Little did they know at the time that this engine would be one of the most disastrous BMW ever released. Cylinder block liner walls are too thin and this results in them eventually cracking... and leaving you with eye watering repair costs.
@missiondan5263 жыл бұрын
Doing mine now, bmw supply a revised block that replaces ally liners with cast iron which solves the issue once and for all, any future buyers should check this work has been done (you dont want a matching engine number) the cost is 3k diy 6k to send it off

@@missiondan526 Even DIY [my preferred route] it's still a whopping amount of money on £4K-£5K car.

@@davyboy888 agreed, its a 2k job diy. 6k to send it off, but its a long game, they are dropping like flies right now as the value isn’t there to fix them... but think ahead, the rarity is going up as a result, these will blow up in value in 10 years time

@@missiondan526 @Mission Dan Ya that's very true. I'm the second owner on an absolutely immaculate low mileage E46 325i M-Sport saloon - have it 13 years now - and while they're at a low ebb value-wise right now, they're fantastic cars and supply/demand will pitch them back up again in time. Guess it's all about patience. I may restart by search for a 320si [requiring a rebuild] again... as had a soft spot for them when they were raced in the WTCC.
