You've reviewed better spec cameras before but your photos with this Galaxy camera are the best I've seen in your reviews so far.

I have this camera, the battery is not an issue. I carry a rechargeable battery that connects to the camera via USB, but I hardly use it. The camera is awesome, the only problem I have with it is that if you want to use this camera manually, it is a bit difficult. One great option is that you can control this camera remotely from your tablet. You can also transfer pictures and video from the camera to your tablet via WIFI (no wires). It also has voice recognition for a lot of camera functions.

Why I trust your reviews is because of this. You gave the pros and cons normally as you do, despite your relationship with Samsung (past videos). I agree. Basing on your review, this camera is not ready to replace my phone nor my camera. For people who don't have any of the two, this is a good toy.

For the same reason cars are rated in "miles per gallon", KM's/Litre etc instead of "piston firings per litre". To make a comparative measurement that is relevant to real-world use.

I rarely take photos...especially lately. But I like gadgets and your presentation style is pleasing/interesting to view. Also, maybe I will learn enough to know how to actually work a proper camera if I ever wanted to.

It seems that they are going that way, these are good times, thanks for pointing that to me. Lets hope that they come with a game changer product, a mix of Android and good camera with interchangeable lens and apps that allow us to control it via wireless (or similar) with a phone/tablet.

Looks like Samsung has addressed most of the issues of this camera/mobile device with the new Galaxy Camera 2 GC200. The battery is larger at 2000mAh and the camera software has been improved with new features such as those found on other Galaxy devices such as the S4. The GC2 runs Android 4.3 and has a 1.6 quad core processor and 2 GB of ram instead of the 1 GB on the GC1. It's also smaller and lighter and looks a lot better.

Good review Nate. Agree with you that leverage of cloud storage and services and compact cameras (not those we carry with us on our phones) is the direction of the near term and as an experiment this is very interesting. A shame though that large corporations want individuals to pay for their R&D in this way. The Galaxy brand is a strong one, as denoted by sales of the SGS2 and 3 and this device is so limited that releasing it, as is, seems very poorly thoughtout. Cheers

great for newbie photographer who don't have any android device, you can shot, edit and share in one device. But professional might won't use it due lack of quality compared to compact camera in same price range.

How do you feel about a camera being bolted on to a OS that will be dated in a years time Blunty? Personally I think it will be almost throw away each year providing they release a new cam each year. Software needs to implement the camera more

OS is firmware upgradable.... I don't see android changing by much in a year or 2. This camera's OS will still be operational.. up until maybe they release Android 5.0. It's quad core processor, can still handle that though.

It's a shame that the marriage between ease-of-use cameras and Android is so awkward at the moment. It sounds like a match made in heaven, but with these sort of battery limitations and the surprising fact that some apps struggle to even edit your snaps, I suppose I'll be sitting it out for now.

*sigh* He stated in a previous video, and in at least one comment on this video. He *didn't* buy it, he won it in a contest that was run by a third party (i.e., it wasn't run by Samsung). And in that infamous video where he talked about how Samsung was blacklisting him, he specifically said that he *would* still review Samsung products if he could get them through some other means.

Hey Blunty - I'm using this camera for short videos for my work. I need an app that will allow me to put a "title card" at the end during editing phase. Any ideas? I can't find that option in Video Editor or Andro Vid Pro - the ones I use to compile/edit/convert to that formats I need.

The longer I own my one, the more I hate it. I'm an Apple fan but due to there not being an Apple camera, I thought I'd give it a go. The Kies software for getting the photos off the camera is terrible, slow and rarely works. The battery is terrible, made worse by the Android software soaking up unnecessary power running unnecessary tasks. The wifi transfer has never worked, it won't even find my wifi which is why I had to use EyeFi instead. The camera takes 15 seconds to boot up and even with power saving turned off, it still shuts off each time instead of going into stand by. The focusing is hit and miss and the flash is too bright for close shots. Processing shots is slow and even in slightly low light it unnecessarily opens the aperture for too long giving you a blurred photo. Overall, the hardware is good but it is let down with the "jack of all trades" Android software which is laggy, badly thought out, terribly designed, counterintuitive, power hungry and is the bottleneck for the hardware. I'll read the reviews of the GC200 but I suspect I'll shy away from an Android phone to something running software specifically designed for a camera.
