Hi , excellent videos . Question : what is the “motor mount vacuum switch “ on the 335d ?
@alphadevyat Жыл бұрын
Motor mounts are vacuum controlled between hard and soft setting. There is a switchover valve that is the same as for compressor bypass and EGR cooler. It is located on the driver side of the motor under the intake manifold aft of the glow plug controller.

Thank you for that , I found my vacuum leak at the switch under the intake manifold , hose was old just like in your super video . You know from comments many have been helped by your clear and well made videos . I have been an air cooled Porsche tech so the BMW was like working on a NASA rocket.

why'd you splice in new lines rather than run whole new ones? Just bought my x5, has 90k miles on it and is a 2012. Is the vacuum line all the same diameter? Better to order online or buy from bmw? Single turbo conversion better than the "twin power" setup?
@alphadevyat13 күн бұрын
@@ConTheDon187 splice just like the factory did. Easier to service. There are only a few extra connections one can eliminate. Otherwise they are all single pieces. Get vac line from FCP euro, part number 11731259996. On X5 lines to motor mounts are a different diameter. Singe turbos been tried. Don’t bother.

@@100cosma you have elaborate where are you referring your vacuum is not connected. Vacuum system is closed loop and you can not have any open connections or you will have leaked and it will affect the whole system.

@@aldinbabba418 low pressure EGR pressure converter under the intake manifold. Output from it goes to LP EGR on the passenger side behind the big turbo. Input into the pressure converter comes from vacuum distribution line just in front on the pressure converter and under the intake manifold. On the pressure converter the nipple with blue dot is an output nipple.

How do you test the pressure converters with a hand vacuum pump? I put my pump into the black side and plugged off the blue end of it. When pumping one of them was losing a lot more vacuum and was a lot louder than the other one. Does this mean it’s bad? I can send you a video through email if needed.
@alphadevyat3 жыл бұрын
Ben, pressure converters when not energized will not hold vacuum. So when you plug an output port and apply vacuum to the input port they will leak whether good or bad, if not energized.

Hi I have a problem. The cooling fan turns on after 5 seconds starting the car , the weather doesn’t matters even in -10 celsius it’s turning on and it’s not turning off till the shutdown the engine. I made real time data logging it’s turning off after 80km/h I can’t figure it out what’s wrong.Only getting heating glow plugs errors.
@alphadevyat3 жыл бұрын
First, check your A/C is off. Check your fan relay. Is your motor temp in spec?
@F-Arda3 жыл бұрын
@@alphadevyat Ac is off , even on the diagnostic shows AC is closed(I checked maybe because of there’s some cable issues). As I know there’s no fan relay , fan command is coming from DME. Engine even can’t reach operating temperature. Hours of driving it barely reaches 70 Celsius degrees.And its running at full speed at 14 it shows .
@alphadevyat3 жыл бұрын
@@F-Arda if motor is not reaching the operating temperature I would definitely replace the thermostat although it does not trigger continuous fan application. Same goes for glow plugs or the controller (usually the issue). Bring it into a state of no errors and then investigate further. What car is it. Usually there is a fan relay but be interesting to check the diagrams.

@@F-Arda just checked there is a fan cutout relay for the fan. Any car 635d with 2007/03+ build has it. Look at the large plug on the fan shroud. Not far should be a relay. I could not find a part number. I would check that first.

@@zerocool123567 ahh okay, funny you said that i have just ordered a new upgraded intercooler today 😅 when you had leaking intercooler did you have poor fuel economy and notice the torque in low rpm isn't as strong?
@zerocool1235672 ай бұрын
@shammyali3895 can't say I really noticed a loss in tourqe. How I realised is the 535d always have a fair bit of oil in the hoses and at first I thought it was leaking hoses as I'd taken my under tray of and was getting oil on the drive. Each end of the intercooler, after removing the hoses and cleaning them I discovered it was the Intercooler. The aa41 leak drove me mad. Funny thing is car still run well.
