@@araya3835 Honestly, Royal Beggars was an easier sell to me because it just seemed like they played more... notes? Like that main riff just had more variation to it, and didn't just sit on one note. Idk this just wasn't hitting for me -for an Architects song-. I have loved this band for 10 years, and expect them to be the best album I listen to every year they release something, and this is the first time I've been disappointed. Even as recently as their last record, Doomsday helped me get through the loss of my father, I have such a deep connection to band's music, I'll still always rock with them. I'm sure the rest of this album will be bangers, just wanted more substance instrumentally.

For someone listening to metal since 1988 I can tell by my experience that this song is a mix of 90ies alternative metal with an simple but heavy hardcore riff and with vocals who sound much like a Trent Reznor of NIN. This is something that was quite popular in the 90ies and I don't hear the BMTH influence, as they are a pop band. This song here is angry and atmospheric and I love it !! This comes from someone who literary lives for metal and I am basically a death/Thrash/heavy metal head and no huge architects fan (but I like their djenty stuff)

I think this change of sound is part of what was explored in the Parkway Drive Doco Viva the Underdogs. Who is going to replace the current headliners of huge music festivals like Wacken? Architects, along with the more accessible Parkway Drive, could very well be those bands, but to reach that level, they need to evolve their sound to reach a larger audience. I see this as Architects making a move to claim the throne as the kings of metal, not just the kings of metalcore.

I get it, artists wanna go into a new direction. People get upset when they dont do something heavy with a track. And people will get mad at the people who do get upset. But we seem to forget that fans of bands like architects, wage war, northlane etc. are in essence also metalcore/hardcore/-core heavy music fans. Their heavy sound and screams are what drew in fans in the first place. So when bands put out something that sounds more akin to radio rock or bmth-core then of course fans will get upset because that type of sound wont resonate with them as much as their previous works. So yeah, artists and bands can go in whatever direction they want but there will be people who are upset and possibly seek out new bands who still retain their sense of heavy music.

A lot of people don't like this because they went in a different direction with this album. I've never been a fan of Architects. I don't know why but it just wasn't for me. with the new album comming out, I wanted to gave the old songs a new chance... and I must confess. that I'm just more of a fan of their new songs than the previous ones. I will probably be an exception to this. I am a big deathcore, metalcore and hardcore fan. and among all the heavy albums that I listen to regularly, this one is also on almost daily. these lyrics appeal to me more and the atmosphere they create here is fantastic🖤👌

This song is fantastic - screams or not. Look, I've followed this band since I picked up Hollow Crown (a couple years late) and with EVERY album they have done something new. If they release an entire album that is like this then I'd be shocked and let's not forget, people hated on Royal Beggars when that first came out and that album absolutely slapped. I don't think this is a 'DIRECTION'. I think this is 'WHAT THEY WANTED TO MAKE'. If you're a fan of the guys, you'll just accept the fact this is what they wanted to release and being frank, if you're going to hate on it you probably shouldn't be watching reaction videos

Tom was the main song writer for Architects. When he passed, Dan took over a lot of it and they put out Holy Hell which sounded a lot like their prior stuff. I feel like they did Holy Hell in the same way as somewhat of a tribute to Tom, hence why they put Doomsday on the record after saying that it was only going to be a single and not part of any particular album. They did what they needed to do for Tom and now they are moving forward with what they have now. Yes, it sounds different but it's being written by a completely different person, regardless of his relationship to Tom. RIP Tom and welcome the new Architects sound.

I don't think that's the issue here, I doubt most will begrudge the fact that Architects are looking to branch out and especially after losing Tom, will be in a different place creatively than a few years ago. The issue is that aside from obviously rehashing the same material again, they seem to have picked the most rudimentary form of branching out available to them - still identifiably Architects but with this whole "electronic influenced arena stomper" style of writing which seems to have become the mean of recent.

For those saying "bands evolve": There's a difference between evolution and total change of course. Learn form Parkway Drive, they needed like 3 albums to get to the sound they wanted without downgrading their work. I really hope this is Architect's most radio-friendly track of the upcoming album, because going from metalcore archetype to generic rock really hurts. I love it though I‘m missing something at the same time. It‘s just an overall great song and I can‘t complain about it - it just doesn‘t have that Architects signature sound. The main riff is smashing and amazing. The breakdown as well, but I missed the hype before the breakdown - it came kind of out of nothing. Also I‘m missing Sam Carters signature „sing screaming“ which would definetely spice that song up a little more. So for me the overall verdict is: as a standalone single it‘s probably an 8/10. As an Architects song and knowing what they are abled to do I would give it a 6/10 as it is just lacking some of the emotion they put into over songs.

I like the song but it definitely reminds me of some of the best recent BMTH songs like Ludens, Parasite Eve, and Obey. That’s a good sound though so I’m not complaining!

Such a good track. You already know the heavies are coming, but this just felt right considering all the world has been through as of late. Sam and gang are really stepping it up.

IMO a good song is a good song eventhough it doesn't meet our expectations. I'm really excited for what's coming next ♥️

I’m not a big Architects fan. Never really have been. But their guitar players band Sylosis is one of my favorites. They are amazing. He does the lead guitar work and the vocals. Check them out if you haven’t. The breakdown of this song was great, everything else just sounded basic imo. Not bad, just nothing that really interested me or anything.

I LOVE Architects, and this is a well done song, and I do like it.. I don't like it anywhere near as much as anything that was on Holy hell, or All our gods have abandoned us, but I won't criticize them for it if they are changing. But, this actually sounds a lot like older Architects to me, like their first album.

this is a great song. it's like the other side royal beggars. yes it sounds a bit like rammstein which is cool since i like em quite alot, but the only problem is people's expectations towards architects. they expected the song to be full of emotional screams and BLEGHs, like duh and honestly i don't like that energy. i've always been open to any kind of music from different genres regardless of what band plays it. hell even though i like metal, i do like kpop songs as well and i'm not an elitist who likes to hate on something so small and spreading that hate everywhere as if my opinion values more than everybody else's. i'd rather be silent about songs that don't suit me because not everyone shares the same taste as mine. again, "Animals" is a great song. it really caught me off guard in a good way and i'm looking forward to hear more songs off of their upcoming album

Definitely got massive rammstein vibes from this song but I feel like this is definitely one way of them going towards the way they want. I really enjoyed this song

I like Sam's screaming, but I also love his singing. I will always love anything Architects puts out, period. I respect them as artists and I want them to do what they want, and if that means less screams (at least in this one single)? I could care less, I like their music in general.

I don’t mind the song at all. The only problems I suppose is that there is no screaming or technical riffs. Which don’t bother me at all actually I enjoy it in a way but it’s not what made Architects, Architects. And their new sound isn’t too much unique either. But even then those are somewhat shuttle problems I have with it, but they did the style they were going for really well that it doesn’t matter as much that they went a somewhat ununique direction. And I think overall is a good song. 7/10.
