I like that they're changing their sound a bit. I loved LF/LT, AOGHAU and HH, those are the albums that got me into Architects and that turned them into one of my favourite bands. But I completely agree with the thoughts of closing a trilogy here and not putting out a fourth album with similar sounds. At some point, it would be too repetitive, I think. Animals, Black Lungs and the two Songs from the Royal Albert Hall Concert are still totally awesome, despite the change of sound.

I really think Architects going poppy could be an amazing thing, but they need to keep what makes them stand out if they decide to make that change. If they kept their crazy melodic guitars and catchy vocal hooks, it'd be great, but this just feels a bit generic all around. It just feels like the vocals and guitarwork could be from any other metalcore band, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'd just expect more from Architects. I think most people don't actually have an issue with bands becoming poppier, but rather them not making that change well. Architects definitely has the potential and musical capabilities to make that switch work, but this doesn't show it too much.

It's always interesting to see how bands evolve when they lose members. You can tell Tom was a huge part of their older sound, and this newer, Post-Tom sound is interesting and I dig it. I like to think of everything from a live show experience where there is a nice ebb and flow of older & newer material to give you an incredible live experience of a bands history, musically.

I actually see kinda positive when bands as smart as Architects change their style and turn into something experimental just because i know that they gonna get better at what they are trying (for example lets put BMTH they’ve been experimenting since Thats The Spirit and now they finally brought something VERY SOLID to the table) I saw the livestream on Royal Albert Hall and the two new singles they played were AMAZING so im not that worried about the album

Honestly I felt every word of your conclusion. I've been listening to Architects for roughly 8 years (discovered them right around Daybreaker), and I loved them ever since. They're the band I saw the most live, and enjoyed each one of them thoroughly. Yet with these new releases, I'm kinda lost. There are some good elements, that do remind me of the sound they got me used to, or at least the skill. But the overall experience is just weird... I was confused about how simple Animals is, and now I'm confused about how pop Black Lungs is. I'm afraid this is the album that makes me stop loving Architects... I'll still listen to it, and obviously listen to their old stuff on repeat 'cause they've done quite enough masterpieces to fill a playlist of their own, but I won't expect much from their next releases.

Just think about every singles Architects released before an album. They were all the most generic tracks of each album imo, one way or another. Animals, Black Lungs do sound generics. But seeing the album tracklist, we're gonna have big surprises, like Dead Butterflies, so different but so damn well thought all around.

It feels really weird to me. I like Animals, i like this, i like Dead Butterflies (one of the new songs from their livestream). I just dont see all three of them being in the same album. They are all very very different in style and heaviness. It's like they are making a buffet of metalcore with this album, which is not necessarely bad, but it will be a challenge to like all the songs.

I feel the exact same way about Black Lungs - chorus seems a bit too 'Rise Records' for me and it feels as though their new stuff is very structured and written in more of a pop songwriter way, probably why all the BMTH comparisons are being made. HOWEVER Architects can do no wrong and you definitely won't be disappointed by the new ones they played in the live stream.

I listened to the song like 15 times already today and the screaming during the breakdown part sounded super familiar to me but i couldnt pin it to anything, but now i think it reminds me a lot of the breakdown from Landmine by Polaris (although thats a lot heavier than this one here) for some reason.
