Serve Somebody: Phil Driscoll .mov

We were at Phil Driscoll's studio in LA to record some blues songs when Phil decided to take advantage of having a group of great musicians in the room to lay down an impromptu version of Bob Dylan's, "Serve Somebody." It's a very short journey from blues to gospel as this song proves. Phil Driscoll on keyboards, trumpet, & vocals; Hadley Hockensmith guitar; Greg Mathieson organ; Bill Maxwell drums; Michiko Hill piano; Pee Wee Hill bass.

Not sure how that is "actual and factual." Phil Driscoll is definitely white, as is Bob Dylan, the writer of the song. One surprise was Michiko Hill on piano - she is really good! And Phil's trumpet playing fits pretty well. These performers are all top-notch pros!

Wouldn’t it be a great movie about the great Phil Driscoll made befor you depart from this earth but who cares could they get to play the young Phil Driscoll don’t know that would be a hard one. But you could play the older Phil Driscoll alive and well. But it would be great movie about your life and career. There has been a lot of great musicians and great trumpet players but none as fine as Phil Driscoll. I would love ❤️ to see a movie about your life and career and the path you chose to follow Hod and glorify God with great music. You could have chosen a different path but God led you down the right path. I honor your voice in music and your great trumpet playing from the Trumpet himself. Please get to work on a movie before you depart. You are a good man chosen for the right moment for the right time and have blessed us with a great gifted musician. Phil and I were fellow band members at Central High in Tulsa. We were also friends. But life flows on, sometimes taking us in different directions. How good to know that he served Jesus with his music, as I have tried to do as a missionary. So this comment reaches all the way back to the 60's.

WOW! Good stuff! A major improvement on the original. This sounds at least as good as "When love came to town" from U2, as far as a pop/blues gospel tune goes. I understand the criticism though; contemporary tunes like these lack the depth of Biblical knowledge found in our hymn books. But the message is thought provoking and points to the right direction (unlike the Satanic and hedonistic trash constantly churned out by the secular world). So lighten up brethren, as our Savior Jesus Christ himself once said "For he that is not against us is on our part" (Mark 9:40 KJV).
