Great to see how things are behind the scenes, I have followed WSR for many years now, and i have to say the BMW looks like a proper saloon touring car. I am not a fan of the hybrid system at all, that really killed the racing this year for me that. The next gen stuff though i remember reading about when that 1st come out, nearly bankrupted one team, when they tried to build their own car, they ended up selling it on. Another team ended up selling up and coming back.

Brilliant insite to behind the scenes. Is there any chance of behind the scenes at the race meeting. Also more on the fabrication side of the builds
@TheRaceBay Жыл бұрын
Behind the scenes at a BTCC race may be difficult (blame ITV) but a different race series might be possible. Fabrication, definitely; Watch this space. We're not the fastest or most frequent channel but get there eventually!

0:13 Some secret new tech around the push rod?
@TheRaceBay Жыл бұрын
It's not new tech there, but the way the suspension has been set up is kept secret from other teams.

These BMW engines are monster after a few mods and a tune they can reach 500hp or stock internals
@km683211 ай бұрын
Not really a "few" mods its a handful and a good tune. But yea bmw really did a good job with the b48 and b58
@darylyatestransportblogs2 ай бұрын
Think 400hp is easily achievable with these NGTC engines just by upping the turbo boost think they are around 380hp so Dick Bennetts saying around 390 is probably about right not counting over boost and hybrid.

This was super cool to watch! I’ll be honest I never knew the front and rear subframes were standardized parts between all the teams! It sure does sound like the rules and regulation thats is required by the teams to follow will make for tight competitive wheel to wheel racing that we all want to see 😄 When did this start being implemented, in which year, that all teams must be on the same subframe packages built by one company ? Was it like this for the early 90s cars and 2000s cars like the e36 and e46 chassis as well ?
@TheRaceBay Жыл бұрын
The standardised subframes and transmission were gradually introduced in 2011 and fully implemented by 2014 if I’ve done my research right. The earlier cars you mentioned used production bodyshells - albeit with much modification - instead of the sub-frame approach. We're hoping to be able to cover older vehicles in the new year and a super-touring car is on the list!

Touring car racing is really cool, would be fun to own one. I dunno if I'd go BMW though, maybe Audi, Volvo, Ford, even Toyota.
@kaldogorath Жыл бұрын
It's weird they want stock cars essentially, wasn't the point that they were production cars?
@TheRaceBay Жыл бұрын
There's still a rule that states that the cars must be based on production vehicles despite the TOCA stock parts

@Lazerus20082 ай бұрын
I worked for TOCA back in the mad days . Its a shame that the budgets got out of hand and they had to move to control parts because the cars that were being built at the time were utter spaceships compared to these. Blame Audi 😏

We'd really like to feature a super-touring car from the late 1990s. Great cars albeit ludicrously expensive!
@andybtec6 ай бұрын
And this is why touring car racing isn't as good as it was. It's basically one make racing. Same chassis different body
