Right on man, what a beautiful job with the overhaul. Im surprised (and happy for you!) to hear how much you like the coilovers.. I would say the key here is to make sure they're set up properly. I have a 535i which I recently did a full suspension oiverhaul on. When I bought the car, the handling was good, but the ride was absolutely terrible. The previous owner had 'stanced' the car out a little too much for my liking - but at the time,m I didnt realize that that 'upgrade' had completely ruined the suspension. When I went to a more stock setup (stock suspension mounts etc. w/ ireland engineering springs and bilstein tourings, w all new bushings ctrl arms and ireland engineering sway bar kit) the car was complelety transformed and I now have seen the light - what these cars are meant to drive like. Night and day difference - it soaks up the bumps remarkably well, it maintains about the same ride height, theres a tiny bit more body roll but overall it handles *better* than before, and just floats over everything. I LOVE IT. So be careful with coilovers and make sure they're sert up properly!! Sounds like you did :) Enjoy it in good health fellow e28 lover ;)

Hey Pete, great job and video series. I thoroughly enjoyed this type of video, please keep them coming. Another simple upgrade that you can add to your BMW would be some colorful Alpina pin stipping. That, in my opinion, would set it off. Still though the car looks great.

Congrats on finishing. Love how it looks. Gotta say I'm a little (pleasantly) surprised at how much you liked the Fortune Auto coilovers! They have always had the stance and drift crowd associated with them; and therefore I never associated them with higher-quality coilovers. Maybe I'll give them a shot when my DD needs suspension.

Swap in a different ratio diff or LSD and a Jim Conforti performance chip would help. I did that with a 86 E30 325e. Except I used a LSD from a 635CSi (a 3.64 or 3.46 ratio I forget) and it was a bit high on RPMs at 80 mph so I think a 3.15 diff would be better.

You get incredible mileage with you car, mine is so bad compared to it ! I get 14l/100km (around 17mpg I guess) The automatic eats so much energy, I have to 3.73 rear end too. The 2.7 M20 has torque yeah, but the cylinder head choks the engine higher in the rev range. It's like a diesel behaved gas engine. I'll go with the m20b20 cylinder head to retain compression ratio, give it a b25 throttle body and intake manifold, and ditch the motronic 1.0 for the 1.3 off an e30, to wake up this good engine a bit. Anyway I was happy to watch this series PT ! Consider keeping off the winter a bit but you're right to enjoy your ride, it looks and certainly drives sweet I'm sure !

E24 and E28 are my favourite ones. TBH I wasn't surprised when he mentionend eating through rotors too quickly after seeing his driving... he drives this thing like an automatic, every possible moment when he doesn't need acceleration he goes into neutral and absolutely doesn't use the engine to help breaking.

Still,...still to this day,...my all-time favorite BMW! Long live the E28 535is! Not sure if you upgraded to ///M5 Swaybars,...but if and when you do,....prepare to be Look'n for Curves for No Reason at All! If you do add the ///M5 Swaybars,...ensure you Reinforce the Swaybar "Links" mounting point on the MacPherson Strut point,...as the increased resistance of the Larger Swaybar and bushings will cause the mounting point on the strut to basically break-away over time. Yeah,...go ahead and ask me how I know!

@@Matt-sz5po so you’re saying an E28 shouldn’t be powerful, what about the M5/Alpina/Hartge variants those weren’t powerful? I’m not saying to LS swap the thing but a more modern engine like an M50 would work, keep it in the family why not 🤷🏻‍♂️

I too have trouble with the toe on my rear wheel. Mines an E46 and it's the drivers side rear that the toe won't straighten out completely. It drives me crazy and I can see the wear on that tire wearing heavier than the other. Why should this be. I have after market (previous owner installed) camber arms so they should be as adjustable as possible but the alignment shop says that's as far as they can adjust it. GGGrrrr.

Let me school you what an E is and truly is Eta” engine, a stroked-out 2.7-liter variant of the famous M20 inline-six. The e stands for efficiency, and Eta is Greek for the same. The car only has 127Hp and 170 foot pounds of torque. It’s not free wrapping like the others but it can easily course at 130 all day long giving you 28-30 mpg. Keep it looking good as I’m loving the overhaul 😎

Lift your head restraint up so you don't get whiplash if you ever get in an accident, trust me on that. I owned a Volvo S60R with Volvo's "WHIPS" (Whiplash Prevention System) and I *still* had to go through physio for weeks on end. At least let the centre back of the head restraint hit the back of your head like it's supposed to!
