How in the hell is this guy not in the R+R Hall of Fame? Certainly one of the greatest rock singers in the last 50 years. Shameful!

No need for the RRHOF crap as he doesn't need that false accolade. Have you seen some of the crap that's in it?

The night of the Zeppelin reunion, Atlantic anniversary in 88 on HBO, lots of acts. This was Otis Redding's band w/Steve Cropper & Duck Dunn. I almost fell off my chair when he announced Paul Rodgers to do Otis' signature tune. Rodgers' 1st gig since dissolution of the Firm. He nailed it. Even threw in Bad Co reference about sitting in the "morning sun". As he left the stage, Cropper, who knew better than any, said Otis would've been proud of Rodger's performance. Indeed he would.

I was 16 at the time and still remember that show. This song and Yes doing Hold On were unforgettable. Zep was horrible and that was why I tuned in lol.

I met Paul while he was standing on Daytona beach, in a swim suit, with hands held up to the sun. It was very early in the morning, after his Firm show the night before. The only ones on that beach were him and me, and the seagulls that surrounded him. Nicest man ever. Nicest voice ever.

Paul Rodgers is an incredible vocalist. Here he is smooth as silk. But he can sing rough as well. To me he's the best.

Thanks for the upload. I thought they did a great job with this song. Paul Rodgers very dynamic, yet respectful of the original recording here. He has an uncanny ability to sing with his "head voice" and then kick in the diaphragm full force in a very smooth transition with no loss of control. Great balance of technique and feel. He puts his heart and soul into his singing. My favorite singer of all time.

It's like he makes it his own without making it about him (if that makes sense to anyone else)

One of the finest moments of a great evening, and a direction that Paul would revisit on Muddy Water Blues and the Royal Sessions. Simply one of the greatest. And a rock and rock hall of famer even without a hall of fame.

What they didn't show was Steve Cropper walking up to the mic after the end and saying "Otis would have been proud of that one". Paul Rodgers can pretty much sing everything

i dont think its right to say whos best and whos not,, everyone has a different style and varying degrees of talent and everyones taste is different, i personally think paul is the best rock and blues singer of all time but i love lots of other singers too, especially the oldies, otis, jimi hendrix, marvin gaye etc, i think its ok to like whoever you want!!!:-)

to clarify: The band is a mix: Shaffer and Malone were in both SNL band, Letterman band and Blues Bros Band (Shaffer on record and live but not movie as did Tom Scott), Fig, McGinniss are from Letterman, Cropper & Dunn both MGs and Blues Bros bands, Marini and Rubin played in Blues Brothers and SNL bands.

I live in NY and I play guitar. Back in 1996 I was listing my car in classifieds. Guy calls me and comes over to look at my car with his 16 year old son. I couldn't figure out who he was cause he looked familiar. After asking-pleading -with him he told me who he was- "Late Night" he said. "With David Letterman?" I asked. "yeah". "Oh your the guitar player from late night!" I nearly freaked! I couldnt believe it. Well he bought the car from me for his son and BTW his name was Sid McGuinness!

Paul Rodgers is essentially a Tenor voice whereas Otis was a Baritone so maybe this song would be better performed in a slightly different key althogh tis is only a minor quibble cause lets be honest, its Paul Rodgers who is just the best Blues/ Rock singer, after Frankie Miller, this Isle has ever produced in my humble opinion, but all is open to discusion and taste of course.

Yes, this is awesome, but to call this the Blues Brothers Band is about like calling Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses or even calling this band, the World's Most Dangerous Band or the CBS Orchestra. Just because some of the members are the same, doesn't make it the same band. P.S. This is also not Booker T. and the MG's.
