Are you serious that it is practical to store charging cables under the floor of the boot? I had the same opinion before I bought EV and used boot for the first time. It is pain in the ... to get charging cables when boot is not empty. I didn't see proper solution for storing charge cables in car, except for frunk solution. And when boot is empty, you don't need to bother putting charge cables under the floor, so there is no disadvantage for Volvo on this front from my point of view.

The problem with volvo is the infotainment have limited inputs, it's just not as easy to use on the fly compared to idrive which have multi inputs, economy difference is negligible between them really and volvo depreciates more over time. I have watched many car reviews and comparisons between S90 T8 and 330e. This is the first one that states 330e is better... Range: They are both the same... Charging: You can't judge by cables... Performance: Volvo (Anw, Volvo started off at a puddle of water...) Drive: I will believe BMW will be better because BMW is a driver focus brand Comfort & Refinement: Volvo got one of the most comfy seats in the segment, about the same as Lexus... and it has more legroom than 330e. Infotainment: If u compare S90 to 530i, I would say the 5 series are better. But in T8 and 330e, T8 offers too many features that 330e does not have because T8 is the highest spec car in Volvo segment while for BMW is 340i... Moreover, Volvo S60 has way more features than BMW 330. Their adaptive cruise control and pilot assist is already a major win, don't even mention the other safety features that Volvo is known of. I am a Volvo driver, but I am not biased... because before buying Volvo, I actually dislike them until I test drove a Volvo and compared it to BMW. In this plug-in segment, Volvo is clearly the winner, comparing with 330e and Merc C300e ( In Singapore )

Wow... I found this video more than a little biased. I don't own either but let's run through the categories: 1. Range - BMW win. Marginal, but let's give it. Larger battery tho... 2. Charging - I would say volvo win based on cheaper charger. Both are similar in a lot of ways. The BMW storage gimmick will (in all honesty) never be used, which only results in reduced boot space.. 3. Performance - volvo. By quite a long shot. Its about a tenth quicker to 60 than BMW. This doesn't really matter to me though, with 2 young kids lol 😂 4. Driving - subjective, depends on what you like. I'd value the safety and stability of awd over rwd any day. So for me volvo. 5. Comfort etc - seems like a draw to me. I do know however that volvo makes some of the most comfy seats... BMW.. don't. 6. Interior - BMW, based on superior infotainment system (as presented by Vicki). I'd value quality of materials over this but hey. What do I know 🤷 So in my opinion (which doesn't count for anything lol) and based on this video I'd give win to volvo BMW 2:4 Volvo Just my 2p

Ordered V60 Polestar week ago ... While I consider both to be pretty good cars there were few things better in Volvo for me. * Towing capacity: Volvo 2000kg, BMW 1500kg (I think ... definitely not more) * Standard traction control in BWM cuts power with winter tyres ALL THE TIME * V60 has more (especially in trunk) usable space if you need it (I need it) * Selecting all extra equipment to Volvo and taking BWM to same level -> price difference was not that big anymore (and all the money you put to extras you will loose anyway -> total cost of ownership very close the same) ... of course would be more sensible to select less extra ... * At least the cars which I tested BMW was as a bit noisier (both had winter tyres) * Volvo has more power (well both have enough ... but anyway) * Although I was a bit sceptical about Volvo putting all the 'buttons' to screen, I felt that Volvo's center screen was easier to use than very small buttons in BMW (like changing temperature, also changing drive mode from center console in BWM was harder ... when car was new to me it was impossible to do without looking the buttons which are very low in center console) * I liked Volvo seats more * In normal driving they felt pretty much the same and hybrid system works in same way (and Passat GTE works quite differently) ... both surprisingly good I would say Some points for BMW * I assume ZF in BMW is better than Aisin in Volvo, but did not see much (or any) difference in normal driving. More aggressive driving would most likely show difference * BWM has bigger (more powerful) electric engine, which I like * BMW had more possibilities to configure driving modes

Wonder how the fact that the Volvo now officially does 58 miles on battery power alone (huge UK company car implications compared to the 36 miles for the BMW) and now has 455 bhp compared to the 330e's 292 bhp (briefly in sport boost mode) for under £50k compared to a similar spec BMW (about the same cost, and higher company car tax) swings the verdict? Why are EV car designers not including some form of retractable cabling for the charging cable that can be accessed from a fuel filler type cap. As others have said here, storing the cable in any compartment in the boot makes it difficult to access when things are in the boot. The cables also get dirty and wet so putting them in the boot (trunk or frunk) with other items gets those items mucky and wet. There are better and more practical design solutions to this surely!

Volvo's battery regeneration system is much more efficient than BMW's. In other words, you get more autonomy in the Volvo, even with the smallest battery due to its efficient charge regeneration system. The BMW does not have the "B" mode (other than D) that turns the rear axle into a generator. Depending on the situation, as in a mountain descent, you can regenerate 100% of the battery, without using regeneration by the brake or charging the battery by the combustion engine, which is no longer possible to do in a BMW because the traction is only in the rear axle.

Mercedes have the best solution in the e class and c class with a diesel plug in hybrid and it has a 7 Kw on board charger I’m swapping my outlander phev for e class 300 de estate next week I always leave a lead in my drive at home and another one plugged in at work so rarely need to to use the one in the boot

How often do you actually run your Diesel engine? One huge advantage of Diesel vs gasoline/petrol engine in a PHEV is ability to not run the engine for months and not worry of sludge in fuel tank. Most PHEVs starting from original Chevrolet Volt will run forcefully the engine to burn a tank of fuel at least each 6 months. And yes cudos to European market keeping alive estate/station wagon car body shape vs North America where it has to be a SUV.

To anyone suggesting a model 3, they're reviewing luxury cars. The model 3 is a plain looking turd inside. Like seriously though.. that interior is gross. NOT a luxury car

Could you be more biased??? The Volvo has won on at least 2 more categories (eg. Interior - I mean seriously, how can you even compare a full touch screen with so many options to the crappy infotainment system that the BMW has? Not to mention the more spacious trunk space) and yet the BMW still wins? She even said so herself, price wise, you will end up paying more for the BMW to get the same extras you already have on the Volvo. I'm not even going to go into the reliability issue. I wouldn't trust a BMW to get me round the corner... LOL!
@Gamingmusic1115 жыл бұрын
You must be living in some sort of parallel universe to believe that the infotainment of the bmw is "crap". Its the best and lightyears ahead of what you find in the Volvo

@@propstoyou9792 well of course if you think asking your friends is more reliable than googling actual scientific unbiased reviews then you're more of an idiot than i first suspected. but just so you know , the reviews say that BMWIdrive is one of, if not the best on the market, i myself find my bmw idrive to be superb , but i haven't tried all the others so i couldn't make an honest comparison , something you seem to be able to do without any need for an actual test. Really don't understand PHEV aside from tax insensitive for company cars.. Who wants to plug their car in every day to make best use of it? Enough gadgets to be plugging in these days as is! Either go petrol/diesel or go full EV

Hey. I don't think testing the max EV range is a completely fair valuation of what these luxury PHEVs are for. The likes of plug in hybrids from BMW, Merc or Volvo shouldn't seem to be engineered entirely to be ran out of EV in the first few miles. The point of all hybrids (even without plugs) is that the battery power is capable to blend and share into the power output, reducing strain on the engine during accelerating and cruising. To empty the range and then rely on full petrol leaves the ECU to change heavily off the engine from time to time. This is an efficiency flaw in all hybrids, including the Prius. It's best avoided to run on full petrol a and zero battery at all.
@jiratnitipon90055 жыл бұрын
I'm interested. Could you explain more, in a simple way please?
@mamba1015 жыл бұрын
Depleting the battery means you're just carrying that heavey battery so end up in a normal but heavier petrol car.. The small battery potential benefits is assisting the engine when it otherwise would be strained or not efficient.. e.g, stop go driving or going up hill

Buying a "Hybrid" (for those sitting on the fence) is not going to contribute in the fight against air pollution. It just increases their maintenance costs of owning a car.
