One thing I know is no car project ever finishes in time, there's always one other thing to do in between 😅 ... That said, I love this rebuild so much, enjoyed every single episode, this is one of my favorites for sure 🙂 Take your time sir, you are doing an amazing job. It's you who's gonna enjoy the car and I like the fact that you are doing it properly sir, and for us it's just a treat to witness this amazing journey. Already excited for the upcoming episodes. Peace ✌️

Hi Steve, I am an enthusiast from the South East of France. I really liked your videos about this beautiful E31 that is yours and all the very very good job you're commenting on each episode. I own a 1990 Mazda Miata and a 2001 E39 530d, working on both cars all by myself. I have to say that the way you film and comment is more interesting because of all the details you provide. It is a good source of knowledge as well as an inspiration. Keep on working on the BMW, have faith even if winter is already here. If I could, I would send to you some sun rays and a few degrees from the Riviera.

Thanks so much Sophian, i'd gladly trade you some frost for some rays!

Another favourite of BMW, the god awful connectors The reservoir looks factory fresh, v nice. I have never seen that method used on a heat exchanger. You will need to report back on how it holds up down the line. Looking forward to the next instalment All the best from across the water 🏴

It was great finding your channel. Got an e31 recently and it really helps to visualize how to fix the deferred maintenance on the car. Keep up the good work!

Did you ask a radiator refurb company for a quote for the hyd cooler? You'll be surprised how cheap they can be!

No, but that's not a bad idea, it may still need a bit of work so will look into it.

I'm thinking of repairing my hydraulic oil cooler the same way you did. Do you still happen to have a link for those cooling fins? Cheers,
@stevesbmwbarn6 ай бұрын
Any number of them on ebay/aliexpress. I'd recommend pressure testing yours first, turned out to be a leak in mine.
@JohanLocke6 ай бұрын
@@stevesbmwbarn Well I can't see a leak and actually the cooler has been is this horrible state for years but nearly all the cooling fins are gone. I'm not sure how important this cooling is, maybe just overengeneering 🤷.

New timing chain tensioner? Tricky to install on an engine with no initial oil pressure. I'd run the engine for a bit then fit a new one.

Did you found out the correct height for the mesh in the hydraulic reservoir? I can't find it.... Cheers,
@stevesbmwbarn3 жыл бұрын
Nope, but the mesh height isn't crucial, correct level is 1cm from the top of the canister.
