BMW 1M: Brembo GT Brake Bedding

Now that the Brembo GT rotors and calipers are installed on the 1M I want to hurry up and get them bedded. From what I understand this applies a transfer film from the pads onto the rotor and allows optimal performance.

When I've bedded the brakes with Hawk pads and Stoptech rotors (same with Brembo rotors on a previous car) the rotors turned slightly blue from the process just like these did.

The other thing I found out Matt with brakes especially the stop tech I have on my Subaru that I noticed from day to day driving you’ll lose some of that pad transfer so once in a while I’ll re bed in my pads.

Hi Matt. I purchased similar Brembo brakes (GT-S 380 F/380 R) for my M2. I bleed the system about 3 times in each caliper in different days after driving a while. I feel the pedal needs to travel more to grab the brake compared to stock. Also with faster braking, I feel the travel is very different than slow braking meaning faster braking it needs to travel less. Could this be an indicator of air in the system, or it looks more like this kit's brake style?

might be 2yrs late, but from my experience, if you have upgraded from smaller brakes to larger brakes but you didn't change your master cylinder, your cylinder will have to push more fluid to clamp the rotor compared to your smaller brakes. think of it as for ex: you have 2 pistons and upgrade to 4 pistons. you'll have to push 2 more pistons worth of fluid to clamp. as for the brake pressure between stabbing brakes vs pressing brakes, you have different clamping forces at play with different velocities of pedal press. not only that, the pad:rotor couple experiences different types of friction when coming into contact. (dynamic vs static for example)
