Please correct me if I am wrong, as I have not actually looked this up, but I believe that, to qualify for the federal tax credit, this backup system has to be permanently attached to your electrical system, not something you can plug in and unplug. It MIGHT also be the case that the install has to be done by a licensed electrician, and you also MIGHT need a home energy audit performed by a licensed audit company. In short, there are hoops to jump through. You'll have to be persistent, informed, and dedicated to get that 30% tax credit. It is, IMO, a great alternative to a gas generator as long as you have a decently large solar array.

Yes, definitely do the homework! Your comment made me realize that I hadn't linked the IRS Tax Credit information like I'd mentioned (now fixed). And I did read through that information beforehand and didn't see any specific requirements on the topics you mentioned...but there could be more to it than it appears (it IS the government, after all. :P )

Good Review... however, Middle port on side is single cable with dual set of MC4 input connections for separate Solar Panel charging capability going to dual MPPT Controllers. Bottom Port is for Communication sync if two AC300's were combined for 240 volt output.

Nice catch! I didn't focus as much on the solar input testing on this first video and completely missed that one. Thanks for the correction. I'll be talking more about that in the follow-up 240V configuration video next month and I'll be sure to correctly clarify that.

Excellent work again. I look forward to your transfer switch installation video. I installed one myself on my panel a number of years ago to work with my gas generator. I'd like to setup a secondary inlet inside my house next to the panel for plugging in a battery system like this. I'd appreciate if you could speak to that scenario.

LOL @ Lethal Weapon reference! Great Video again and awesome you can plug it directly into the switch box to power the house, is that a common thing in the US? Also following on to that if indeed its common thing, you could do a video for people who already have solar installed but have no battery and older style inverters that don't allow adding battery's in without replacing the whole solar setup effectively. Great video.

Any cost savings due to time of use offset isn’t as much as you are stating. You have the amount of power that it takes to charge the batteries up and there is a loss due to inefficiency, and then you have to take in consideration, calculating the loss of efficiency of the power going back through The inverter. I think I saw somebody else calculate a 5% loss going into the batteries and an 8 to 11% loss depending on how warm they get the batteries. At the very least it’s going to be $240 -15%, so maybe closer to 200 bucks. And then of course there’s a cost of tying into your panel, paying an electrician to do that, and then any material that he may need to do that as well. I think if anything, it’s really neat to have a battery back up, but unless you go with a cheaper system by just doing banks of batteries by 48 V cells in a server rack, or a bunch of 12 V 200 amp batteries set up in series in parallel, any of these monsters will not be the economical approach.

Scotland. 240V 50Hz as is. Cost needs come down but combined solar & wind is the way to go... :)

I did not know that. I guess that power station setting was customized for Japan.

Why would an AC inverter with no battery storage weigh so much?
@ReeWrayOutdoors
@ReeWrayOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
Actually the AC300 itself is not nearly as heavy as those B300's. I think the AC300 alone is just under 50lbs...and I was probably groaning a bit more than strictly necessary for dramatic effect. LOL But the B300s are definitely 'groan-worthy' at about 80 lbs each! But you might still be thinking that 50 lbs is a lot for a unit with no battery-weight...and it is. And I would attribute that to high-quality components and materials and rugged construction.

Why is it so difficult or repulsive to read the manual first....and at least find out what the supplied cables are for, without having to stop the video and then return later? Do it once before you turn on the camera... Sheesh!

Is there one, if you can recommend, a portable home backup station that can be recharged by a home outlet in addition to solar. Thank you.
