Hey man I’m in the middle of replacing my timing belt and water pump. I’m reassembling everything and am having trouble getting the water pump pulley back on. The pulley touches the harmonic balancer which doesn’t allow the pulley sit on right. Any tips?
@f.s.detailgarage78693 жыл бұрын
Not sure to be honest. Positive you have the correct water pump? Did you match it up to the one you took off?
@cgg99883 жыл бұрын
@@f.s.detailgarage7869 that’s where I kinda messed up...I got rid of the old one before I ran into this problem. I’m positive I have the right water pump so I don’t know if the pulley is the issue or not but I’m going to order a new one and see what happens, thank anyways man and good video!

Have you figured out what the problem was?

I just replaced my water pump and its leaking constantly from the top. I used Permatex gasket maker. specifically for water pumps. I waited for it to cure and everything... any tips?? Pretty upsetting...
@f.s.detailgarage78693 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear this. The engine block and water pump need to be really clean to ensure the gasket maker actually seals.

@@f.s.detailgarage7869 I did, brake clean + razor blade :( I noticed the mating surface wasn't exactly flat, which is why I opted for the gasket maker instead of the paper gasket. Guess I gotta do it for the 3rd time...
@f.s.detailgarage78693 жыл бұрын
Oscar Rodriguez ya the mating surfaces need to be true to one another. Unfortunately sounds like your gonna have to remove it regardless.

I would ensure your battery terminals are clean or any battery related wires you may have undone during the process are clean and plugged in properly or bolted down properly.
@f.s.detailgarage78696 ай бұрын
Also ensure you didn’t drain your battery for any reason. Clicking but no start would typically be battery related.

@@f.s.detailgarage7869 got it fixed! Took everything back apart to the distributor though maybe it was dirty? Cleaned everything reassembled and then tightened up the battery cables started right up! Thank you

Very useful video, just took out my water pump and couldn't do it without you. Want to order a new one but there's few different options and afraid I will order wrong one. Was looking for a part number on it but can't see it. Any advice which one to order? Maybe I'm it's just me who can't find part number?
@f.s.detailgarage7869 Жыл бұрын
Is your expansion tank on the passenger or driver’s side? Only 2 options.
@Mr.Nerijus Жыл бұрын
@@f.s.detailgarage7869 on drivers side. As I checked online with VIN number there's several different options. Plus one of your previous comments had an issue where they brought wrong one.
@f.s.detailgarage7869 Жыл бұрын
You need the late model water pump. Early model cars like my 87 use a different water pump. Again only 2 options it’s really not difficult or confusing.

I’m assuming you have a six cylinder and not a 4 cylinder correct?

@@f.s.detailgarage7869 yes, sorry wasn't really specific about my model. M20b25 87 plate. Thanks will order one soon 🙏

Hello dear friend. By chance you have the procedure of bleeding the cooling system, when the expansion tank is attached to the radiator. Greetings from Chile, South America.
@f.s.detailgarage78693 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Andres Cepeda Perez should be a bleeder screw on the thermostat housing. You can also jack the front of the vehicle up so the front of the engine is higher than the back of the engine and run the car this way with the heater on full blast until it reaches running temp then top off and go for a drive then recheck expansion tank level after the drive and top off if needed.
