BMW CODE P0420 P0430 CATALYTIC CONVERTER SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT
If you have BMW that has engine light and any of the code P0420 or code P0430 in this video we will explain what causes these codes and how to fix it. It is important to fix code P0420 or code P0430 as soon as you can once your service engine light turn on on your BMW. Code P0420 or code P0430 in most cases relates to problems with the catalytic converter for bank 1 or the catalytic converter for bank 2. If you do not fix code P0420 or code P0430 you can end up causing more long term damage to the engine and the exhaust system. We demonstrated how to fix code P0420 or code P0430 on BMW 3 series but it will work on multiple models BMW.

I think you put the wrong bank sensor for the link. 1 ~ 3 cylinder 02 sensors are called bank 1 sensor 1. 4 ~ 6 cylinder 02 sensors are called bank 2 sensor 1. You listed bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 for the link which is after cat, bottom of the car on the exhaust.

I replaced all oxygen sensor with newer ones but I still have same issue ? I think it can related to Coolant temperature sensor too. I am gonna check it, but if you have any idea please let me know.

please help. I have an e46 318 m43b19. i have check engine light and my mechanic says its from catalytic converter. I changed the catalytic converter, i changed lambda sensors both of them with new bosch and still i have the check engine after 100 kilometres each time they delete the light. What can it possibly be? no one can find what it is

So I have a 06 330i I have had 1 code p1415 MAF code for a few weeks and rough idle. I found one of the CCV valve hoses was broken off. I temp replaced it with a a rubber hose until I get a new CCV system. Car ran fine for 2 days now I get P0420, P0430 and pending codes P0171, P0174. Could this be still because I have a vacuum leak? I've been throwing money at this car like crazy just trying to get the CEL light to stay off so I can pass inspection. HELP!!!!! LOL

“Start with the simplest, cheapest and easiest 1st.” I would address and solve the other codes present 1st. Solve P0420/P0430 last. Because the other codes could be the reason why you’re having P0420/P0430. I would change the spark plugs 1st. Use only what is designed for your car. I’d Check air filter too for dirt. Clean MAP sensor. Then, check the intake manifold gaskets and air boots, make sure screws and clamps are tighten to specifications. Check for loose clamps on the intake boots. I’d also check the throttle body gasket for leaks. Check PCV purge connector, make sure it is intact.

@@simplelangperorock Thanks! I posted this 3 months ago I've got the car straightened out since then. I learned a lot from youtube. Very happy with the way it's running now eventually I'll address the oil leaks but for 221k miles it's doing good.

@@tyronehernandez9962 there were so many problems I can't remember them all but I ended up replacing the CCV hoses and then it threw codes for the rear o2s. I couldn't get the laptop to connect to the frm module to try and tune them out so I added extensions to the o2 sensors and the lights stayed out. Had to send the frm module out to be rebuilt. After that it's been fine.
