BMV Lowers Plug-In Hybrid Fees By $50!

At public charging stations, EV drivers may also pay sales taxes or an equivalent along with a tax on the electricity used. In Ohio, however, there was recently a change in this and a further breakdown in fuel type fees due to so many disputes filed by plug-in hybrid electric vehicle owners. Effective January 1, 2024, Revised Code (R.C.) section 4503.10(C), requires an additional registration fee for the following the following motor vehicles, per registration year: Hybrid vehicle - $100 Plug-in hybrid - $150 Electric vehicle - $200 www.bmv.ohio.gov/vr-firstissuance.aspx#:~:text=After%20January%201%2C%202020%3A,%24200%20fee%20per%20registration%20year. The fuel type fee is charged when a qualifying vehicle is registered for the first time, and for all subsequent registration renewals. @@DrAndreaDinardo thank you Doc keep in mind. This is only in Ohio. We’re not sure what other states or other countries are doing, but it is nice that the Democratic process worked in this situation and they listen to everyone’s disputes and made some changes. We are very very happy with how this car has worked out and Jack looks forward to buying it for me within the next year or so…… not sure what I’m gonna do for my own personal car after he buys this one for me though, but I guess we’ll have to figure that out

In Europe the sale of electric cars has not yet taken off, hybrids are starting to colonize the market but in my opinion it is not the right way also because the electric engine in hybrids works for too little distance while the one with fuel is the most used.
