Happy New Year Gareth. Have you guys ever disassembled one of these brick style heat exchangers? I've wondered what they look like inside.

I have the same question. My auxiliary oil-to-water cooler failed internally on my '14 335i xDrive M-Sport with the N55 engine (my aux cooler has 4 connections coming out of it, 2 for coolant in/out and 2 for oil in/out, and is located next to the coolant reservoir). What causes an internal failure on these? It was an absolute nightmare to deal with, because it caused oil and coolant to mix. I luckily caught it after only one day, when the low coolant light came on.

Hey Gareth, thank you for the super helpful guide! I just had a quick question, do you think it’s possible to swap the oem oil cooler on the n20 to an n55 style oil cooler? Specifically the one you mentioned at 0:35.
