Aoty was 156/silence for me. I had never heard of them before and only listened to the album because of the jarring cover and it blew me away. I have been so obsessed with that album and now I’m seeing them live in a couple weeks!

Bro, you gave Inertia a 7/10 on the first listen, I even posted a comment on your Patreon that said you need to go back a relisten to it cause aint no way that was a 7. Glad you finally saw your error there lol. Album was killer. Also, your top 10 is definitely on point for me. I agree with a lot of it, only change I would make is Boundaries at 1. I loved the album but I didnt listen to it nearly as much as the others. Thats just me though. Great video.

It's actually phenomenal how our top albums match up this year! And it was also pretty hard for me to choose between Inertia, 156 and Boundaries for aoty. But eventually I was absorbed by DILM, it has killing lyrics, breakdowns and pace overall. Those featues gave it even more depth, especially with Marcus Vik. Makari is so slept on this year but this one is special and it instantly and for a long time hooked me; I defintitely recomend to give it a listen for ones who like more melodic, emotional stuff. Tbh I kinda miss this year, it makes me nostalgic, but also, happy, in way; eventually it was. 10. Livealie - Living in the Static (just listening to full and it instanlty breaks into my top 10, probably will go higher over time, complete banger) \ or Gravemind - Introsphere (hack, I'm really struggling now😅😅) 9. Ghost Atlas - Dust of the Human Shape 8. Imminence - The Black 7. Sable Hills - Odyssey 6. Cane Hill - A Piece of Me I Never Let You Find 5. Like Moths To Flames - The Cycles Of Trying To Cope 4. Just a couple I'm not seeing on anybody's lists, that I was blown away by - The Poetic Edda by Disembodied Tyrant/Synestia (collab) and Mare by Mirar. Both are quite incredible. I just discovered the channel tonight, listening to reactions to Mare. I really do need to check out some of these albums - a lot I'm not familiar with (but then, I'm an old fart - 63).

Fit For an Autopsy - The Nothing That Is LMTF and Avralize just barely miss out. Overall, the year was pretty damn good. Not as great as last year, but we were pretty spoiled in '23. The top six albums were all particularly incredible (even if it took time for Cure to grow on me), and Bring Me and Livealie really knocked it out of the park. Also, these don’t count since they’re not new albums, but the special editions of Heavener (Invent Animate) and Human (Resolve), and well as The Reclamation of I (Imminence) all would’ve made the list. The first two are two of the best special editions we’ve gotten in a while (feels like that great moment in ‘22 where ERRA and Landmvrks put out their specials at the same time), and the latter is probably the best re-recording I’ve ever heard.
