BMS Lost City Level - Nanite & Lumen - Unreal Engine 5

The Bigmediumsmall The Lost City Collection. Assets are incredibly realistic and easy to use and we are launching a big update for that collection very soon.
I’ve always wanted to try Unreal Engine for my ideas, maybe to do some short cinematics and fortunately UE5 early access was released. It was the turning point for me. I dived deep and I’m blown away by the creative freedom which the engine gives. Of course, there are things that don’t work well with UE5 yet like foliage, vertex paint, water, but Lumen and Nanite are phenomenal.
Creating giant cities or endless landscapes is not limited anymore by your video memory or polygon count as it was with conventional 3d software. And having real-time Global Illumination (even though part of it is fake) in the scene makes life so much easier :) New poly and mesh editing tools inside the engine are also very cool.
The entire scene was created only with Lost City Collection and Megascans rocks.

If animation polishing isn't easy, I think simple light with a wisp-like moving would be better than using human character. Also, this choice can get some benefit from the lumen.

Well done! I see everyone is complaining about the animation, but it is due to the almost mechanical pace it takes while using kb&m. For making walkthrough demos I recommend plugging in an Xbox controller. The analog sticks make movement a lot more fluid and can add some speed variation. Welcome to the roughnecks!

It was just a default Unreal Mannequin that's why it doesn't look very good. :)

That looks good, especially the environment models, textures, etc. The lighting on the other hand is not so sure, there are some dark spots such as at minute 1:28, not sure why lumen didnt bounce those direct lights into those black shadow spots, pretty sure ssgi alone can catch those.

Realistic Character animation is one of the hardest things to do. Why do you think motion capture was invented? The whole thing from start to finish is amazing!

This was really great and inspiring! But as already mentioned, the animation doesn't hold to the environments. I'd suggest, if nothing else, to at least throw Advanced Locomotion System in there.

Thanks! I know that animation is bad here, we have just used default Unreal Mannequin. That was my first ever project inside Unreal Engine, will try to do better next time! :)

Graphics aren't anything special now that Joe Blow amateurs can just click a button and get AAA quality. Any game can look like this now.
