Just a few shots I got in in San Francisco and Black Star Canyon in Silverado with my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k Pro and a Mir 10A 28mm.

This really shows how when done right, a 28mm lens as slow as f3.5 on a super 35 camera, will look more cinematic than a fullframe with a 50mm 1.4 if you know how to compose and craft beautiful images. The Mir tends to have a lot of character already so while the beautiful dreamy images are great, taking off the BPM 1/8 would still show beautiful character from the lens

Thanks man! And I agree! Honestly though it was the halation in post that made it overkill, I’d go back and reduce it if I could haha

Please Blackmagic, if you read this -- the form factor on this thing is killing us out here. We WANT to use it but the lack of modularity (to mount V-mount batteries, on-camera monitor, audio, etc.) it's just not workable anymore. It hurts. For those of us who love BMD's color but can't show up to set looking like we just got our first DSLR out of film school. PLEASE create a box camera which we can customize and it'll crush the Komodo!
@jaceelliott6 ай бұрын
Have you seen the new bmpcc 4k/6k mod kit that someone is working on? I believe it’s called “pod”. Still has the DSLR style body but the v mount and monitor issue are solved with it. Looks pretty cool.

I mean like for comparison. I think red had the edge on BMPCC but its performs beautifull as well.@@jaceelliott
@jaceelliott5 ай бұрын
@@VasariFilms yeah for me it’s tough, there are a decent amount of factors to consider. Preference of color science, form factor, shooting style, menu set up, post workflow, importance of global shutter, internal NDs, and usable built in screen, price point, fps, etc. I think for run and gun scenarios I’d rather have the blackmagic and I love working with braw in davinci, but if we’re looking at straight up image quality I’d agree that the Komodo has the edge. So that’d be my choice for a larger production. Given the price point I suppose a better comparison would be between the ursa 12k olpf and the red Komodo. In that scenario I have a slight preference towards the Ursa at the moment, but it’s really hard to say until I get my hands on both of them. Sorry for the length, was just typing all my thoughts lol.

The scene filmed in the sea is as beautiful as a scene from a movie. Especially the 25, 35, and 46 seconds scenes are really pretty. Can you tell me if it's a scene made with a black mist filter? If you used it, I'd like to know the details. 1/4? 1/2? ☺️

I own a Mir10a do you recommend that I should purchase the MIR20m as well?
@jaceelliott4 ай бұрын
That’s a good question. I tend to shoot with the Mir 10a far more than the 20m, I just like that I still get some nice depth. The 20m is pretty nice if you want that wide look. It definitely has some really strong and unique lens flares though, just something to be aware of when back lighting. Personally I like to get the whole Soviet set just to have those options incase I need them and be able to have a somewhat consistent feel throughout. I’d say get it and you can always sell it for the same price if you don’t like it

In your opinion which is the best to purchase between the MC Mir20m and the Mir20m?
@jaceelliott4 ай бұрын
@@SouthPhilly28th good question. I went with the non-MC version just because I really wanted to strong vintage look and heavy flares. I think either way you’ll get an awesome look and it probably won’t be that big of a difference. That being said, I would go with the non-MC if it’s available and isn’t significantly more expensive
