone who should go to therapy?

Yeah, it’s honestly kinda sad and sounds like a case of mania or some other disorder (obviously I don’t want to armchair diagnose him, though) I know someone who went through an episode of mania where she became hyper spiritual/like a completely different person because she was prescribed SSRIs for depression. Turns out, you shouldn’t prescribe SSRIs for manic depression. She thought she could “heal” people, and would hear voices among other stuff. She ended up being hospitalised and wondered why no one questioned why she was suddenly not herself. So whenever I hear of people suddenly changing like that after having some kind of “spiritual awakening” I’m always cautious that they may be in a state of mania. That’s particularly true if they develop a “God complex” like Bryan has - it’s often a symptom. It’s one of the reasons I’ll never take drugs recreationally or for a spiritual experience - I like my brain the way it is (even with ADHD, OCD, anxiety and depression lol) and don’t want this type of stuff happening to me. With how many billionaires I’ve seen who seem normal at first and then gradually become more and more bizarre, I also wonder if drug use was involved. Like, they can just get anything whenever they want and probably don’t surround themselves with people who say “no”. Like, Elon seemed pretty stable until the past few years and he was always seen doing them when he wasn’t taking about how hard he works, so 🤷🏻‍♀

i don't know if i've left a comment on this before, but honestly i think bryan's attempts to achieve immortality are basically just the final stage of any billionaire who has amassed massive wealth, and we're seeing it with bryan early because of his complicated relationship with spirituality. when your life has been dedicated to hoarding massive amounts of wealth, what does that mean when you die? did you waste your life just in the pursuit of money that you didn't use as meaningfully as you could have (which, if you're a billionaire, you automatically haven't because you could single handedly fund meaningful efforts to deal with issues plaguing our whole planet and choose not to)? well if you'll never die, not only do you not have to deal with these existential questions, but you can just keep amassing wealth beyond any individual person's ability to comprehend while maybe giving a pittance of it to charities to make it seem like you are actually doing something.

Weirdly, as a 23 year-old, I have a lot of experience in a lot of the topics of this video, so story time. I'm brazilian, just to clear things up. At 15, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I tried all the tradicional medicine and none of them made a dent in my symptoms (which cause severe blood loss and repeated ulcers in the same spots, which tends to be dangerous). After a year, the only treatments left were ones where I'd have to go to a clinic monthly to have medicine vein infusion, and that scared the hell out of my parents and I. So my mom decided to pull the brakes and try every alternative medicines we could find. I did superdosing of vitamin D (kinda helped), microkinesiotherapy (crazy stuff), a few different pseudo-psychological approaches, spiritual surgeries, the whole spectrum, with no huge impact. So my dad's work colleague started seeing a doctor that helped him "change his lifestyle and be healthy" and theoretically solved his high blood pressure. We were on a waiting list for months, and the appointment was close to a month's minimum wage in Brazil. The place was extremely fancy, huge Apple electronics, a huge window over the city, etc. He told stories about how he had allegedly cured a girl's cancer and then proceeded to prescribe me 42 daily pills (supplements and actual medicine), and said I would no longer be allowed to eat gluten, dairy, corn, soy, tomato, sugar, animal products, or cook with any type of oil (without a meal plan like a nutritionist would provide). We spent another month's salary with the pills that needed to be custom ordered, and I just. Couldn't. Take them. Some of them were huge, they all tasted horribly and there's no amount of food that can keep that taste away. After like 20, I felt like I would throw up, and sometimes did. My parents became mad at me because the whole thing was so expensive, and it didn't help my symptoms at all. I spent Christmas eating only like plain steamed potatoes and kept losing weight. Everything was so overwhelming, the pain from the symptoms, the weakness from anemia, the amount of pills, the diet, my parents' pressure, that I lost a good 30 pounds weighing around 90 at the worst point. I ruined Christmas, New Years, and the only family trip we've ever taken with my grandparents. We gave up, and I started the monthly clinic infusions, and I'm in remission. Since then, other doctors and nutritionists were horrified with what this man put me through, saying that these pills interfered with each other and ended up doing nothing but overwhelm my liver and kidneys (I also got a kidney stone during the "treatment"). So moral of the story: a bunch of pills don't do you any good. The other thing is that my boyfriend has just returned from a 6-month exchange program to Ecuador, and I stayed there for a month. It's hilarious to think of an american missionary being sad about the state of things there, because in latin america, those who know Ecuador call it an extension of the United States. It has huge military bases, the economy is dollar-based, and the US has interfered with most elections there in the past 30 years or more. Outside of that the country is culturally rich and their people just voted to not explore oil in the Amazon forest, so they're a bit better at decision-making than a good amount of americans. Using that as an excuse to become a multi-millionaire with a company that doesn't even reach Ecuador is kind of hilarious. That's all sorry for the huge text
