I have studied both biblical Greek and Hebrew and read the Bible in those languages regularly and have found that I gain no secret or hidden, mystical meaning in the original text but I have found this: Reading a good English translation is like watching a movie in standard resolution, but then reading Greek New Testament or Hebrew Old Testament is like watching a movie in 4k. You see so many things a translation doesn’t show you!

Not only having a few scholarly believers in each church.... but having the other believers appreciate and support them! This is a big challenge in developing countries, like mine, where scholarship is seen as nerdy and unnecessary!

Thank you for the encouragement! I've improved my Biblical Greek when I enrolled for a year in BMA. One of the most precious experiences I have!

I joined the Greek Mastery Membership in July. I am in Stephen's Beginning Greek Cohort and I went though 1Timothy in the Greek workshop and started The Martyrdom of Polycarp with Stephen. I also purchased The Student Edition Vocabulary before joining GMM. Scott E. Stierle

Thanks Darling for your encouragement. I'm looking forward to reading through the NT when I finish beginning NT greek with you all. As I continue to teach Bible Studies at my church and our local Christian addition treatment center, I believe the original languages will greatly enhance my limited seminary training so I can share God's Word in a more meaningful way with them. The opportunity to teach about Jesus and His Word has richly blessed me. God bless you and your staff as they continue to bless us with your resources. Jimmie Blackwood.

Great topic, great video. Thank you for the inspiring words. Reminds me of one of my favorite books, "Love Your God with All You Mind" by JP Moreland. The church today seems so anti-intellectual as if using our God-given mind is somehow worldly.

Hello! Some people say in order to understand NT greek you have to understand the greek culture back then and the background/history of the new testament. Is this true? If yes, would you have any books to recommend to read about this subject?

Yes! I actually have a video with a couple of different options - including one for New Testament backgrounds. You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn2vdoKfhqeHmtk

As someone who got drawn towards this channel because I'm interested in the Bible, and biblical languages despite not being a Christian this kind of approach puts me in a slightly odd spot.

There are plenty of scholars who are not believers; you are far from unique. Yes, Christians and Jews have a devotional reason to study Tanakh/Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and Christians the New Testament, but others study these ancient and influential texts for their own sake, just as some do Old English or Norse or ...

The goal of this video and of what we do is to primarily encourage Christians in their walk with Christ, but that doesn't mean others can't learn. Nor do we discourage those who are not Christians from reading and studying scripture in the original languages. So, as @BiblicalStudiesandReviews said, Come on over! :)
