BMW e30 cluster repair

This is a quick video requested by a fellow member of my local E30 club, showing the process of resoldering or "reflowing solder" to repair the bad pin connections on the cluster. This process will be similar on all early bmws with vdo or motometer clusters.

THANK YOU! I've spent months trying to fix my speedometer and temp gauge, this fixed it! Now I just need the fuel gauge but that i belive is the fuel sender.

Hi, can you possibly go into detail by removing the speedo. Mine is currently not working and wanted to try and troubleshoot.. Also, my gas needle is flickering up and down and the sender unit if totally fine.

what does the yellow socket on the back of the indicator do? does it have anything to do with the tachometer?

I do not believe that has anything to do with the tach. At least not on my cars. None of mine had anything plugged into that socket. The tach was fed from the white connector if I recall.

hi, my E30 316 1985 have clock and y want to replace for tachometer similar to you car I have a question is only buy it and replace for the clock and i havent the electric ramal. I hope your coments

I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. If you are trying to swap a different tach, make sure it is from the same model you have or it may not work.
