I have had a p0430 code for awhile now. So after changing both sensors, i replaced the bank 2 catalytic convertor and both sensors. Still showing a p0430 code. On a 2014 ford explorer sport if that helps at all

I was preparing to do method C, I had my CE on 2015 yukon xl for 6mos now but didn't bother to clear it due to winter in Chicago. Last week I had low fuel alarm and added 12oz of fuel treatment (lukas) brand. After running 10 miles my CE cleared so I was hesitant to install method C now. It's been a week and CE never came back.

That's because they want to make the most money from you and switching the catalytic converter out is simple. They don't actually want to look for the real reason because that's just hourly pay and more work. To be honest catalytic converter aren't made to just go bad 90 percent of the time something else is causing the code or atleast causing the catalytic converter to fail. You can have misfires , exhaust leaks if your car consumes oil/ burns oil. Just because you get the code po430 doesn't automatically mean the cat is bad. Mechanics just want to make the most money by replacing it. But without finding the root of the problem even if you replace the cat with a new one the code will come back maybe 6 months down the road if not sooner

I have an 02 Camry SE V6 with this code. Tried Cataclean 2x..first time check engine light went off for a fews day until it returned. On the second attempt, light remained active. I want to try replacing O2 sensors before cleaning because car has been having 02 sensor symptoms (loss of power, rough idle, hesitant, etc). Which should I change, the upstream or the downstream sensor?

Hello, just to make sure about the sensor issue, we recommend testing the converter by doing a back pressure test. If you are getting this code along with a loss of power, it usually means that your catalytic converter is failing.

My truck has 3 Catalytic Converter. At the Auto parts they told me to replace each and every Oxygen sensor, so I took the truck to a friend who specialize in Mufflers, etc. Since I'm in Texas and not California, all I need is two instead of 3. The first and third Catalytic converter were bad, so he replaced only the second. As far as the third CC he took it out and replaced it with a pipe. He charged me a total of $190.00 However, the new Catalytic Converter was like a ball, lol I know... (Universal) no problem for 3 years. Went back and he replaced the Number two Catalytic Converter for $150.00 four years later (Today) the light came on. I'n going to do the cleaning the first and se what happens. One question: "Do I have to fill up the tank first?".

Update: I just replaced both downstream O2 sensors(front & rear) yesterday, along with using another bottle of cataclean(3rd time). Tried to clear the code with ZUS app, but is still present. How long could it possibly take for CPU to remove light if issue could be on the way to resolution?

Yes SAME. I’ve got both codes simultaneously. Plus I’ve already replaced the cats couple of years ago, so I think it’s unlikely they failed THAT soon, and I probably wasted thousands replacing them anyways.

I just took my vehicle in for repair because of this code and the mechanic said my catalytic converter was gone, possibly stolen, and they "don't touch catalytic converters or the section of pipe where they belong, because it's illegal." (This is in Michigan.) The error code won't stay clear and when my check engine light is on it disengages my traction control in my 2004 Toyota Sienna. Any suggestions to get the error code gone? Thank you so much for answering. It was loud before I took it in; they fixed another hole in the exhaust, and it's very quiet now. The mechanic at Midas said that where the catalytic converter is supposed to be there is a straight piece of pipe welded in; sorry I should have clarified this in my first post I was just so glad to find your video. This light being on is nerve wracking, because the traction control is off when the check engine light is on. A few days ago we drove and the check engine light was off then the traction control was on and working properly. I'm concerned because we are coming into winter. We think the catalytic converter was possibly stolen by another mechanic (recommended by the used car dealership right after we bought the car,) since there is a pipe welded in its place, right after we bought the car.

Great video. Lost on me as I know nothing about cars. If anyone has any insight I would love to hear it. I just bought a used 2005 lexus es330. Put a new battery in it when it got shipped to me. Absolutely no warning lights on. When i went to get emissions, I failed the readiness portion (thanks battery). Was told I just needed to drive it 50 miles or so and that would pass. The shit thing is, Just getting the emissions test gave me the VSC, TRAC OFF, and check engine light. Awesome. Went back after driving 50 miles, passed the readiness, but failed P0430 catalyst sys effifiency below threshhold bank 2. The CC previously passed. 2 things. 1, how do i pass emissions stat, 2, what do you think the issue is? Thanks to anyone who can give me insight.

Hello, this code just came up on my 2013 jeep Laredo today. No power loss but I have notice when I turn the keep over it turns over slowly before starting. Sometimes it will start right up and sometimes it turns over longer before it start. I’m going to buy the cleaner tomorrow but do you think I need to change the sensors. It’s reading bank two and which one is bank 2? It also idle funny sometimes.

Hi Brandon, yes- there's a high possibility that the high flow catalytic converter could be the reason why this error code registers. You might consider putting the stock catalytic converter back as most vehicle (like yours) aren't programmed with it added.

Hi Nelson, kindly check the condition of the purge valve, line and canister.

I've had the same code on my 08 Escalade. I would start with the purge valve. Literally a 60-80 dollar part and 15 minutes to change out. If that doesnt work then change out the cannister which takes about 30-45 minutes and about 120 bucks. Should fix the issue.

I wish the cat cleaner i used wouod have worked on my 96 honda Odyssey. Diagnosing this code is an ordeal as it can be caused by any number of things. I cant afford to try this then that to find the solution. And i cant go talking about the possibilityes with different knowledgeable people because that just scrambles my brain. Very frustrating!

Ok I need help. I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6. I got this code like last week and ever since then, my fuel efficiency has literally TANKED. I fill up and all of a sudden by the end of the next couple of days I’m at half a tank(but not really) and here’s why. When I’m idle for a bit my gas line goes up almost a quarter of a tank. I drive for a bit and it does down a lot. Then I park on a hill (nose up) then my gas line goes up again. I’m not sure what’s happening. No loss of power, I looked under at the cat to see if there’s like a leak. It’s crisp clean. What could this be??

Hi Frank, kindly inspect the wiring for the downstream O2 sensor if there are broken or improperly connected and check the converter if clogged or blocked.

did you put dummy sensors in? No sensors? Original sensors? if it has no catalytic, than the the reading at sensor one is the same as sensor two and you can get a code. Exhaust leaks can also trigger a P0430 . With engine and exhaust cold soak all the joints and sensor bungs from the header gasket to the last joint on the tailpipe with soapy water from a spray bottle. While wet, use a leaf blower or shop vac with reversible flow to blow air into the tailpipe. Leave it blowing while you inspect all the gaskets , joints and sensor bungs. Bubbles will form at the leaks.

I’m sure you’ve figured this out by now but if you replace the mid pipes (even with cats still installed) you’d probably want to get a tune done, otherwise an error code is possible.
