Outstanding work. Honestly the lighting here truly isn't complicated, just well designed and well executed... and the shots are exposed properly, which is where you can really botch things even with good lighting. This is /production design/ and it is absolutely cinematic. One could light their kitchen like this and film themselves wearing a T-shirt with a BMPCC4K all day, but it's never gonna look like this.

@Andrelas114 жыл бұрын
Quality of your shot relies more heavily on how its lit than what your shooting with. I've seen stellar films shot with cameras I never expected could pull off what they did all because the DP knew how to shape and use light. That being said you definitely don't need all the bells and whistles but they do all have purpose and are all designed to offer you more freedom and speed.

Everybody saying "this could have been done on a DSLR" clearly have never tried to work with projects that used both DSLRs and Blackmagic cameras shooting RAW. Yes, the lighting, sound, set dressing, and attention to detail here are much more important than the camera, but as soon as you get in the box to start putting things together, there's no comparison. Editing well-shot RAW footage is an absolute delight that allows you so much freedom in the grade, whereas editing well-shot DSLR footage still has a lot of creative limitations. Blackmagic RAW and BM's color science allow you to capture footage with an Ursa Mini Pro that, to most viewers, is practically indistinguishable from Arri or RED in the same scenario. The BMPCC 4k and 6k bring a lot of that to the table as well, as you can see. DSLRs are just different tools. Blackmagic makes cinema cameras. DSLRs are at their heart still about still photography. If you want to make cinematic looking footage, it's worth an investment in a cinema camera. Blackmagic has made it almost inexcusable not to with the price and quality of these cameras.

This is so amazing! And i like u let us know the light setUp/ but question! Why u have a ton of lights and u shoot iso 1000? Just! Wondering? Why u didn’t use 400 base iso?
@ANDBERY4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! On the 400 ISO the frame was noisy and dark.
@klatchabobby4 жыл бұрын
Shooting/using ISO 1000 pushes middle grey down in stops, allowing better dynamic range and space in highlights, which in this case works, because the scene is originally quite brightly lit.
@mikewalker25904 жыл бұрын
There would have had less noise shooting at 3200 ISO then switching to 1250 in post? 1000 ISO is the noisiest in the 400 ISO base range.

is the AMAZINGNESS of this being shot in a dark environment (compared to outside on a sunny day) and it look so great due to the camera settings? or the specific lens used? im trying to choose between Sigma 18-35 zoom or the Voigtlaender 42.5mm prime... either way most of my short films i plan on making at first take place outside.... and at night..... (and on the move, either double shoulder steady mount somehow or another DIY pvc gimbal to track/dolly).... advice? what lens? is the great night/dark footage because of ISO/camera settings or lens?

Very well lit and great composition! I was curious, what was your reasoning for exposing at 1000 ISO and not 400? Since you had full control over lighting, wouldn't it be more advantageous to shoot at lower ISO to help with shadow detail and fine tune the highlight on set by adjusting the lighting? I didn't notice any noise but generally 1000 ISO would have more than 400. How did your image render so clean at 1000 ISO? Thanks in advance!
@noahlebel-turcotte46624 жыл бұрын
Yeah right i was thinking the same thing. I know that the bmpcc 4k have dual iso. And i don’t think its 1000. I’m a bit confused and i need explainations
@TanguyGuinchardTeamSTAMA4 жыл бұрын
Yeah asked myself the exact same question. As the second iso range begins at 1250... I know that you get more details in the shadows on the first iso range and more highlights details on the second range but 1000 iso seems to be a terrible choice. The images looks bsolutely stunning !
@rodrigo8269 Жыл бұрын
Hi! One question I have, why did you use ISO 1000? From my experience, ISO 1250 has much less noise. Is something related to ISO 1000 having more latitude in the shadows and blacks?
