all 335i coupes don't have m sport suspension. they also originally come with different setup in terms of shockers and shorter springs along with comfort seats not sport seats unless you order them as an option and standard 335i's don't have twin oil cooler like the M sport version.

@SaMaster18 BMW under tuned the 335i for some reason, but thanks to a simple $600 JB4 Tune that gives the 335i an extra 50-80whp. With the tune im sure it would done low to mid 4 second 0-60 with a good driver.

well there is a rumor going around that xDrive "robs power" from the motor compared to RWD and the gas mileage suffers more. but i feel that AWD equates to a better launch and 1/4 mile time with DTS/DTC turned completely off.

@emanko111 the 335i is rear wheel, any BMW "X" is all wheel, what this is I don't know. The S5 is quatro, all wheel drive which is decent in the winter. I personally always thought the 3 series for BMW was for women, not men.

that's interesting, i took an exit ramp (rated at 15mph) at about 60 and felt a bit of understeer and started to experience sliding but my DTC/DTS corrected it, i should try it when it's turned off. I think it's more to do with my run flat tires that came stock with the car. They aren't performance tires by any means..just all seasons.

@JMGameVideos i agree 100% I think Audi buyers are a bit different than bmw ones. Most of my friends who own bmws own it because of the tradition of handling and power. I don't want to win any races. But the styling of the audi gives me goose bumps. I'd feel sweet in that car. Hell, i'd even take the base 2.0t . The designers nailed the styling and proportions of the a5/s5/ My 2cents

xDrive is an extra though, with the S5/RS5 the Quattro is a standard feature. Buy used and find a decent 3 series with xDrive and all other options you want (or are expected of a car of this calibre) and you may struggle. Long and short of it, compare the 335i and the S5 and the S5, at least in my view after ample research is the one to go for. In fact, the new 4 series which replaces the 3 coupe xdrive is not offered for the 435i at all... At least not in the UK

oops completely forgot about the Z series probably cause im not a fan. which completely invalidates a fair bit of my argument sorry about that. but these are day to day cars on the track you'll shred most if not all of your tread and overheat your breaks because of the sheer weight of them. the M3 csl being an exception.

AWD will always equate to a better launch, I've only ever spun the wheels and not got the power down instantly with the quattro once, and that was on gravel. On a track or the road the power goes from the engine to the road with minimum of fuss, even with the traction control fully off. But AWD has greater losses from flywheel to wheels, it always has and always will. It's not always about the figures though. AWD will help in turns too, not a peep or twitch from wide bends at 80 with the quattro

..they make 335s with xDrive(my coupe has it) and does just fine in snow as long as it's not 2 feet plus. I live in NY and our last blizzard didn't phase my friends 335xi and i was driving around with him in my Jeep Overland at the time.

I have just returned home from a drive in my toyota celica t-sport and have had a short run in with a BMW 335i or 325i coupe (at 130 mph i couldn't decipher the middle digit). The point is, that although the BMW eventually got past me after 110 mph, from 40 mph up to 100mph, i was out acclerating the BMW in a straight line. I got past it again in traffic as he was held up, but when clear i slowed to 50mph and waited for him to come behind, floored it and again left him trailing.

i assumed lambo's, and vipers and other super cars would have them i didn't know M3's did. the problem is that as far as i know the carbon in carbon fiber is made using petroleum by products so the cost is only increasing

I've got the PSS on my S5. I chose an S5 over an M3, even though it really mean to compete against the 335. If you really buy a car in that class because of potential horse power perhaps you're shopping in the wrong segment of the market. I use my S5 for road trips and it's incredible fun for the level of comfort and a head turner on top of it. I got more compliments on that car in a few weeks than 10 years of owning 3 series.

Its the package that counts most, like handling and power combined plus smooth power delivery put the BMW on top usually and here put it on top in a race albeit slightly. So there goes, full package wins.

M3 and RS3 aren't sports cars? They're both premium brand that make sport coupes aka sports cars. They're just based on a normal series car but they are much more than that. A car doesn't have to be a dedicated model to qualify as a sportscar.. The M1 is a 30 year old car and the 1M was BMW's small sports car which had a limited run due to marketing and the new generation 1-series coming out.

It was a typing mistake, thanks for bringing to attention, it should read 13.5s. Point is the book says 15s, so don't beleieve what the books say. I own a civic type-r and lexus ls430 as well, and book says both much quicker than celica, but my experience is the celica up to 130 quicker than both. After that lexus is quicker but type-r is not. On a seperate point,forget a ferrari enzo, I'd have a nissan gtr or maybe a ford mustang selby 500 kr.

Let's be honest, it is 100% down to the driver when it comes to which of these 2 cars will win any race. However, I don't race everywhere I go and that was taken in to consideration when I chose between these two cars. My money went on the Audi, IMO it is the better of the two to drive and the V8 grunt just couldn't be matched by the BMW... on top of that, the Audi works in snow, the BMW... well, BMWs can't even move on level ground in the snow (which makes me wonder about the ski pass).

Audi has been coming up with the exact same design for all their cars in the last 10 years. Half the time I can't even tell them apart, which is a shame cause the design itself isn't too bad. At least BMW's all look different although I'm not a fan of the 7 series (plain ugly), the 5-series GT (terrible) and the X1 and X3 (a big failure).

never heard of sports tires coming standard explains why they struggle in the winter with lazy drivers. every pound helps as shown but the RS5 and M3 the difference shows clearly on a dry track. yeah even the "little" A1 weighs 1.2 tonne

I disagree entirely.. The two are compared more than they should be. BMW produces mostly RWD luxury sports cars. Audi is almost exclusively AWD sporty luxury cars. They are targeting two different niches, though there is obviously some overlap and competition. I personally prefer Audi, thus explaining my purchase of an Audi S5.

Just got my 2010 S5 Prestige and its a bad mo fo. Mercedes and BMW have nothing on the Audi. Looks wise, the S5 is the nicest in its class. The inside is whats really amazing. The 3G MMI is amazing.

You can't really hate on either car. Both cars are BEAUTIFUL! however with my money i would take the BMW. I have owned 3 BMW's in my past, 2 of which have been tastefully modded by me :D I know how to work on cars very well and due to the reliability of Audi's i would not buy one. Audi's will be at the shop more than on the road. I know BMW is not the best on reliability, but its better than audi, plus i rather have two turbos than a v8. Get a nice BOV and psssh! down the road. :D

I love the looks of the s5, I was so torn between both the 335i coupe and s5. Eventually i decided to go with the BMW because i have always driven BMW, But the audi is still an amazing car! I'd take the Audi anyday, much more beautiful, and more luxury than the 335i. BMW do make nice cars, but they can never compete with the quattro. Audi is still the best german "all-in-one" car brand.
