I love bear in the big blue house. I still listen to the theme song, and I'm 16. But yes, I'm glad that the heelers stayed. It would ruin the whole show if they didn't. Besides, if fans watched Daddy drop off, then they would've gotten a hint that they were staying because it showed bingo and Lila growing up. For that to happen, they needed to be in the same town. So that was proof they wouldn't move.

What Calypso said really stuck with me, because that is EXACTLY why I watch certain shows. Life is unpredictable, it has sad endings, and it can be extremely stressful. We NEED the happy endings in fiction to help us remember that good things CAN happen, and the world is not as dark as it seems. A common saying is that only two things are certain in life, death and taxes. To me, this episode's ending is the perfect remedy for that. So many things seem to be going wrong in the modern world, but shows like Bluey help us temporarily forget that, and have some moments of peace mixed in with the chaos.

@bl3343 then explain to me why else would people be hating on a kids show. I agree, it's getting toxic. I echo that we should be happy for the characters instead of hating the episode. Also, I never called them "bad" The fact that you realized that the characteristics that I listed out, are bad, means, as a matter a fact, they're not good ppl either. Why would any sane ppl would hate a wholesome cartoon dog show? You know which other gang of people hates this episode? H0m0ph0b3 that aren't happy that a pair of lesbian moms were mentioned. @@YuanCrossXIII Sorry. I thought your original comment "I suffered so my children have to" parents was referring to the criticism some people have that the Heeler family didn't move as that was the focus of this video that Margie did. If you were referring to conservatives like Matt Walsh that are specifically upset about the LGBT+ representation, then I'm sorry I misunderstood you. I actually agree with you on that part. It's terrible some people think like that. This video was focused on the move, not why people didn't like more representation in Bluey. I'm glad there seems to be more representation in Bluey. As far as those who didn't like the ending (like myself), having criticism doesn't mean you "hate" the show. That would be like saying because I prefer ice cream to cake, I must "hate" cake. I still love the show, I'm just concerned that kids watching The Sign will think that their problems can be "wished" away because that's what worked for Bluey and Chili. If the creator of Bluey plans on focusing a future Bluey story on coping with change like the podcast Margie mentioned suggests, then that's good enough for me. I've also softened a bit on the ending as I've been able to see how it ties into the episode "Surprise" which I really liked.

I feel like people are forgetting that the Heelers' decision not to move means that Bandit most likely doesn't have a job anymore at the end of the episode. The whole point of them moving in the first place was that Bandit was getting a new job in a different city, and they decided not to move at the last minute, meaning Bandit probably doesn't have a job anymore. Also, it's confirmed that Chilli lost a pregnancy before having Bluey and Bingo so it's likely that Chilli has fertility issues too, not just Brandy. They could have inherited low fertility from their mother since sometimes it can be genetic. It's not unrealistic for some families to decide not to move and for some people who struggle with infertility to have a child, even children of their own. Just because you tell a story one way doesn't immediately mean your intention was to invalidate people whose experiences don't align with your story.

As someone with experience in animation I already knew that they wouldn't move at the end tbh. If they moved, they would have to design and animate assets for the new house, design and animate assets for the new neighborhood, write, design, and animate dozens of unique characters for the new neighbors and Bluey and Bingo's new friends... it's just not a reasonable thing to ask for the art & writing teams to take on. Not to mention the whole Bluey's World theme park thing lol. The only way I could see the move working is if it was the last episode of the series (and I know that Season 4 hasn't been greenlit yet and it's up in the air if it'll ever be, but that wasn't really common knowledge before the episode came out. If the Heelers were really moving, I feel like the creators would've been more upfront about it being a finale).

Exactly dude. I had leaked for myself that they weren’t gonna move but even if it wasn’t for that I’d still know they wouldn’t move cuz they do this in shows ALL THE TIME. It just doesn’t feel right especially in a cartoon for them to move and start over somewhere else. Especially with how perfect their lives are already here. I love how Brumm talked about the house being a character itself that he can’t write off and I couldn’t agree more with him.

I think some parents forget this is a cartoon and not a co-parent. Yes, I get that with the families who were moving are now having to explain how their situation is different. But that's part of parenting. Having to explain those difficult topics, and not falling back on cartoons to do it for you. Social media is not your co-parent. It is not there to do the raising for you. It is not meant to do the heavy work for you. It's there to entertain and convey stories that sometimes have messages that can *help* with parenting. Key word: help.

I feel like they reasonably did the best that they could in that situation. It's still an animated show. There's really no way they could actually scrap the house models and start over. However, they still covered dealing with change as bluey had to cope with it enough to comfort bingo at the end, and they found a way to make staying in the house and best logical choice that fit with the overall theme

I genuinely feel people are projecting too much of themselves and their lives onto the show and characters; yes it is great that the show has tackled serious topics in a manner that made us feel validated in our different journeys, but we sometimes have to remember that these shows and movies are fictional and that the creators can alter their stories and characters to what they need. Plus...am I the ONLY one that feels it's kinda weird and disturbing how people don't want the characters to have a happy ending or get what they pursued just because they want to be validated? It just feels so against what Bluey is all about; just because life has downs it doesn't mean ALL of it has to be about downs for everyone. And, I guarantee you that has they stuck with the original ending some would have been angry and said that the show was jumped the shark or that selling the house was betraying the iconography of the show. Fans are never happy in fandoms because they want things done THEIR way regardless if it makes sense or not to the narrative.

The build-up of them moving was against the thematic backdrop of "well, let's see" and the many uncertainties of choosing a seemingly riskier path in life. It provided a happy ending with uncertain implications, although we know in Surprise that they lived comfortably in that house.

When did we decide that “realistic” means “unhappy”? Happy things happen sometimes in real life. My parents have stayed happily married. I’ve never had to experience the death of a pet or say goodbye to a friend because of moving. Just because EVERYTHING that happens in real life isn’t happy doesn’t mean NOTHING is. I think C. S. Lewis said something like this, and I’m paraphrasing: The point of fairy tales isn’t to teach children that dragons exist. They already know dragons exist. The point of fairy tales is to teach children that dragons can be killed. In other words, whole evil is real, it is NOT all-powerful and infinite-good CAN triumph over evil. If an unhappy ending is “realistic” and a happy ending is “unrealistic”…then why are the “realistic” endings depressing and the “unrealistic” endings happy? What world were we made for if we can judge this world as unsatisfactory? I feel badly for people who feel that way, because I think they may be afraid to get their hopes up, lest it hurt more if they’re disappointed. I can’t pretend that I don’t understand or sympathize with these feelings (I’ve certainly felt that way a lot!), but feelings are subjective and don’t determine objective reality. Two people can have opposite feelings about the same thing and neither one of them has to be “wrong”. That’s why I don’t want to say anyone is “wrong” for disliking the ending of “The Sign,” any more than I want to be told I’m “wrong” because I don’t dislike it. As to this particular episode, while I think it could have been written a bit better (like having more of the situation with Winton and the Terriers and their parents (and their houses), two things: 1) this is an episode of a TV show, not a self-contained “movie”, and you do get some of this in the episodes “Helicopter” and “TV Shop”; 2) It’s still a good episode where the happy ending is clearly earned, and NOT a “deus ex machina” copout. I’ve seen examples where this wasn’t handled well, and I don’t think this is one of them. Honestly, I think hating this episode’s ending is like hating the fact that Buttercup marrying Prince Humperdinck in The Princess Bride was just a nightmare, or hating Miracle Max and Valerie and their miracle pill reviving Westley as a “deus ex machina” copout. I think this is clearer in the novel The Princess Bride than the movie, but the point is that, while those unhappy endings didn’t end up happening-they COULD have. And no amount of nightmares or miracle pills are going to change that. That’s why happy endings feel good when they’re earned-because it seemed so impossible that there could be a happy ending, like when Frodo claimed the One Ring for himself and then Gollum took it back, not as a heroic sacrifice for Frodo’s sake, but solely to have his “Precious” back. Yes, Bluey and her family don’t end up moving at the end-but they COULD have! Yes, Frisky ended up coming back and marrying Uncle Rad-but she MIGHT not have! No amount of happy endings will change that-and that’s realistic. My biggest disappointment with “The Sign” is that we didn’t see more of Uncle Rad in it than we did-but that’s not an objective criticism, that’s just my personal feelings about it. I’d been hoping to see more of him since August, when I was introduced to Bluey, and while I got more, it wasn’t as much more as I was hoping. But would it have been possible to tell the story properly if Uncle Rad had been in it more? Or would it have improved the story if that had been done? That’s the real question, no matter how much I like Uncle Rad and how much more I’d hoped to see of him in the future. And that’s the whole lesson this episode is trying to teach: “everything working out the way it’s supposed to in the end” doesn’t mean you get your way all the time. The episode ending the way it’s supposed to doesn’t mean that people who want Bluey and her family to move to a new locale will see that happen-nor does it mean that people who want them to stay will see that happen. It means “We’ll see.” There will still be conflict in the future, including conflict that couldn’t have arisen if they had gone through with the move. The end of “The Sign” doesn’t mean 100% happiness forever-THAT would be unrealistic. Most obviously, Winton’s parents don’t get back together, plus Winton and his dad DO end up having to move. I don’t call that a happy ending for Winton-at least, not an unqualified one. But again, if that hadn’t happened, then Winton would have remained an only child. Now he gets three stepbrothers. And presumably the Terriers still live in the same neighborhood as Winton, otherwise why do they go to the same school? So presumably Winton didn’t have to move out of the city, and he can still go to the same school-that wouldn’t have been the case for Bluey if she had moved. Please excuse my rambling. I still need to learn how to be concise.

Thank you so much for showing grace to those of us who didn't like the ending. Most of this comments section seems to boil down to "if you didn't like the ending, you're just a jerk!" or "you just want Bluey to do your parenting for you!". Reasons to like or dislike the ending are much more complicated than that, and I don't think either side is showing enough respect for the other. I thought Bluey fans were supposed to be chill.😊

it would be interesting for there to be an episode featuring a different family moving in/out of the heeler neighborhood and how impactful moving is to children. I think a three-kid family would be a great model for this idea- The oldest having "gotten used" to constantly moving and potentially having a cynical mindset when coming to the new neighborhood, the middle pup being more experianced with moving but still optimistic though prone to their older sibling's cynicism, and the youngest being new to moving and this being their first move.

i feel like another more important thing to take from The Sign is that, Bandits only reason for moving is to take a new job, so they can make more money "to have a better life" but in Brisbane they have a strong supportive community of friends and neighbors and thats something money simply cant replace. what better life could they possibly ask for? while its always preferable to have more money, thats not the most important thing in life. i feel like thats the biggest thing i took away from the episode anyway

1: reality also has happy endings like people who can actually change their minds about moving to a new place because someone else changed their minds because they saw a better house they wanted (watch Max Keeble's Big Move) 2: Brandy was fertile this whole time and people didn’t notice it at the very beginning of her debut episode where she showed up without not only kids but also without a husband and without a vehicle 3: weddings can be saved and the bride and groom can makeup for their argument and marriages as well when someone helps get the two spouses (husband and wife) back together (watch Yours Mine and Ours) I’d love to see Joe explain that

Personally, from the moment I found out about the Heeler house being for sale, I didn't believe for a second they were going to actually move. Other shows do that kind of stuff all the time, like in The Simpsons for example, there are so many episodes where the family moves or Bart or Lisa start going to a different school or Homer gets fired from the power plant or whatever, and by the end of the episode something will happen that takes everything back to status quo. I was surprised to see so many people not considering that as the most likely thing to happen. And sure, Bluey tends to be more realistic, but the family moving would've been too drastic of a change in my opinion. Not just because of the house being so iconic, but because of all the many side characters that would've been left behind.
@bl3343
@bl3343 24 күн бұрын
I was kinda hoping they'd move, but it would just be for a couple of years (because of Bandit's job) and then come back. This would have allowed the episode to show kids that moving can be okay, without undoing the work that the studio did on backgrounds because the time spent away could have been a Bluey movie, and season four could have been a time jump to address the age of the actors where the Heelers come "back home". It would have been a best of both worlds scenario, and we might not have to see the fans turn on each other like this.😢

@@bl3343 Honestly, I sometimes feel like parents rely too much on TV to teach their kids how to cope with things. My family moved to a new town when I was just about exactly Bluey's age, and it was hard, and I didn't want to do it at the time, but I obviously survived it and life went on and I was fine. It's really the parents' job to explain to their kids how *in real life* people move all the time and it's sad and scary but they have to do it anyway, and will eventually adjust. Maybe so many kids about to move away wouldn't have gotten their hopes up because of The Sign if the parents hadn't promised them (without themselves knowing the outcome) that their favorite fictional character would be mirroring their exact situation in the first place.

Dude exactly my thoughts. I actually leaked for myself they wouldn’t move but even if it wasn’t for that I’d still know because they do it in shows all the time where they intend to move but don’t. Brandi being pregnant is the one that gets me. Like them not moving in the end, that what I expected, the marriage working out I expected. We also have to consider what would become of the show if the Heelers really moved and the meaning of making Bluey's family move. Leaving aside that it was obvious that they wouldn't for various reasons (Change of the entire cast, ignoring the past easter egg about Bingo and Lila growing together, etc...) I can understand viewers wanting them to move, because they want to relate somehow to that feeling they may have faced in the past or are about the face. They want some kind of optimistic message about their upcoming change (even if the Sign is not about that) but at the same time, I think that this would only put two options for the ending and at the end, would make obvious which to pick. Option 1: The good move. Heelers move and they eventually get their happy ending anyway. The move was a good choice, the kids make new friends, sometime visit their relatives and they have a better house and more money. Their choice was the best one. This feels like the ending most people who desired the move to happen wanted. A good ending, just different than what we got, but also one that is told many times in many cartoons where moving works out. There's a lot of shows where children must move away and eventually they fit well in the place they move into. Option 2: The bad move. Heelers move out and they don't get a happy ending. Their choice was a bad one. Bluey and Bingo don't make easily new friends, everyone miss their friends and family and struggle with the lack of relatives helping out with babysitting. The kids grow up far from their cousins, they get homesick and Chilli and Bandit don't feel like they fit with their new jobs and lives... They don't feel fullfilled even if they get more money. Or even... maybe they eventually struggle instead more with money than they did before and their lives get significantly worse. A bad ending, that usually we don't see in stories where characters move away, or at least it gets fixed somehow. It's clear that between the two, while Bluey teaches a lot of important lessons sometimes sad, it wouldn't give a bad ending. The sad ending wouldn't fit, wouldn't be optimistic enough for the kids, so they would have to go for a route that is much more cliché, and sometimes less realistic. While it's not imperative and change can be good, it CAN be bad and one thing is saying it can be but always showing eventually it's not, and another it's really showing it. For personal experience, moving doesn't always do good, and while I totally understand people want the positive message, forcing an happy ending wouldn't feel satisfying either for me. Making the Heelers move, to me, would possibly feel as forced as them not moving, because the ending would be good either way and it wouldn't be possible to show really that "life has enough sad endings". That would not show reality, which is what a lot of people instead claimed to want. I think that many just wanted their reality to feel happier through the show. With this I don't mean to say people are wrong to dislike this episode or the ending. it's totally fair to feel those things. But I also think this episode while very misinterpreted on its intentions. It's not about change, it's about choice. I agree with Joe Brumm on this. I also like the idea of an ending where eventually the "less" wins. Where characters don't have to move like most of us had to. Where characters have a choice, unlike we did, or we thought we did. Stuff feels catarthic in very different ways, for different reasons. Sometimes it does for some people but it doesn't for others. Literally, you couldn't make everyone happy with this episode, because people would wish for their own relatable ending. It works also for Brandy's pregnancy. Some people will prefer seeing her pregnant cause they felt happy with her overcoming her struggles and eventually fulfilling her dream, also representing those girls who managed like her, or those who are still trying. Some others, will want adoption representation, and a message about finding other ways in life to be happy. Both are good and realistic choices, sometimes it's just not what happened to everyone.

It feels like she's talking to us the audience, and reminds me of when Cocos mom did the same thing and said "you're doing great" to Chilli. As someone who had a good move at 6 years old and a traumatic one as a teenager, I loved the ending of this episode. I felt like it healed a bit of the trauma from that bad move, being forced to leave what had been my home for a decade. What Bluey showed was what I WISHED had happened to me with that house, and it made me happy that Bluey and bingo DIDN’T have to go through that trauma. Moving from one neighborhood to another in the same city isn’t so bad, but moving to a new city away from friends and family is so hard. I know that’s why some people wanted the move to happen, so Bluey could teach their kids how to react to moving, but that wasn’t the point of the story. The point was that “everything will work out the way it’s supposed to”. That no matter how hard things are or how much they change, things will be alright in the end. For the heelers, that meant staying in their house. For others it’s acclimating to their new home and making new friends. That things will always get better, even if it takes awhile. And that’s a much better lesson than “bad things happen and you just have to suck it up.” Which is the direction most episodes like this go with and that doesn’t actually help the kids watching it. In my experience anyways

And she explains that since bad things happen in real life, that's why people tell stories with happy endings, to help us feel better. It's an absolutely beautiful form of storytelling, and it gives parents a chance to have that teaching moment with their children as well 💜💙💚 Edit: I typed that before I watched, sorry I basically reiterated your points lol my bad 😅 Love you Aussie mom from a Tennessee mom 💜💙💚

I thought the ending was perfect; it has me in tears EVERY time. It portrays exactly how bandit would do anything for his family no matter how big a risk it can be, and overall shows that the house plays a big role towards the show. Not to mention the practical entire point of the sign was to imply what calypso stated: that life gives us enough sad endings, so stories offer us happy one’s majority of the time. It honestly surprises me seeing people hate this episode, because I think it was absolutely MAGICAL. The Sign came at a perfect time for me and my husband because we were in the middle of house hunting. The first one we fell in love with wound up needing a major repair which, to everyone's shock, the seller refused to contribute anything towards. We backed out during escrow because of it. But now we closed on something even better, and even that had some stressful ups and downs. We hired movers but the loan company wanted more signatures when we thought we were done, and then someone dragged their heels sending documents to the title company, etc. We ended up waiting with the movers and our realtor in the driveway for the final OKs and for the seller's realtor to bring us the keys. We both felt the ending was somewhat realistic because of our experience with the first house. And the "We'll see" lesson helped me, someone with diagnosed anxiety, stay much calmer during the final shenanigans.

At least the ending was built up, and didn't come "out of the blue". It showed the sheep dogs finding another house (because of the coin that was left in the telescope earlier), which led up to them changing their minds. It still kept in theme with the episode, which is about uncertainty: Life does come with bad things/endings, but good things/endings DO happen as well (even when you least expect it), hence the term, "we'll see". I'd argue that Bandit still could've sold the house even with the sheep dogs changing their minds, but it's because of his family's reluctance (and his growing inner doubts) that he decided to do the right thing, and pull the sign out of the ground. I think it shows how the decisions we make can affect the people around us (whether for good or bad). To quote Gertrude Stein from _Midnight in Paris_ : *"We all fear death and question our place in the Universe. The artist's job is not to succumb to despair, but to find an antidote for the emptiness of existence."* Art is meant to not only reflect our anxieties and situations (and learn how to deal with them in a substantial way), but also to find a reason to live and be hopeful. That's what I think anyway.

Why do so many people need moving episodes to always be shown as positive? "It's a big adventure!", "Change is natural", "Change is good" No. No moving SUCKS most of the time let's be honest. It's no "big fun adventure". It's stress through and through especially when you do that a lot. What is good about uprooting your child specifically every few month? Forcing them to leave yet another social circle behind. Getting used to again just to be ripped away from it again? Especially here it is shown that both Bluey and Bingo would leave a very close and dear to them social circle behind. Chilli was sad the whole episode being faced with the fact she has to leave her home behind. Heck even Bandit only did it because he kept saying this will get more money in and not because he wanted to. That was his only reasoning why he wanted to move. Why go through with that move when literally EVERYONE was sad and miserable even before moving? Sometimes you just nope out last minute. That is just as realistic as going through with that move. Why do cartoons for kids always need a lesson? Why can't they just be happy fairytales? I know change is "natural" and all that yada yada yada but change isn't always good for everyone. Bluey would've suffered so much from moving away from her friends just as Bingo. Moving and change can also have the opposite effect and be a negative thing and have negative effects. Sometimes you need just a constant thing in your life, a thing that doesn't change and Bluey is that. There are enough children media things out in the world about change being good and change being this happy positive thing. Let this one thing be an example that just like everything else, change can have both. A good and a bad side, positive and negative aspects and sometimes you just don't need change. Why can't one be contempt and happy with what they have? Why does everything always have to be about change and wanting to change things and what not.

Everything that happened in this episode definitely played out realistically. There’s no point in change if it’s really not necessary or forced. To those who are upset by this episode, they’re the ones that were forced to move and are jealous about the Heelers staying. So they project themselves on these characters and get so upset when it all of a sudden doesn’t relate to them anymore. The Heelers’ lives are already perfect the way it is and it’s not worth losing for the sake of more money and having a “better life.”

I actually LOVED that the heelers DIDN'T move away[Because of more Meta Reasons; due to moving away from all the characters we know & love; and Because of the $18,000,000 Ludo Studios spent to make a PERMANENT Blueyland Attraction based off the Iconic Heeler House] MY Biggest Gripe of the episode's ending; WAS BRANDY'S PREGNANCY [Since It COMPLETELY Invalidates the Message of Onesies; that You can't always have what you want; and there's nothing you can really do about it; and It ALSO Broke the Hearts of Infertile Women That USED to relate to her; Infertile women who NEVER were able to have kids of their own but wanted to; and NOW THEY'RE P***ED OFF THAT A CARTOON DOG GETS TO HAVE WHAT THEY NEVER WILL; AND AS SUCH; BRANDY CATTLE BECAME A LOT LESS RELATABLE TO THEM DUE TO HER BEING ALLOWED TO HAVE WHAT THEY CANNOT HAVE FOR THEMSELVES IRL]

While watching the episode, i thought they were gonna compromise by having Rad and Frisky buy it from Bandit (keeping it in the family) and making it possible for everyone to continue to visit and see. From a stand point as Bluey as a brand, it makes sense they wouldn't actually move, since the house is a big part of the merchandize lol

I personally really liked the episode but I do think that it could have been handled a little bit differently maybe to get the point across a little more concretely, but I don't think it needs any huge changes. I think saying it was a cop out is unfair, especially given everything the episode handled and how. I think that the buyers deciding on a different place because of the coin Bluey found was beautiful, I loved the back and forth of the luck, even with the search for Frisky, and how Bluey and Bingo learned how to take everything life throws at them in stride, rather than dwelling on if it will be good or bad. I loved her teaching Bingo the story of the farmer. I loved how resigned Chilli was because she couldn't do much else and how happy everyone was to stay. It was bittersweet and then we found the sweet center. And I agree that the house feels like a character! We all would have bee sad to see it go!

(Incoming long comment!) I should mention that I LOVED The Sign and the way Joe Brumm handled the idea of happy endings in a cartoon. And the way he executed the happy endings, made me feel so genuinely happy for the characters who got their endings. It's a chef's kiss of an episode. With that in mind, the part of happy endings being in fiction since reality tends to give us more sad endings, I don't completely agree with his idea. I'm not hostile to the idea at all since people are comforted by happy endings, which gives them a hope that maybe their ending will turn out happy or even just comforting to see a character not suffering like us. Even I like happy endings, so I will still allow and even encourage happy endings to play their part. But in my personal opinion, I find a character losing something and having a sad ending is ironically comforting to me. Not in the sense that a character is sad about the loss, but in the sense that I am not alone and that I don't have to feel alone in a sad ending. Maybe the character lost something major, and needs to cope with that loss which might give me the inspiration to do the same thing as they did. Or maybe losing minor things that still meant a lot to them, but knows the ending they did get turned out for the better; not that the losses were good but the way it is dealt with is what encourages me to keep going. SPOILER ALERT FOR MONSTERS UNIVERSITY: Monsters University is the best example of this, Mike Wazowski is so obsessed with becoming a Great Scarer that he doesn't consider other options due to him not being able to scare anyone at all. And when the climax forces him to come to that realization, he does have a very sad scene of him realizing his dreams and future are crushed of becoming a scarer. But he realizes with Sulleys help that he doesn't have to only focus on being a Scary Monster and Sulley realizes his need of Mike's coaching, that the two can work together to become a fiercesome team. And Mike realizes his new option of being a Scare Trainer, working at the Scare Factory despite not being one. That's the kind of stories I like, whether more grim or even lead to a happy ending :)

I totally agree with your statement. If it was real I would have liked to see them move. I remember when I was eight and we moved across the country to a new big city. It was so much to process as a kid and I always thought I would move back when I was an adult. Now I turn eighteen next month and Bluey for me is such a comfort show! Therefore I loved that she got to stay. She fulfilled the childhood dream I always had. At the same time reality can also give you luck in all the unlucky. I’ve grown in this city and it is where I have all my friends. I don’t think I will move back because I got a good life here. Although, my parents couldn’t have known that, they could just hope things would turn out great. So when I move out in a year on my own adventure I too get to say “we’ll see”

House sales fall through all the time! That is reality…and the Heelers would make out well with escrow falling through…which also happens in real life. As we watched the episode my husband commented how they were going to make a ton of money from the sale falling through. We also talked about how much better of a life could Bandit possibly provide when they have such a beautiful home, so many wonderful friends and they send their children to the best school in Brisbane? When I saw that “The Sign” was a for sale sign my heart sunk because I accidentally skipped ghost baskets. I needed that happy ending!!

I loved The Sign, I cried a lot. The episode really helped me with the "We'll see" moral. Calypso saying life gives us enough sad endings and the story (which I've heard before) was where I started crying and I basically cried the rest of the episode lol. I moved a lot growing up, so I was interested to see the move, so seeing them stay and have a life where they grew up with the same people in the same home, broke me in the best way. The part I wasn't a fan of was Brandy being pregnant. I've seen enough people who liked it and said it gave them hope in their own situation, so I'm not mad, I just wish she adopted or something instead. Like she walks up to Chilli with a baby carriage or she hugs her and we see a baby learning to walk (like in Baby Race) and she picks them up and Chilli greets them. It doesn't have to be another Heeler, or it could look a little like Brandy and like someone else (like Bluey's kid) Overall, Bluey's a kid's show (yeah, everyone can enjoy it, but the target audience is kids) so giving them all happy endings doesn't really upset me. If this was, say, BoJack Horseman, I would scream cop-out.

I honestly loved the ending for The Sign. It was a beautiful fairy tale ending that made me feel happy and relieved. Even though I knew they weren't going to sell their house, it was still very beautiful to see the resolution working out in favor of the Heelers. I had just lost my dog a couple weeks prior to the episode and it was the happy ending I needed in that moment. Bluey is where I go for happy endings because sometimes you just need a few to make it to the next day in scary and uncertain times.

Something I studied in Media Studies, The Uses and Gratification Theory, actually applies very well to this episode and my feelings towardes it. As a child that moved in and out of houses a lot, "The Sign", to me, is escapisim. The ending is so emotionally impactful BECAUSE its more storybook then reality, BECAUSE I can escape from the latter and imagine, just for as long as the episode lasts, that this is MY reality. I can understand the criticisim the episode is getting but like Brumm said, the Heelers will always be in that house, and no matter whats happening in the reality of the viewer, there will always be a sense of comfort in knowing that Bluey is consistent. It is the unlikely, fairytale, and happy ending of "The Sign" that enables those who have experienced moving to escape from the experience. P.S love the episode wholeheartedly, cried at the end. P.S love your videos!

As someone who's moved alot as a kid & teenager, where my parents helped me & my siblings to see it as a "Big Adventure," I see why some could be unsettled with the ending. However, I love the ending of The Sign because it is the exact opposite of my experience. There's a certain house that me, my first sister, and my parents will always call "Our House" despite moving out of it a decade plus ago. It so beloved to us. I don't regret moving out the country (USA), and back, then out of state (Michigan) and back, but if you gave me a chance, I'd buy it back myself or never have left that house in the first place. Bluey has the stability I barely had. I, personally, would rather have Bluey's fairy-tale ending than (extreme example) Peter Parker's nonstop life of depression and struggle.

I totally loved "The Sign". And I totally agree with Calypso. Life already has too many sad endings. What's wrong in having a little bit of fairytale-like happy ending? After all, in the end, "Bluey" is still just a kid show. In the past, fairytales were meant to teach life lessons. Nowadays, they serve to give hope of a happy ending, that things will work out in the end, because that's what is needed. And Brumm is right, "Bluey" wouldn't be the same if the Heelers actually moved. Their house kind of became our house as well, our source of comfort.

The ending of The Sign was one of the most tear-jerkingly relieving moments in the series! Who the heck is out here badmouthing it?! I've had to move 6 times and it is miserable. The whole time watching this episode I was angry at bandit who couldn't think past having more money. That he was ignoring that his kids already had such an amazing life where they are now. That his act of trying to make things better was the only single disaster that could happen to them. So that ending was so damn nice!!! I FELT that sign pulling. Some change cannot be avoided, quite a few shows tackle that subject. But this is one that COULD be avoided, and NO shows ever tackle this! This was the episode no parent has ever gotten to enjoy until Bluey made it. Just stop and listen to your family, what do they actually want? Life does not need to be about sacrifices... Damnit I had forgotten one of my moves was actually because of my dad and his new job. It destroyed all our lives for his benefit. I didn't even remember that was the reason for that one. But maybe I was thinking about it in a way during this episode.

I liked the happy ending. Because it's not reality, it's a story. And you do have to have that conversation with your kids at some point right. like santa.... Every ep doesn't need a lesson or a moral either. Is this where "go touch some grass' can be used? Can parents teach lessons to their kids in real life and not expect TV to do it? Sometimes you just can't have what you want. You can't show all the reality of moving either. like losing contact with all your friends. Or moving to a place where there are few kids.

I didn't think that so many people would get angry at the special's ending. While yes, It would've been nice for the Heelers to move to another house but I highly disagree with all these haters! It would've been too much for a show like this. The Heeler house is what Bluey is to some people. It's irreplaceable in my opinion. Not to mention, we had to move houses this year on February and I do miss our old home a lot. This episode really hit me on an intense emotional level. Great job covering this topic, Margie! Well done!

One of the biggest things I dealt with when I was younger was constantly moving due to multiple problems far beyond my control as a child causing instability. It was miserable and on most occasions I lost everything I had unless it was physically in a backpack I didn't let go of. I can see why the episode ticked people off but to me it was wonderful. I hated the idea that they'd have to leave. A home isn't just a place you go to. Some times it's the only stable thing in your life. It's something I never got to feel safe in when I was younger, even where I am now being stable I never feel safe. I always have a nagging feeling everything will fall apart for some reason. Seeing someone else avoid even a sliver of that is fantastic and I'm glad the episode ended how it did.

What are your theories for Bluey's World? I'm wondering if it might be like Shrek's Adventure London, which is an actor-lead experience through some scenes. What I'm curious about is how we'd enter the Blueyverse. With Shrek's Adventure, it was via Dreamworks Tours and a "magic buss" ride which is a 4d thing and you crash land into Shrek's swamp and go from there.

I think it lined up neatly with what Calypso said about stories needing happy endings, because life gives us enough sad ones. Bluey is a story, and while it may not mirror the experiences of real children moving, it shows how even bad things can turn on a dime, and to keep yourself hopeful and positive. Poignant and sweet, which is very much in Bluey's wheelhouse. People forget that this show is meant to appeal to the idealistic imaginations of children, even though it has complex themes. I myself thought the episode was unusually serious until the happy ending.
