Also great tutorial! I ordered a OEM trunk seal for my E23, now I know how to properly approach the installation

Love when you have all your concentration on the work and ready to screw it all up, and then family comes in... I have been wondering how to install mine, will use the same method! Thanks for the vid!

Yeah if it leaks after that I blame the family 😆

Thanks for taking the time to document this, will all the distractions, I hope it's still water tight. I've heard of using a little butyl tape in the corners to keep water from rolling under. 😊

I was wondering how I would prevent water from getting inside, even with a brand new trunk seal which I just installed thanks to Turbine research. Where would you put the butyl tape exactly?

Just my two cents, I'm about to attempt this, I have the oem seal sitting in the channel without any glue at this very moment. What I did notice when I removed the old seal was that a lot of rust was in the channel flat surface. The seal seems to have a channel in the rubber that is in contact with the metal (maybe to allow water to run down it?). I am going to try and only use the 3M seal glue on the outer edge of the rubber seal only so that If required I can carefully fold up and clean beneath it. Any type of sealant seems to hold moisture, I did not want to see any more rust on my e28.

What’s up with the 100 series LC and vintage BMW combo? I have a 98 LX470 and a 86 735i
