►The brake rotors on your vehicle are wear items that serve a very important purpose. They're what provides a link between the wheel hub and the brake pads giving them a surface area for friction that allows you to stop your vehicle.
At every pad replacement, it's recommended to inspect the rotors for glazing, hot spots, warpage, and to make sure they're within the minimum thickness specification which is listed on the hat of the rotor. When replacing brake rotors it is imperative to replace them in matched pairs for the best performance and service life of your braking system.
Today Mike Hidalgo, our retail center associate, is here to walk you through the steps to replace the rear pads and rotors on your BMW E30. From jacking the car up, to breaking the lugs free, we cover the entire process.

Excellent video. The torque settings for the pad carrier bracket is 44 to 49ft lbs. 80 ft lbs is for the fronts.

Awesome!! Many thanks! (Does the no Brakleen rule for zinc apply forever? Any alternative that should be used in future maintenance?)

@@fcpeuro 325is. It sits toooo much. Has less than 1k on Cylinder Head Rebuild and a attention to detail under hood factory fresh appearing mini resto. (God I hate to tear back into my hard work but it's my doing). I'm chicken to start it so Timing Belt and Tensioner, ( going to install Gates Racing Belt this round), Check Valve Adjustments, Oil Change, Then.....it's getting a complete 'Rear Subframe Out' Suspension rebuild with detailing and goodies.

Really good video. Parts ordered. I have a question....do I need to use the spring clips that slot into the pads...are those clips only needed for the sensor? I didn't see them used in this video. Thanks. I have an 89 325i.

You are a good presenter. Do some more stuff. What size wheels do you have on your E30. I couldn't read it on the tire. 225 something. I have an 87 E30 with the original 14 inch wheels and would like to move up. Thanks.

I usually apply a thin, even coat of copper grease un the brake disc/ spacer contact area, as also center. Never gets stuck, and does not dries out.

Hi, don you put a brake pads waer sensor on the rear right? There are two sensors - one in front left and one in fron right for all models of e30 right?

Do you nean 7 mm allen wrench. All bolts are hex.
@newbeginnings8566

I would definitely change that 5mm rotor bolt for a new one so that it won't snap off on you at the next brake rotor change.. Also I always take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir as it makes pushing the piston in much easier.. Also sometimes you'll need to drain off some brake fluid after the brake pad change... Leave a small post it on the dashboard to remind you to check it at the end of the brake job..
