Bmw 540i abs module replacement / trans failsafe fix

Correction, the bolts are T20 for the module!
So my new project, an 02 e39 sportline in topaz blue metallic had a transmission failsafe and engine failsafe along with the trifecta lights, in this video I install my freshly refurbished abs module and clear all my codes. Brake light was on because the rear brakes are low! Car is gonna be a project. I'll be posting my progress with it so if you're bmw fans please subscribe!

Engine failsafe = throttle body dirty i see you didn't put MAF sensor back after turning engine on

Brake light is your wheel abs sensor. Just needs to replace its just for the pad wearing , no big deal, but if it bugs ya just replace it and it will go away

I'm having acceleration issues with my 05 X5 4.4i. From a complete stop it goes from gear 2 to 4 or sometimes it jus goes from 1 to 4 then throws the transmission failsafe code on the dash. Could this be a abs issue as well? Thanks

Tranny or more than likely transfer case issues would be my guess... although abs module could cause transmission shifting issues.... without a scanner it's tough to gauge. Try unplugging the abs module and going for a drive to see how the vehicle behaves, that will give you your answer. Helps if you can scan and clear off the codes first!

Ive had the dash lights on for about 2 months. Just today i had the trany failsafe come on and only drives on 4th gears. Its my daily so ill need to try a junkyard module while i send my current one out. I hope itll fix this problems

you can drive the car without a module, just none of your gauges will work (including gas gauge). if you go that route make sure to cover the lines with a bag to prevent dirt and moisture from getting in there as much as possible

I have a 2005 bmw 530i that doesn't go higher than 50 miles per hours in the dash bored it says transmission failsafe

Common problem with the e60. Valvebody in the transmission usually needs rebuild or replaced with a remanufactured unit if you don't want to put that much work in, that's what I'd do.
