That's just how bands work that have creative power. I love this track more than others too but to be fair, Darren is one of these albums that remind me of the past: I mean a time when it was normal that albums had only great songs on it. Blur seems to be a rare exceptional band that are able to keep doing that. Magic Whip is another example. I thought exactly the same while listening: "but...what?... EVEREY song is freakin great!" I guess, usually bands struggle to get a handful of great songs together. But fantastic bands like Blur throw out a session of maybe 20 songs and then may decide democratically which goes on the album. If more than 10 songs are great they have to compromise and quite often they make the wrong decision.

What is your interpretation of those words...
@vincenzostr4488 Жыл бұрын
@@daisychain9713 "The Rabbi" by Blur seems to be a song marked by confusion, disillusionment, and the search for salvation. The lyrics portray a sense of disorientation and a longing for something or someone to bring clarity and purpose. In the first verse, the narrator receives a confusing message, possibly representing a lack of guidance or direction in their life. The reference to "vague illusions" and "hieroglyphics and pictures" implies that the world around them is full of unclear messages and symbols, making it difficult to decipher meaning. The pre-chorus talks about the experience of driving blindly and feeling lonely, which could symbolize the feeling of being lost in life with no clear path ahead. The reference to the "loneliness of the long-distance driver" and the "broken-hearted" suggests a deeper emotional distress and longing for connection. The chorus expresses a sense of being lost and then being saved, emphasizing the search for salvation or redemption. The repeated line "I was lost, then you saved me" implies that the narrator has found someone or something that has brought them back from their state of confusion and aimlessness. In the second verse, the lyrics touch on the idea of the system grinding to a halt and the need to apologize to the streets and the rivers. This could be interpreted as a critique of societal structures and the degradation of certain values or principles. The 1980s reference and the mention of the port suggests a specific time and place where the decay of the system is apparent. Overall, "The Rabbi" conveys a theme of searching for guidance and hope amidst confusion and disillusionment. It speaks to the longing for someone or something to bring clarity, purpose, and salvation in a world full of vague illusions and broken systems.
