As a pc gamer, not being wired was actually a selling point for me. No pairing or charging, no batteries to degrade over time and charge cycles. I also checked all of the usb c cables i had at home and only 1 didn't fit as a replacement. feels great in the hands, software is pretty good, genuinely impressed with this controller.

I thought the same thing. Every once in a while you gotta deal with the wireless controller not pairing property, or just not showing up as a bluteooth device and you gotta update drivers and stuff. My PS4 controller was sort of a nightmare sometimes. Sometimes it worked great, others it would take forever to pair. When I saw this controller and being corded, I was thinking it is honestly a little bit of a plus for PC gamers.

Out of 3 controllers in my house, 2 of them got destroyed by me because i dropped them once, tried to open them and fix them but it was useless. The one remaining goes crazy when i connect it to pc because of some firmware bugs and unluckily im the only one that ever reported this case. All these are made for multi platform gaming. The first one goes around your phone like the switch, second and third have a little arm that can be opened from the middle. Really cheap quality ngl

I've always thought this is a terrible argument. There are many arguments against wireless controllers, but this is such a terrible one. They hold a charge from full for tens of hours. It's 1% effort to place your controller on a charging dock when you're done. Also, you can take any wireless controller that you've added/has a rechargeable battery and just always keep it plugged in while you use it. Same thing, from a not charging perspective. Do you also own a corded power drill for the freedom from having to charge batteries? I guarantee that you own a set of wireless headphones for your phone. In both the above examples it is about the convenience. Being tied to a wire might work for your desktop setup, but only in that setup. I game on the couch with my micro-atx tiny PC bracketed on the wall. Using a corded controller is not an option for couch playing. If I want to game in my room at my work desk setup or on my tablet I can launch Moonlight and with 3ms latency play my games with my wireless controller connected from a different room anywhere in the house. Wireless with the option of wired is peak controller.

There will never be a wireless version for Xbox. Microsoft doesn't want to share it's wireless system cause they say it's a security measure EDIT: I found that Xbox now probably will have one cause the first ever third party controller for Xbox is wireless and PowerA was the first so they definitely can be a wireless on now that Microsoft allows it

Xbox controllers actually have lower latency over wireless than wired now. its negligible but exists. Im almost certain these controllers are wired for 2 reasons.1. the price would probably double if it were wireless. 2. Microsoft wont want direct competition with their first party controllers.

It’s no doubt that wired reduces battery usage to 0, however there are rechargeable battery packs that last at least a full day in my experience and come in packs of two so you can very easily swap if you keep the backup charging. I’ve used the same set of rechargeables for 4 or 5 years now.

I am COMMPLETELY the opposite on your 2 sticking points. I EXCLUSIVELY use wired controllers, if I cant hardwire my connection then I'm not touching it. There is a noticeable latency difference, and no need to charge or worry about a bettery completely dying. As for the recessed port, yes I get how the tiny size locks you to their cables, however if either my controller or cable breaks I'm screwed anyway. Given a choice between which I'd rather have to replace I''ll chose the cable ANY DAY. The recess stops it being pulled out accidentally, but also acts as a protective measure for the USB port. I've been screaming about the OEM Xbox controllers not having a recessed port for years and I''m GLAD to have it here (though admittedly would be happier if the recess was larger to fit more cables. This is THE ULTIMATE controller for Xbox and will likely stay this way until Xbox Elite Controllers also get Hall effect sticks (with anti friction rings) and Raw stick input options.

What you said about the receptacle is exactly the same gripe I had with the Razer DeathAdder V2 Pro. It used micro USB, but the way the socket was designed meant it required a very specific cable to use it. So, if you forgot or lost it, you were completely screwed. Thankfully, third-party ones are sold on Amazon, but the process would be so much simpler and smoother if Razer just made it to the universal standard.

ive bought a lot of game controllers as well as Fight Stick HOTAS over the years and every single one eventually has so much stick drift that i cant just make the dead zone bigger to fix it and end up having to buy a new controller /HOTAS flight stick. maybe i just play my games way to much but to say that stick drift is not a big issue is kinda shocking to me i wonder why i would have such a different experience with game pads becoming unusable to stick drift compared to Blunty. another thing i find a bit funny is i only buy wired controllers, i guess ive just had one to many controllers go dead at the worst moment a few to many times to buy wireless game controllers anymore. other than those two things i find this review very well done and informative .

The blue shock had it in 3 months, warranty was gone so I went back to the white "fixed" controller, it had right drift in a couple months, warranty gone at this point. I buy a red 1 on Walmart with a 2 year warranty this time, it had left drift in a week. I sent it off today along with the white controller and a note saying "please fix me". I am not rough at all on my stuff. These companies need to be sued. Anyway I ordered this last night.

But wireless controllers turn off...you cant watch shows with headphones with them. Consoles do alot more the run games these days. We are well past that, as you put it.

Honestly drift isnt something i have had an issue with on first party xbox or playstation controllers. Now joycons.... I have replaced 8 of 10 joycon sticks and warranty replaced 4 more. The kids destroy those things

I don't exactly thing of the hall effect joysticks as something which is super important because i have a controller which is like 5 years old and has never gotten stick drift. So as long as you take good care of your controllers you probably wont get stick drift.

Currently using the victrix gambit prime which feels fairly cheap but i do enjoy it. Ordered this bad boy for the hall effect components and if it works just as good or better its back to the store for victrix.

I just ordered this controller to G7 SE in orange because it's my favorite color but you can use USBC cable connector if you want to use different cables but there are USB-C cables that are very slim right there you just have to do some searching

Can anyone who owns this controller tell me if the thumbsticks pop off and can be swapped out like on xbox controllers? I'm hoping to use one of my taller thumbsticks on it. A lot of controllers all accept the same stick caps.

I use my official Xbox controllers with the wire already so this along with the fact it's hall sense and comes with a month of Game Pass sounds like a deal for me.

Been gaming on Xbox since 2001 now own a XSX, XSS, PS5 and Switch OLED. Never once in my life have ever experienced stick drift. I didn’t know it was a thing until KZbin and Reddit. Own many controllers including two Xbox Series Elite 2 controller no issues at all

I had stick drift on multiple Xbox 360 controllers, but not any any other console's controller. Although for some of the most notorious offenders, like Switch Joycon and PS5 controllers, I would attribute that to how little I use the Joycon or the PS5. The only time I've used my Joycon was for Skyward Sword HD, and I've only played 4 games on my PS5. Also, I'm curious - why a Series X and a Series S?

Microsoft charges a hell of a lot of money in order to use their patented proprietary wireless technology that's why almost all 3rd party devices for Xbox are all wired. I was talking to tech support from another gaming device manufacturer who mainly deals with PC stuff about it and they told me if they wanted to make a headset for Xbox that was wireless they would have to charge almost an extra $100 per headset! So don't count on it lol unless you want to pay an extra $100 for exactly the same thing just for Microsoft to get their cut wired is better and faster anyway.

Ok, just a warning this controller is not for small hands, and it's super light to me. At least it's not comfortable to hold, and I don't have a good grip on it. This controller I will be using for other games that aren't shooters but for shooters it kinda sucks

Hopefully they sell compatible faces plates and cables eventually... my other cheap controller has the same issue with the USB c port..I literally shaved it with sand paper to get it fit lol
