BM1397 Chip Tester reviewed plus BitaxeTS updates and a new ESP32S3 DMM prototype I'm working on

While looking for the original BM1397 Test socket to use with the BitaxeTS project I stumbled across a ASIC chip tester that will test BM1387, BM1396, BM1397, BM1398AD and BM1398BB chips.

@@iagmr Great... subscription. I'd just prefer the Bitaxe PCB with a socket. Does anyone make it? I wanted to log in to discord, but the platform is so ugly... I keep captcha and I can't log in, and when I once managed to do it, I can't search for chaos in the flood of messages and it's taking away my youth. During that time I will invent/make/fix something myself. Good luck to you!

​@@jirijezek8480 I feel your pain about Discord. It's worse than trying to figure out what's going on in my wife's head. But if you can get through the chaos there are usually some good nuggets in there. Keep in mind, there are at least 2 different sockets on Alliexpress for the 1397. They mount differently on the board. I thought I had it nailed so I designed new PCBs, sent the design off to PCBway or JLC (Can't remember which) and 3 or 4 weeks later what I got back was OFF by just enough that I couln't use them. I'm gettng a nice CNC soon which might allow me to actually test the gerber files before I send them out. If that works, I'll update the board design in my Github to allow the 2 different brands of sockets I have to mount directly on the PCB. If you are good with a cnc and/or kicad I could post the work I've done so far in my Github and let you test/try yourself.

@@iagmr Thanks. Yes women and their behavior is very close to that :D My T17 and woman is moody too. T17 hates the cold (my wife too). But I don't know which chip(s) are faulty or naughty. I bought 30 pcs used tested by that tester from Alli. But I don't want to replace each chip one by one. It's a terrible job. I can't login to discrod. Sometimes not even one "thing" has a good day -:)

Very nice setup on the bitaxe. I really do like how you can actually mine to the chip. What a cool feature. Actually can test it with the cgminer prior to soldering back into the machine. Make for a nice solo miner also between repairs. Looking forward to getting one of those for my own repairs as well as adding it to my cell repair business.

Thanks. When I disassembled the socket assembly, I realized they were just providing a mechanical interface to the standard BM1397 pads. When you purchase from companies like PCBWay they usually make 5 to 10 boards for you. This way, you could make one or two as tester units and build the others up as soldered Bitaxe miners. They only use about a little power so they cheap enough to run as lottery miners.

Thanks! I don't know of any distributor selling the Thailand Team Miner tester. I'm not even sure they are still being made. Lucky me 🤷‍♂🤷‍♂. If I were buying a new tester today, I'd buy the PicoBT tester if I was really on a tight budget and didn't want to get a simple test jig from Zeus Mining or the like. However, knowing what I know now, I'd buy the Stasic tester if I could possibly swing the money.

If press memo-button during 1 sec after start test, current of this chip well be as model, and next testing chip well be compare with first chip (+/- 10%). For selecting of chips with same current

Hello I’m trying to get in to mining repair. I bought equipment for the hash boards repair. I I’ve bought 1 T9 and 3 s9 ASICS miners broken from eBay. I’ve started of testing the machines while I’m waiting on all my equipment to come in. I found 3 hash boards light up red like the setup suggested. All other hash boards won’t light up. The T9 would start up then stop then start an repeat so I put that aside and focused more on the S9’s 1 the control board the middle bash board won’t light up and yet on the other 2 s9 the same hash boards do light up then the machine stops and the 2 lights in front 1 red 1 green don’t light up at all. I’ve googled for explanations an meanings to help explain so I can try to fix and or know where to start but all control board videos out there that pop up are mainly programming. I’ve tried googling miner repair courses an I’m getting no where’s, I’ve googled repair shops to get info of where to look for training an guidance but I get nothing. I’d put my email an number here but I don’t know if it’s just to you or everyone. Plus I hate to be disgruntled but I’ve hit so many roadblocks and no replies or responses….what’s one more
