Alright you lot! The new record’s out Friday and we’ve just release a new edit of Drown on iTunes. Originally “Drown” wasn’t meant to be on the record but after we released it, it seemed to resonate so much with a lot of our fans and new fans alike. We felt like it needed its own place rather than being sandwiched between two albums. Hope you enjoy - Oli

it's killing me how much people are putting down bring me the horizon for their changes. I saw them live on the Parks and Devastation tour and Oliver Sykes literally explained that he was in rehab and dealt with an enormous struggle with addiction. When he finally got out he came to the decision that he doesn't want to scream anymore, he wants to sing. And that to me is beautiful, it takes a lot to make a huge decision like that especially where they are now. Knowing that people won't like the change, but his intentions are good and he's not doing to follow a trend or anything, he's doing to for himself. I love it.

I love the symbolism in the video that represents mental health, people having slight things but not making a huge deal out of it, and pulling themselves together again, like the eyes and invisible hand, but then every now and again someone can't cope and bursts out and makes it obvious to everyone, but can be helped
@jokerhernandez22808 жыл бұрын
Yangy Productions the song is honestly true because some people build a wall around them selves to stay safe from the world and they only let certain people in the wall they built to keep em safe and the part " who will fix me now, dive in when I'm down, save me from myself, don't let me drown" is actually a true verse in the song because everyone has that one person that helps them, takes care of them, truly loves them, and will do anything for them.... I know I do #my bae forever and always Eddie

Well ill have to disagree with you a little. I dont know anything about the meaning of the lyrics or related to song anyway. As a long time depression patient i can totally understand people who build their walls around them. The sad truth seems to be that those who need friends and family most are never gonna get them, people who experience pain and suffering from their own train of thought shall keep those who love them in a distance 'cause they feel having problems and introducing them to the public is a weakness which leads to even more suffering and problems when they cannot talk it through with anyone. And thats what i call the true darkness. Dont judge book by its cover could be an excellent phrase to stop this jibberish :D
@Finsterbergmade18 жыл бұрын
gosh, I never thought of that, but it should have been actually very obvious for me, cause my ex-best-friend had depressions and I didn't have them too but I was totally NOT OK. I always felt like it's me who has got to wake her up one day and make all her problems 'suddenly' disappear.... But in the end, she changed the school and didn't want to have any contacts with people she knew before (me too) I just wanted to say, that you're right but if that person doesn't realise that he/she is going to break their friends too, it is worse for them.

Middle Earth No offense, but you can't wake up someone out of depression. It's literally a mental disability. LEGIT depressed people (such as myself) have a brain that doesn't produce the right chemicals to make you have a healthy continual rotation of emotion. Only medical attention such as medicine, psychologists/psychiatrists as well as a VERY strong support system can help. It's a heavy burden on the afflicted and on those associated with the afflicted. But honestly, no one who doesn't have Depression will EVER understand. That's something they need to figure out

I just realized why the drummer attacks the keyboardist. It could be either out of fun, giving that his surname is "Fish" (lol) Or may have a deeper meaning. After Sempiternal, the band decided to leave that "aggressive" sound that marked their first albums. So, becoming a werewolf, that "aggressive side" once sealed is out again, and he attacks the keyboardist because he's the new member that also had a key role in the band's transition into a "softer" sound. But, again, that side is being exorcized in the next scene, as if the band is saying something like "we have enough of this, just accept the fact we've changed". Anyway, I love the direction they took. This kind of music is really good, and it's amazing to see that good music is so widespread, compared to all that mainstream shit out there. But I also liked old BMTH. They were different, but both were good. The end.

I'm 35 now and lost my mother without any warning in 2014 and my dad took his life in 2020 at the heigt of the damn covid catastrophe and the uncertain future that came with it. I feel horribly lonely at times. Asking myself how the hell I "should do this on my own", as the lyrics of the song go. It's hard when you have nobody to call to ask a few questions about "adult life", that you feel you have no answer to. Stay strong brother. We're young and I'm sure we still got the best ahead of us! Artists get no where if they stupidly decide to keep making the same music for 9 years straight just to please a couple pissy people who don't like change. Not a fan anymore? Well you'll just be replaced by a new one. No matter how appreciative they are, how amazing they are, bands always change. And if the music is good, they will just keep gaining fans, even if all the old ones leave. So suck it up and don't disrespect a band you used to like by leaving rude comments like "you suck now." Oh what a surprise people complaining. I swear the metal community are by far some of the worst complainers i've ever seen. Do you order the same thing every time you go to a restaurant? no you don't because that's boring, do bands make the same music every album, no they don't because that's boring. If you don't like it listen to work by them or listen to something by someone else you like, (doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out) It's different, change isn't bad. Unbunch your panties and move along.

"Save me from myself" The most impactful line in the song. I've been battling crippling depression for the past 3-4 years now and I can say that it's my own thoughts I am not able to get control over to fight that depression away once and for all. I've lost all hope and belief in life and just take it as it comes now.
@Thomas-by1oh5 жыл бұрын
well my friend, i will just say this. I've just overcome a period of depression, at least momentarily, and at a certain point i truly believed i couldn't ever get out of it. People kept asking "are you ok?" when i just wanted to be alone, they kept saying "i know how you feel" when they really didn't even imagine what it was like... Now I'm here, looking back at this year, not knowing what got me into it nor what helped me out of it. I just felt the need to start bonding with people again. I swear I'm crying right now listening to this song, looking at how i lost what i cared the most about due to my closure, and I'm fighting to not fall back into it because of this realisation. Try to start swimming in your head, instead of sinking or disappearing:) ...even though it took me a year to get there Just know i believe in you, and i truly think you can make it out.

That's almost exactly how I feel. Like everything is hopeless. I've dealt with depression for probably 10+ years now off and on. I have medicated myself with almost every drug there is. I've tried to drink myself to death more times than I can even remember. I drank soo much that at 23 years old my kidney levels were 3x higher than what's normal range. I've just always felt alone, even around the people I love and care about. Life is not ment to be easy, most people go through something horrible in their lives at some point. The biggest and hardest thing in life is how you look at your situation. You can either look at it like everything is hopeless and will never get better or look at what is good and how much worse the situation could be. Almost all of the most powerful, popular, influential people have come from the absolute worst situations and life. Its because they realized it's not what happens to you, it's what you do about it. NEVER GIVE UP!! Its It's not about how many times you fall, its about how many times you get back up!!! That is what makes successful people, just look into how many times million and billionaires failed before they succeeded! I'm sorry you have been dealing with depression, I know how horrible and debilitating it can be. Things will get better, it just takes time and patience. Please look into six good minutes podcast, and From Victim to victor. Atleast read or watch KZbin about victim to victor Author.

For those of you bashing the song His last album tells a story About recovering from his addiction This song is telling about how he's still fighting "Don't let me drown" Is like a cry for help. How his demons try to come back but he's fighting it. Yes it's not the old Oli but Oli had said he doesn't want to scream he wants to sing because his screams were help from the addiction and now he's telling his story through music. Like it or not it's up to you but remember, and listen, that his music tells a tale of a man who let drugs get to him and now he's letting go, still fighting.

I think this songs a great portrayal of depression. Lyrically on point for obvious reasons, but the way the music/singing switches from more numb(calmish?) to frustration (a cry for help?) really gets to me. Like you go from not getting wanting to move/get out bed to being pissed off at other people for not helping/caring and at yourself for being so pathetic. Idk but really a great song. Doomed is my favorite song on the album, but I really appreciate the composition of this one all around.

If you watch his acceptance for Album of the Year, he talks about how after his drug addiction, "[he] didn't want to scream anymore, [he] wanted to scream from the rooftops." It's pretty inspiring, to be honest. He has a unique blend of raspiness and clean vocals. I like it a lot. I like the fact that they're moving away from deathcore. I enjoy my heavy songs along with the more poppish songs. What's important is to not become a person who is so scared to admit that they like something other metal music that they begin to spew hate at any change. This is a good song, step out of your rigid perspective and enjoy the sounds of a changed man.

Not disagreeing with you, but he won't have his raspy voice for long. It probably hurts to sing/scream for him these days. I don't see BMTH being around in five years. This song sounds good, but would it sound good live at a show? I've seen them live personally, they didn't do so well. Their studio stuff sounds good, but if you can't sound similar to that at a show then something is wrong.

This song is unbelievable, BMTH will always be changing for the better I think. Look at Sempiternal, it was completely different from the other records and it was one of the best albums of the year. If bands stayed with the same style again and again they wouldn't get anywhere. This song will bring in so many more new fans too, this is the type of song anyone could enjoy if it was on the Radio/TV. If you're a BMTH fan and you're giving them shit for doing something softer and different then you don't understand what they are about at all, they are too good to be sticking with the same stuff all the time.

I genuinely don't understand why a band has to "stay the same" for everyone to like them. It's either you stay the same and your music becomes repetitive, or you change some of your sound and become more creative. You should be supporting them BECAUSE they want to explore creative boundaries. It's one thing to dislike their music, but calling them hypocrites and assholes because of that? That's a little extreme.

this is exactly what I thought! Take MCR as an example, their music got progressively more pop sounding as they went on
@anthonycavuoto171910 жыл бұрын
A true bands sound matures as time goes on. This band is the perfect example of that. As time went on they have gained more lyrical integrity, more use of ambience, smarter use of heavy riffs, better melodies, better production value, and better ideas in general. It's no longer senseless brutality, now they are complete marketable and listenable product that still incorporates all the nuances of their heavy past.
@Supra22910 жыл бұрын
Anthony Cavuoto dude that is exactly right. Blink 182 is an example I think. They use to be punk (which I still love there old music) but once they got back together they were way more mature, took a little to get use to at first. But I love the way they sound now

Everyone in the comments are selfish. They are either "I really like this song, I'm glad they made it." Or "god this sucks, I hate this song compared to their old stuff." All that matters is they are doing what they love. Fans don't complain and try to push the people they love into doing things they don't like Or mercilessly attack them for their choices. And this goes for all artists. They are going to do what THEY love. You like certain songs, listen to those. Like nothing, don't listen and subject yourself to something you don't like. You like everything a band or singer produces, enjoy the music. That's all it comes down to. Listen to what you like and let others listen to what they like.

@AugieSubsJrock10 жыл бұрын
Jesse Deptula No having an opinion doesn't make you selfish. That's not what's being said here. The people who complain about a band's current sound and just want the sound that THAT person liked are the ones acting selfish. Bands change, some for the better and some worse.
@therearenostars10 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make someone selfish. Some people like harder music. I know ppl who hated this band but would love it now with stuff like this. Fans don't have to love EVERYTHING a band makes
@thatonegirl756410 жыл бұрын
Let me add on to this, having constructive criticism is ok. Mindlessly hating on a song or repeating something that 40 other commenters have already said is not. -Jesse

@@etiennegrizz1145 I thought this song was supposed to be satire when I first saw it. now I've seen it for a second time and still thought it was, what with the werewolf and back to the future reference, etc, but then i saw a comment talking about mental health and depression. so I'm guessing this isn't comedy and is about depression. To me it just seems boring, it doesn't do any of what you said; I'm just sitting here listening and kind of zoning out because it's kinda boring. the only thing that grabs my attention is the ending when he says "drown" and the intermission. the intermission is the part of this song I like the most. Of course, just because I feel that way doesn't mean others do too. I'm not trying to undermine anyone else's experience with this song or anything like that. But y'know what *does* do what you said? JAZZ. oh boy jazz. jazz is 10/10 would listen again, 7/7 I'm in heaven, etc. its so much more interesting to listen to and is so much more fun to play. Y'got yer soloing, melody, big chord variety... I love that. My jazz piano teacher tells me that he likes to play music because lyrics don't matter. to him, it's all about the music. Try out some Dave Brubeck, or, if you want some more trippy insane jazz, John Coltrane's A Love Supreme and Giant Steps. If ya want funky amazingness, go for Herbie Hancock and his album Head Hunters. you will not be dissapointed.
@etiennegrizz11455 жыл бұрын
@@hand-drawnanimations8763 Hey ! Thanks for sharing this (^_^) I appreciate jazz, even though I rarely listen to it... I'll check out what you sent me ! And for this song, I've been going through a fucked up phase of my life during the last months, and the way this song talks about depression and loneliness really helped me pouring my mind out and getting better, so I guess the way you understand the meaning of the song is very related to your personnal context... Out of this, I do understand that music is able to express a lot of things without lyrics (John Frusciante has a lot of great melodies that don't need lyrics), but I'm also convinced that adding lyrics is like adding another instrument, and if you do it fine, you'll obtain a good result, especially when it comes to helping people's mind with anxiety and depression issues Thank you again dude for your point of view ! ;)
