Huge thanks man. Procrastinated going to the dealer to get this and the passenger a/c vent fixed. Had already seen your Amazon LCI Taillight upgrade and decided to go ahead and roll the dice on a pair (so far zero issues). Went back to see the install video for guidance and seen you had just uploaded this video and the a/c vent fix. Came in clutch man knocked both issues out today and it worked.

@@FullBoltOnGarage The trouble is that the dealership doesn’t even make that much money on a -repair- replacement like that. They have to buy the parts and have huge overhead costs. I’m not defending them (at all) it’s just that I detest them replacing parts instead of doing actual repairs.

Thank you so much for the super detailed tutorial! My G30 was slightly different (There was a 3rd plug in the middle. More of that towards the bottom.), but I was able to do it, but unfortunately, I'm out of luck. I have the crappier issue that the top strip is just not lit on the left and right sides and unfortunately this method didn't fix it. Guess I'll just have to live with it lol. For me, the only hard part for this DIY was actually just the first part. I struggled to remove the cover. My advice for those who struggle with that too is to use a flat head screwdriver and push the top clip forward then squeeze the screwdriver on the top portion and push it out. For those who have a 3rd plug that's in the middle and don't want to unplug it, I was able to do this no problem with all the connectors on. It only makes it slightly tedious to do, but it's still doable.

Unfortunately problem isn’t clear plastic strips only.It’s just little bit improved, but not resolved full problem. Problem is second part of this unit, and you can’t fix it. If you go to OEM BNW parts you will see that it’s selling together.

@@FullBoltOnGarage want to add a little note after I followed the process: there is a laser etching on the back surface of the light pipe, suggest to avoid the polish on these area. It will make it less diffusive.

Great videos. I have a 2018 m5 and right tweeter quit lighting up. I bought a new light tube thingie and installed and still doesn’t work. I swap it w the left side and it works fine but then the left light won’t work on the right side. Called dealer and they said it has to be coded in to turn on the light again. On my G30, the light strip on the bottom of that trim piece is very dim compared to the doors. I wonder if I can fix that somehow instead of buying a new trim piece? Nice to see how that piece is removed.

LMAO i did the same exact thing , 2/3 broke luckily for me i found the entire dash trim on ebay w the ambient lighting for under 300$ , you could find a trim and just take the ambient lighting out and put it into your own trim.

I used Bondic UV Glue kit. It takes two people, add glue, hold the two pieces together and make sure it’s straight and the other person shines the uv light to harden it. It dries clear, but it did leave a slightly brighter light at the glue point, but the whole tube will light up.

Most likely this will fix it. I've dome countless hours of research trying to find a brand new tube but absolutely no luck. This is the best thing for now. If your ambient modules are bad you could switch our the tube if you like!

Unfortunately no. The tube is sitting behind a cover that helps light up more. Just cleaning from the outside won't do anything.

The company who makes the tubes i believe pores the mold and at the exact point of the needle leave a little circle. Around it seems to have almost a matte finish on the base that needs to be polished off!

Kind of worked for me, tubes were dirty, but i cracked one of them at the end :( thats not the worst, right after assembling back Front passanger restrain system error came up. It have to somehow related to it, any suggestions?

Connected ISTA+ and deleted error, no issues anymore. If you want to avoid it, remove airbag lock after disconnecting batterry

Check your passenger and driver ambient footwell connection. If they are disconnected, they will turn off other strips. Make sure they are plugged in
